The Ferraris cannot be traded.
They can however be gotten through a Level 24 ticket which can be traded, and I happen to have one.
You have a 1 in 3 chance of getting the specific car you want as all you can get is the FGT, F2007, and F2010.

So what we can do is start a sort of "ticket chain" for those that don't have the car we need.
I can send the ticket to the first person, they can save their game data to a USB/another profile then send the ticket to the next person, rinse, repeat.

I say we use the F2007 just because I think it's better looking. :dopey:

I have a practice session up if anyone wants to join.

1472 4711 0167 3382 9262

I can't join up but if you're able, try to do some testing with the different cars to see if you can get them on similar levels. And see what it takes to get each one to run lap times around 1:13.826. It would be awesome if we could find a range where all 3 of them could compete together!

Hit a 1:12.943 today in the FGT with racing hards on and room for improvement.

Then the best I was able to do in the F10, which isn't broken in or tuned, in ten minutes with 1:16.543.

The FGT's a beast to run around Monaco in, power oversteer galore unless you equip TC, then it's a bit slower.

As far as which I'd go for; probably the FGT while allowing TC.

It'd be great to have all three but I don't think you can. If you limit it to Ferrari F1's it only lets you have Ferrari F1's. If you don't limit it, you can have the FGT but it won't let you enter the Ferrari F1's.

Also, room's closed, gotta run to work now. Cheers

D'oh!! I knew that, but I guess it never hurts to dream. lol I really hope we can figure out a way to make the F1 cars work, I love the cockpit view in those things and at Monaco it would be fantastic!

Honestly. I would not mind doing time trials with FGT on soft tires. Reducing power till it runs real world times. Once this is found using full wings. Then use this PP and run FGT's with optional wing ballast HP mix and match to get PP. ;)

However of we do Ferrari's it would not bother me. I am about to do some testing.

Also I do believe the cars are allowed to rub softs during Qualfying. Someone set this straight please. Could be wrong.

Room number asap

You can run any compound you want during quali. . The only tire limitations that come into play during a GP weekend are there to keep down tire use. And you're forced to use the tires you used in the last round of quali. to start the race with (which is why you see them go out at the last possible second to conserve their tires and only set one flying lap. We have no way of carrying over tire wear between sessions so there's no reason to limit compounds during sessions either.

From the reg's:

Competitors are allowed only a limited number of tyre sets during a race event: eleven dry, four intermediate, three wet. Each tyre must be marked with a unique identifier during a race event. During the practice sessions drivers are limited to use of three sets of dry tyres and certain sets must be returned to the supplier before the second and third sessions. If qualifying and starting the race in dry tyres, drivers who make it to the third qualification session must use the tyres they set their grid time with to start the race. Cars must race on both type of dry compounds during a race unless intermediate or wet tyres have been used by that car in that race.

1:15.33x using F10 on soft tires. That was my second lap of my first tune try and About fifth Lap ever in this car. Had 2.5 mile on it. So I truly think a 1:13 is doable with the F10.

So. With that Wardez. Tires seem best left open. Obviously we would use softs to qualify on. As well would want to start race on Hards.

I think the best optio would be start on hards then leave strategy/pit window open.

1:14.7 with F10 on softs. Also seen the 2007 is lil lighter. So wonder about matching PP work with these two machines. Maybe match HP and leave weight alone. Test test

Awesome Owens. With a little work we can hit 13s on softs.

and i f you're wondering, yes I'm at work typing this with my phone.

and btw, shouldn't we open up a new testing thread for this asap?

Agree. Brandon will surely have all the info compiled into a new thread tomorrow. ;)

1:14.88x in a four lap race. Putting together a good lap will indeed result in a 1:13.xxx I would not be surprised to see a 1:12.xxx

Room closed btw. I am headed for bed. 7500 holes to drill tomorrow.

When we did it I got down to 1:12.8. Reventon10 was down to 1:09.xx in the F10. Tool was in the 1:10 range with the F2007. So your times for now are way off. The lap record with no aids (no ABS) is sub 1:10.

Its pretty tricky, both cars have similar performance.

I guarantee our races have the fastest F1 drivers.....D-UNEXPECTED001 & reventon10. So your "triple crown" isnt really a real test against the top drivers. Many of your guys are 5 seconds a lap off the pace.

I just did a 1:11.884 in the F2007 after a handful of laps on softs. I can probably go a second faster since the tune's stock and I just bought it so it's not broken in.

I haven't tried the F10 on softs yet but I really like the '07's handling out the box. She stops on a dime and doesn't hesitate when you power on, just wants more and more.

You've only seen two people post times, and they were for testing. I don't know why you feel the need to say that but you've really dug into the wrong place.

All I can say is that you can't comprehend the caliber of competition here until you see it for yourself. You either take the challenge or you don't.

And as you can see in my post, before you edited in that nice little quip about "guaranteeing" the fastest drivers. You don't have a qualifier, people just randomly sign up and race. The quality of racecraft isn't ensured and it just lacks polish. We're doing a full qualifier with knock out live qualifying guaranteeing a field of drivers close to a full 16, not just 9.

I'm personally inviting certain people that I know are some of the fastest drivers around. So we'll wait and see as to what series garners the most prestige.
Don't talk so soon.

I realize you ran mediums on your F2007 for you series.
And if you want to talk potential. I just bought an F2007, did an oil change, bought softs, then took it out to Monaco and set an '11.8 after 6 laps with no aids and only the transmission set to the lowest with no other changes. And that's also in free run mind you - no draft.
But that's just me.

