The Indie ThreadMusic

I'm currently digging Superchunk's 'Majesty Shredding' at the moment 👍

You know, Brad. I actually bought that album the other week for a dollar. The Boarders Books store was going out of business that day and everything was like 95% off. I've never really listened to much Superchunk, but I really like the album. :D

The new record by Kasabian was released last week and even if they're still making great music, I'm a bit disappointed by this new album.
Still worth a listen though 👍

Anything resembling Spangle will be checked out by me fo' sho', thanks for the tip.

And yes, listen to Spangle call Lili line, people.

There's also sgt. and 8mm sky.

I am here to say I just landed myself in the new St. Vincent album.

OH.
MY.
GOD.

really,

GOD.

I have it. It's epic. Love it.

Saw St Vincent perform on Jimmy Fallon, and I had to have the album immediately!

Ignore the screen flip:

Bringing this thread back up from the grave. :D

Hop Along, Queen Ansleis
It's like sensitive and cutesy folk rock... or something.

Love their energy. There's a catchy hook in pretty much every song and their albums are (unfortunately really) short.

Allen Stone
This dude looks funny, but HE HAS A VOICE OF GOLD.

Thread revival!

I'm looking for a good indie album to get in the new year. Are there any albums anyone is looking forward to? I haven't really seen anything noteworthy come out so far this year.

Weekends by Pacific UV and Attack on Memory by Cloud Nothings are two pretty good 2012 releases. Also Pontiak's Echo Ono.

Also looking forward to Strange Talk's debut album which should be out in the next few months.

Cursive have an album coming out late February called "I Am Gemini", which should hopefully be great. Their last couple of albums have been more on the indie rock side. M. Ward also has an album coming out soon, as far as indie-folk goes.

There's a new Good Old War EP (or album?) coming out soon. Loved their debut, was "meh" on the second release, but I hope they'll bounce back.

Sleigh Bells has a new album coming out in a few weeks. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I enjoy them.

Wild Nothing put out a few songs last week.

Anyone like Hospitality? Fun cheerful band!

Anybody heard of Yuck? Awesome band, I listened to this song for about a week straight in Spain last year.

Finally some other indie lovers! I'm alone in my area, they all like dubstep and other derge.

I've recently rediscovered Calexico. They're pioneers of a genre called "Desert Noir". A lot of Tex-Mex, jazz, and indie folk mixed into their sound. Really enjoyable stuff. If you like bands like Bright Eyes, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, etc, then I'm sure you'll enjoy these guys.

Nice song by the way. Reminds me a bit of Depeche Mode. You might also like the Editors...

New Beach House album Bloom comes out today! I'm downloading it from iTunes as I type. Really been looking forward to this one for a while now.

Also coming out today is another album I'll be purchasing. Best Coast's new album The Only Place. I've always liked Best Coast. They have that cheerful lo-fi beach rock kinda sound, which I'm always a fan of.

I was a little disappointed to be honest, I loved them enough to drive 3.5 hours to see them but they were just okay live. They used all rear lighting the entire time so you never saw anyones face or even them playing their instruments. Jst annoying silhouettes that blinded the audience. We left early... Still like their music though.

Ended up really liking this album. Though until recently I didn't realize that there wasn't two different vocalists in the band. Interesting range.

Yeah, I thought they were just alright. I know the band, but I don't really listen to them. So for me, their entire setlist sounded like one continual song. I thought they were nice. I wouldn't have bothered seeing them had they not opened for Arcade Fire.

Oh yeah, Victoria Legrand has a very very unique singing voice. But I love it. After listening to the album a bunch of times, I can say I really like it. But I prefer their previous album Teen Dream.
