Which to be blunt show a very messed up concept of what 'rights' actually entail.

Very much so. I'm actually at a loss as to describe how someone given the exact same rights as me somehow diminishes my exact same rights.

What about the kids who grow up and think that's OK?!?! Won't somebody please think of the children!

Wait! It appears there has been a great misunderstanding.

There's this really cocky kid at my school who calls everyone an idiot who doesn't agree with him. Yesterday, he called me an imbecile for thinking that homosexuality occurs naturally and not believing that homosexuality is a choice and that it is chosen for attention.

You could argue that the lifestyle (by which I mean engaging in sexual actions and relationships with people of your gender, not gay bars and musicals :D) is a choice, but not the desires.

Or he could just be wrong, which he is if he thinks homosexuality doesn't occur in nature.

Though, if he really used the word "imbecile" then I have to give him some credit; that's a great word.

LOL he didn't use that word... he calls you "stoopid" and has a huge ego just because he trades oil on the Stock Market. He's got a variety of other pathetic and hypocritic ideas too..

Just as much of a choice as engaging in heterosexual actions and relationships.

My state will be one of four states voting on gay marriage this November. Right now it looks to be a nail-biter.

Well technically that is still a choice too, it's just that self-imposed lifelong celibacy would pretty hard to keep.

We had a bill here that (if passed) will redefine 'marriage' allowing same-sex couples to marry (as of we can only perform a Civil Union). It was pretty awesome when the votes after the first reading were tallied and turned out being 80-40 with our current PM being for as well. The next reading should be in January next year.

That's a demographic showing regions for/against in New Zealand. It interesting to note that rural areas (such as the West Coast or Taupo) are generally against while built up areas like Central Auckland or Wellington are for.

You could if it were an actual lifestyle.

Are you seriously saying that acting on mutual sexual attraction is a lifestyle choice?

Maybe lifestyle wasn't the best choice of word. What I meant is that you can't choose who you're attracted to, but you can still choose who you go to bed with (in most cases).

So you do serious expect homosexuals to never have sex (unless of course its hetrosexual), how exactly does that benefit them or society in general (given that enforced celibacy for priests works out so well)?

I never said anything about stopping them. I was simply making the point that sexual actions we engage in, regardless of orientation, are a choice, but desires aren't.

That I don't disagree with, however I don't see how its relevant to this discussion at all?

I couldn't care less about Homosexuals. Even the ones who feel the need to brag and shout about it 24/7.

It was simply me responding to this. I tend to make a distinction between homosexuality and homosexual acts, as they aren't exclusive to one another.

How is it a choice?

That's not homosexual acts being discussed however, but rather urges (i.e. you can't control who you are attracted to).

The head of the Catholic Church in Britain wrote an opinion piece on why same-sex marriage should never be introduced into Britain. Here is the aforementioned article, complete with a list of logical fallacies he used.

That made me laugh. SO MANY FALLACIES! There are two kinds of people in the world, those who think and those who don't. Those who don't think spew out fallacies when they try to think.
Those who think support equal marriage rights for all regardless of sex or gender.
