With a "pre-made" livery editor like GRID 1 and now GRID 2 all the obscene liveries argument become old. You can't make your own design you can just choose what developers are giving you.
There are 2 bigs advantages:
1 - no way to create obscene content
2 - very fast way to create a custum livery

So, no more excuses, it's just a matter of no livery editor because no.

While I agree with those advantages, if there was, say, 15 liveries for each car would mean 18000 paint jobs for PD to make. Which is alot of effort for something that ultimately isn't as good as a full editor

Well, after the disappointment of GT5 failing to bring their promised livery editor, I am yet to see anything on GT6 confirming or denying that they have one this time.

Does anyone have any news on this front?

Is it coming, has it been ruled out?

I know from past history we can guarantee the team at PD will keep us in the dark and drip feed us.

For GT6, the livery editor has to be a must.

Hopeing it never make's it to Gt series. PD needs to foucs on more important issues like making all standerds into premiums.

I honestly just want to be able to put a racing number on the side of my car with a basic body kit that is already offered in GT.

That's all.

Agree with you higher place, would be cool if we could just add raceing decals and number plates.

A livery editor is more important than an unrealistic goal like this. You seriously expect PD to make 1000 premium cars?

z71L28: You are aware of the rules against triple-posting, aren't you?

Speaking of a livery editor...I don't know what to make of one. Since I have no clue of what Kaz meant by being able to make your own car, he could have been hinting at a livery editor. Like it was mentioned earlier here, I'm going to wait until Gamescom to see what's up.

Then again, while Online Play isn't subject to a rating from the ESRB...you can still get booted from PSN for posting offensive content, including genitalia. Speaking of that, I'd like to say that I no longer consider the possibility of seeing a penis on something to be an anti-customization argument in any video game; it is as common as anything else on the internet and is older than Kaz is right now.

So I'll just leave it at this; There's nothing wrong with being a kid, a brony, a fanboy, creative, talented, original, or a combination of at least any of those two.

Although I would love it, I think it's unlikely. Here's why:

GT is a PlayStation staples, it's one of THE games everyone with a PS3 has to get and because of that it's one of the consoles best selling titles. This success doesn't come without its problems though. The problem that affects the livery editor is that it'll be a feature which will see questionable uses due to the game having such an enormous and diverse audience. Online lobbies in GT5 showed this clearly: You got tons more of lobbies full of kids crashing their X2010s thinking they're oh so tough and that the X2010 had VTEC than lobbies with serious people looking for clean racing (without 🤬 Soft tyres!!!). With a livery editor we'll see online one awesome personal design or one racecar-inspired replica livery for each 5 we see that say "Swaaaag", "KB FTW NOOBS" and have penises drawn all over them a la Jeremy Clarkson.

The only way this could be avoided is by giving us a very restricted livery editor, something that only allows some predetermined graphics or something like that. If they give us this, it could be added to the paint chip system so we can use the great trademark paintjobs of most manufacturers. Personally, I wouldn't like them to remove the entire paint chip system entirely but instead they should tweak a couple of details on it.

I know it would be awesome to go all Gulf on your cars or re-do the Jägermeister livery of the classic M3 with an E92, but I honestly wouldn't hold my breath.
Seriously! remove paint chips, if you want livery editer so bad swich to forza.

No but, what I would like to see is all ruf's, Nsx R 92, Supra RZ wich I might add are two iconic sports cars. All those tuned nismo skyline's would be nice to.

Telling someone to go play Forza if they want a feature in GT is probably the weakest argument you can make.

I'm sure PD can put in a livery editor and at the same time continue adding more cars.

Once again z71L28, there are rules against double posting or multiple posting in general, the string of post you've done on here falls under things not to do. Please follow the rules.

We have a wishlist thread, and a search function to find it in the GT6 area, I suggest you use that and come up with better arguments. PD and other makers have displayed that they can have tons of cars and also many features to their games to show of their cars. The issue here is PD haven't put in a true editor like they've said they would since GT HD. Now if you can actually argue me on why PD can't seem to add a simple livery editor, you'll be on your way.

I do not think this was meant as an argument, it is a statement, which i totally agree. Instead of fr@$king whining about what GT does not have why not play something that has what you want. Pretty simple, i think.

People use it as a lame excuse for PD to not include certain features. And not everyone here whines when they want something in the game.

...and what if PD took that approach? Like the now famous Xbox One quote what if whenever Kaz was asked about adding features to Gran Turismo that were already in other game he told players to "deal with it, play the other game"?

No, it doesn't work. We want a livery editor in Gran Turismo and it's not an outlandish request.

I never get tired of reading things like this.

Indeed. I did and hopped over to Forza which has a livery editor and proper paint shop

I do however hope GT6 has one, because I like GT :D

.

You're basically saying that they need to focus on making standards into premiums and never put livery editor into gt6? They planned to put livery editor in gt5but failed. They definitely need to focus more on putting a livery editor instead of such a unrealistic goal like modeling every standard car to premium.

Well seeing that paint chips are returning, hat makes me think there will NOT be a livery editor. Could you imagine if we had to use a paint chip for every layer?

Gamescom 2013: Kaz comes on stage.

Kaz: Livery Editor is in GT6 and the customization will blow your minds "Shows demo"

People: throwing money on stage .

Kaz: drops mic and walks off stage.

that would be the best GT6 feature announcment ever if it happened

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk and call you out on this, but could you please provide some evidence as to this? I want to believe you, but i want a source.

Except it would be pretty lackluster like most of what PD does.

This now infamous moment from TGS 2006.

That's a good observation. However, this could mean we will either not have it, or we will have a small and simple selection of decals, like racing stripes, numbers or letters. That's what I think.

A full livery editor; not likely. Although the feature (simple or complex) would be nice, I honestly don't think is going to happen. But as long as we keep the lousy paint chips that gives us the ability to paint cars however we want to (which are confirmed), I'm okay with it.

NOTE to PD: I suggest you make the paint chips purchasable from GT Auto (meaning that we only pay for the spraying, but we can choose a color an infinite number of times). I hate having to buy a Lexus LFA every time I need Matte Black paint :grumpy:

Or if you don't want to make them all available from the beginning, at least make it that we only have to get the chip once and then we can use it as many times as we want.

So when's the next video game event? Because from what I read in the news there reading the tweets we send to kaz and there adding those things, and im sure livery was one. So until next game event we should just wait it out with high hopes

The best time to reveal a livery editor would be Gamescom. Why?

1. Gamescom is held in Germany

2. The SLS AMG GT3 is German

3. The SLS AMG GT3 is bland and it needs a good livery

4. Big Gran Turismo news is often revealed at Gamescom (GT5's big Gamescom official reveal was the course editor)

But keep your hopes low. :)
