I am very happy enough to bronze the X1 challenge with the DS3, but my god, major unlimited kudos and praise to you Tidgney, for you are a god among GT players, this is quite a landmark achievement, even for a game, major props to you for going against the nay-sayers and proving its possible, well done

Congratulatios! You are the man! I've been trying this challenge for 3 weeks and I can't get even bronze! Like, I do laps around 1:08 but I have never finished my second lap... I will try tomorrow using L2/R2. Thanks. Oh, I bronzed Monza and Nurburgring, and they were very easy to do. But Suzuka is madness!

Props to you!
And "I told you so" to those who claimed it impossible.

I'm sure I can't do it but I'll give it a whirl one of these days. I've had an X1 for at least a month and I still haven't driven it.

You deserve...... a Matte Pink Prius. Just kidding . You deserve all of the cars in the game 10 times over.

Dont try and drive fast to achieve bronze. Unlike any other car you drive this differently, so i would recommend rather than the old "Dont accelerate till you know you don't have to take off" you can let go and put back on and the car should drive more into the corner.

You'll notice on suzuka degner 2 or w/e its called i either have to use the dirt OR (If you've watched me previously) do a Scandinavian flick which the car can do and it will slide round a bit more.

Monza the best tips are to cut the chicanes. (I was using default setup for monza and manual :S with no SRF or ABS, so haven't tried with my suzuka setup) and you will loose alot of time at the top of the course with the left long right left, try and maintain 180mph through their and you should get your bronze :D!.

I will be bringing out tutorials for each track so will get on that asap so people can help. Will be video with stop start and talking through the important parts of the laps!!! (Monza and nurb need a memory jog but should still be np).

GOD 🤬 IT !!! Tried again yesterday evening and it still didn't work :grumpy: !!! I was about to smash my DS3 against the wall   !!!

I guess I must be doing something wrong in principle. Either I can't even manage to do one or both laps or, even if, I'm 8 seconds slower than the bronze time !

Guess I must wait for the DFGT which I ordered 1 month ago (god d..., why does it take so long until Amazon Germany gets new stock :grumpy: ???) and then try again ...

Or Tidgney please provide your tutorials asap :) !!!

(P.S.: If someone has a "spare" X2010, I would be very grateful if he/she can gift it to me for the time being because I need one, in order to grind fast to level 40 when I do the endurance races (I'm currently level 37) ...)

Amazing, I am glad this is possible with the DS3 I will actually try these events now. Brilliant driving, I especially like the last chicane on Suzuka, thought you were going straight into that tire barrier!

Just two questions, did your hands hurt really bad? Did you almost break the controller in half?

My wrists were hurting quite bad but i do suffer from RSI occasionally, but i don't do what your meant to do and stop (I just lob on a support and carry on lol) so i suffer from it more i guess :S. But the fingers were hurting until i got the triggers they helped stop the cramp/finger pain :P, but thats because i was doing very long sessions on it.

The controller i have no idea how its survived i can feel its got a bit of movement when gripped hard but how it has survived all this years i have no idea, same with the playstation lol :S. Playstation had a hissy fit the other day and went choppy, so i left it 40 minutes then gave it another 6 hour session lol, ontop of the earlier one lol.

Tutorial is being made it won't be the best but hopefully will be very informative!

Possibly a very stupid question, but are you using automatic or manual?

Automatic as i couldn't do manual with L2/R2 being accelerate brake, well i could remap them i suppose but it requires so much focus as well i thought i'd keep it automatic. My Monza gold was manual and can race it in manual happily :).

Well that's good news for me because I'm quite decent with automatic, but useless with manual. Not that I think I'll ever manage gold though :indiff:

What a great achievement. I know some more guys wo did this and they all deserve respect. I totally fail with the X2010 lol, Im not even trying to get them on bronze.

