The winner of Eurovision was a crossdresser. What does that have to do with homosexuality? Another tarred brush of "everything which isn't traditionally heterosexual is all the same". Puh-lease.

And do you really find that funny? I wonder how thin the ice upon which you are treading is.

Crossdressers are straight now? It seems like accepting homosexuallity is not enough these days? It's like you have to publicly accept it or be labeled intolerant:( Can't turn on the tv without there being a person talking about how awesome it is to be gay:/

Actually it has. Thomas Neuwirth is openly gay. And:

I dunno if it's funny only to me, but on the backround of the Russia's "territorial expansion"... Yes, I do.

Especially the comment of a Ukrainian guy.
Y'know, the real battles between RF and Ukraine are going on in the internet. And this Eurovision is now a new trolling weapon for Russians against Ukrainians: "So, you still want to join the Gayropean Union? Then you should start being tolerant to this like Europe is! Haha!"

Hint: Ukrainians are not a less homophobic nation then we are.
And I love how some Western media sources complain about "hard times are coming for the gays of Crimea since it became Russian". Loool.

What's funny is that, in 2003, Russia entered the Eurovision Song Contest (and came third) with a duo pretending to be underage lesbians - even sharing a kiss as part of their Eurovision act.

And they sang for the opening of the Sochi Olympics.

Oh noes, the Soviet Civil Union.

Like I don't know. And a Ukrainian transvestite singer, Verka Serduchka (Andriy Danilko), came second in 2007.
Russia should have entered with an openly gay couple (or a trans) instead of Tolmachevy sisters and we'd probably come at least second after Conchita. :D And not get booed on the non-politic song contest.

Oh noes, the Soviet Civil Union.
Why not? :)

People have to accept that you being straight is awesome, right? Grrr, go you! :D

I'm concerned that you think a transvestite is the same as a homosexual, by publically stating opinions like that it seems, to my mind at least, that you demonstrate an almost adolescent sexual repression or innocence that can only be healed by learning a bit more about the world. You don't have to agree with it, that's your right and I support it, but you should at least learn about it.

No, just no! Nobody cares that I'm straight and I'm fine with that:) I have no problem with anybody being gay and to be honest I don't care about a strangers sexual preference! Please don't tell me what I should learn about

But didn't you say that a transsexual looked gay? That seems a weird mix-up, and a very innocent mistake of course.

I never know you could work out everyone's sexuality at a glance.

Is it possible to refine it to a Kinsey Scale point from a cursory eyeballing?

I'd say the vast majority of TV programming still reinforces "how awesome it is" to be straight, actually...

Conchita is fictional. Hope this helps.

No, not at all. This is the internet, remember? We're all fictional. Get out of here with your pseudo-metaphysical nonsense and get back to the fact that birds with beards are what are known in Hull as errmerrs.

@Liquid, love that sig :)