We don't have any intention of being the fastest or best group on GTP and we're not trying to compete against other leagues. Also we are not directly involved with the "triple crown", that was something put together independently by another GTP member. Or goal is try to replicate real-world racing events to the best of our ability using the tools of GT5 and to offer the races to all GTP members. We are not a league in the typical sense, we don't have a points structure or weekly events and anybody is free to do a qualifying attempt for our races.

Ok, back to business. I will try to get a new thread for the GP of Monaco together over the next day or two. Right now I'm researching the history of the race and reviewing all the real-world regulations as well as collecting artwork but I'll try to start getting something together soon. For now, let's keep the discussion going here since everybody seems to be still checking in here. I wanted to figure out what car we are going to use first before I put anything up though.

It's sounds like the F1 cars might work out afterall. The good thing about Monaco is that it might neutralize some of the differences between the two F1 models. If we can find settings that get both cars running pretty similar lap times then I think we should be good. Even if the settings are different, we can set the restrictions for one car and let those drivers into the track and then change the restrictions for the other car and let the rest in the track. I think the real question will be whether to use hp/weight restrictions or PP restrictions.

For qualifiers, I'm thinking we will probably hold qualifying events during the week like we did for the 500. People can schedule a time to show up and do a qualifier run, 4 laps (lap 1 warm up, lap 4 cool down) and we'd take the fastest lap instead of the average of the 2. We only did the average because that's how they do it for the Indy 500. Then the top 14 (plus me and Owens) move on to knock out qualifying to determine the starting grid. If we get well over 14 people trying to qualify then we could have a half-distance "GP2 race" for those that didn't qualify for the main race.

I'm very interested to get some testing done, I've only done a limited amount of driving in either car (I have both) and probably need to get them both broken in. I will have a couple hours this evening (between 5pm and 7pm EDT) for testing if anybody wants to get some practice in and help out with some testing. I think it would be a good idea to get 2 drivers, each in different F1 cars, together on track to see if they can keep up with each other.

If anybody else does any testing during the day post the results here so I can start adding it to my data for the new thread. 👍

Sounds great Stigs.

That's what really separates you from the rest. All these real life races are one offs.

Are you gonna try 24 Hours of Le Mans as well? Since that one's kind of soon I think you could skip it and concentrate on hosting a 24 Hours of Nurburgring event. Just like the one Kaz participated in himself. It would be so awesome. Maybe doing 4 hours, just like the real life duration of one driver stint.

As far as history, data, and any nuances of F1 goes, I can be your man. I've been watching F1 all my life and have plenty to share if asked for it.

The qualifier idea sounds good. That's exactly what I was thinking. Qualifier to get into the race, then knockout qualifying the day(s) before.

I'll get in on the test with you. I'll have my Turtlebeach headset so I'll come in loud and clear.

I got less the. 10 laps in this car ever. Only other tine I have driven the 2007 was racing you at Laguna.

So very very green and new to these. I would expect to be off seasoned racers.

Both of the 24 Hour events are on our "wish list", I like your idea of doing the duration of 1 driver stint. We weren't sure about how to go about trying to replicate a 24 hour event but that's a great idea. I like the idea of having a buddy over and doing actual driver changes every hour or two! We're going to try to schedule races to be close to their real-life counterparts but it won't always be possible. Yesterday we were discussing doing the Daytona 400 around the 4th of July. 👍

Wardez, I'm a big F1 nut too, been watching it religiously for the last 10 years and have been fortunate enough to attend 4 F1 races in person (3 at Indy and 1 at Montreal). You can be our "official F1 consultant". :) That's why I really want to make the F1 cars work, I don't care that they'll all be red because I think it would be an incredible experience in them, something I think the FGT would fall short of.

I'll post on here when I'm able to get a room open for testing, should be around 5pm EDT or so. I'm already starting to get excited for it! This will probably be some of the most fun "testing" I've ever done! lol

Who is this guy? Can we give him the boot? lol

Why so serious dude? It is a video game you know right?

I think some people might feel like we're stepping on their toes by hosting similar races or cars to what their leagues race full-time. That's understandable, but we're not trying to compete with anyone. We're just offering another option for people who want to participate in a structured, clean, and exciting race without having to make the commitment of joining a league.

Although, in a broken-in and familiar car I would put Owens on par with the best drivers on this board. No doubt about that at all!! 👍

That's what I'm saying..its about fun, clean and structured racing. And of course anyone who drives these cars in a full time league will definitely be faster than most of us. But also if you put some time in you'll figure it out. Like I said it's a video game and its not a big secret how to tune a car to drive a track and lay down a fast time. But I will say that there are some freaky fast alien like gamers out there. And I'm not trying to step on their toes. I guess I just don't like the whole elitism thing. Like you can be the fastest out there but what happens when they catch an accident/damage? Answer - they probably won't be the fastest that day. So in the end does all that talk matter? I dont think so....maybe he should put his wheel/controller where his mouth is, lol! I'm not offended by him and he doesnt get to me. Its just that I hate elitism and I hope to see that guy on the track. And I hope Owens smokes him leavin him in his dust!!!

Just FYI, you might want the edit your post. The mods hate when people try to bypass the swear filter and the punishment is usually swift and painful. Just trying to keep you out of trouble. 👍

Some people have a strong drive to compete and sometimes that comes across as confrontational. I'm one that just wants to have fun and be in a good race without people driving backwards or acting like fools and could generally care less if I'm fastest or where I finish. It's nice to win and be fast, but as long as I have fun that's all I care about. And meeting new friends to have clean races with! :)

Thanks for the heads-up, I will do. I'm not like that either or dont want to come off like that. I just want to have fun with you guys like I did on Sunday and that guy is trying to ruin our fun. But he can't get us down so I'm not worried about him.