This is amazing. I once tried it with DS3 because it was just so damn hard even with a steering wheel. I thought it's impossible. Anyway you deserve to be praised. You're the Ghengiskhan of the GT.👍

Well, my small feat was getting all gold braking with my right foot (which some people keep insisting you can't/shouldn't do with formula cars). But I have to admit driving with a wheel gives a great speed advantage.

Congrats.

Awesome! Just one question, did you steer with d-pad or analog sticks? I'm got used to playing GT back in the PS1 days so I'm only play with d-pad.

Wow thats amazing that you play with d-pad couldn't imagine that nowadays :embarrassed:! I play with the sticks personally.

My video thread is up: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=178969

Tutorials are being uploaded now but the lap is in their already.

Once again thankyou everyone :).

Did anyone watch this dude movie from he's Gold laps? Well i did clearly no one see that he is a big LIAR !!! Of-course you can do Gold on Suzuka, but not with Dual-shock! Those are made with steering wheel, because Dual-shock has no such throttle precision. I see how you applied throttle in those first corners and there is like 75%. This is impossible with Dual-shock and more to that. There i saw how you smoothly run through every corner, keeping steering more and more into a corner when this was required!

Can you tell us how did you magically achieved that ?? :sly: Using wheel it's easy because while you can enter into a corner then just turn wheel a little bit, when corner gets more tight then just turn wheel a little bit more and more and more. Thats it! How did you manage to do the same with Dual-Shock?

I smell a lie

No idea what your on about mate. I used a pad you can ask people who was watching me do it, you can ask people who were affected IRL by it entering/exiting my room. Its easy to stay sensitive on a dual shock on a long corner and i mean easy you can do it on any game, MW2 you can walk or run with DS same principle applies slight to left then bit more and so on. As for the acceleration if you let go entirely the car will do 50% on high speed (Well i noticed that on the hairpin at nurb anyhow), and i think you should try using L2/R2 you can get quite precise with that. And 75% is very easy on a Dual shock (When i normally race, but here it was L2/R2) I also suggest you watch the hours of footage of attempts for the proof.

I did expect a flame post at some point, but thats what i expect on any gaming forum nowadays nice try though mate.

Yes you can. And as someone who is nearing gold you need to stuff it.

I use the L2/R2, and the right analog to gear. I am pretty close to gold now :) But cant have to many tries, because my fingers hurts like hell! :P

Haha unfortunatly not but if you want someones opinion of my reaction ill get my housemate to say somert :P as she was home on her lunch break and well i just went completely nuts. Ill describe it to you though ;).

After the chicane i saw my time reference point (The pit wall) that i was in 1:03's well (1:00's which it takes 3 seconds exactly to get to the line), so got nervous so so quick and usually i get nervous in the lap but wasn't really paying attention to the time for a change.

When i cross the line i said "Come on......" hoping i had done it. Saw the time i suddenly couldn't breath, i jumped up through controller on the floor and proper jumped about as if i had won the lottery. I was shouting "Oh my god... oh my god... oh my god..." while house mate was trying to say "You done it?". I Jumped through my bedroom door into living room into hallway saying that, and holding my hands on head. Then rushed to the computer typed in chat, and went a bit crazy lol. I then couldn't stop shacking and believing it for the next 2 hours :P.

Hope that can give some sort of mental image for you :P.

Haha cheers all and yes no more excuses now ds3 users :D!

I felt that feeling after doing Mission 34 on GT4, it nearly gave me a heart attack.

Big congratulations, that is some feat!

I find it very surprising people compare often mission 34 with the Vettel challenge, the Vettel challenge is like...a gazillion times harder?

ok i got silver on all with a controller!

i want to see a video from in the car. i want to see the wheel twitch with a controller!

if it is congrats

You should be able to tell just from the driving style and speeds he's at that it's a controller dude. And I'm looking at my replay of my fastest time around Suzuka (2:11.033) and the steering still looks smooth even though I'm using a DS3

You can see slightly on mine, you can see slight twitches. But ye its hard when the whole point of lap is to drive smooth. You can see my practice attempts as proof, you can see pad lag as i would call it and twitches during the sessions.
