I agree that mysteries and conspiracies are great fun for active, inquiring minds. FE and Moon landing hoax are okay, but maybe not the best. Some go beyond moon landing hoax and suggest the moon is a hologram, or that Earth itself is a hologram or "matrix" program. Astronomers Borra and Trottier suggest 234 alien civilizations are currently delivering signals to Earth with laser beams.
My current mystery/conspiracy favorites center around unexplained megaliths, mystery lines, vanished civilizations, giants, catastrophes and Planet 9.

It could be a small criminal conspiracy on the part of a few activists to impede the flow of oil so vital to civilization.
Or it could be a vast, inchoate conspiracy on the part of the establishment elite to choke off dissent and rule the world as it chooses.
Or it could be something less than either off those things, like trespass on the part of the journalists or overzealous enforcement on the part of law enforcement.

Perhaps it's because the concept of the thread has almost no merit nor proof.
Of course, this is also off topic. Definitely an entire topic of its own.
But I'd say it's disturbing, not the work of mysterious dark forces; these folks have the right to protest peacefully, and a few folks journalists/movie-makers are charged with "inciting a riot".
At the risk of sounding like a playground taunt: "Let's put it in your backyard and see how you like it." It's not like a pipeline could fail and have disastrous local ecological consequences for the next few decades, right?
My understanding is that a segment of the pipeline runs through Native American lands, and naturally, many folks in the area are opposed to that. It isn't seen as anything which improves their lot in life, and they have treaties going back over a 150 years that said anything like this would be an unwelcome intrusion in what is essentially their land.

The incidence of two headed sharks seem to be increasing worldwide, maybe for other animals too, and nobody knows why, according to the article. One can speculate overfishing, radiation, pollution, or...? We encounter two headed creatures in ancient literature, symbolism, mythology, even the Bible. Here's the "Antarctic site" in more detail, didn't take much fact-checking. This doesn't even rate as a "conspiracy theory" as it lacks anything other than obviously hoaxed evidence.

Good to know that was a hoax. With all the ancient sites currently being discovered, perhaps it's only a matter of time before one is discovered in Antarctica.
