the "just plain ugly" car thread

Those Impalas have huge backseats. I am 6'4" and I can sit in them and I don't even have to sit up straight.

Doesn't help that they aren't the best looking cars, though.

The car is alright overall, but that rear end makes me want to barf.

I agree. That rear end (specifically the bit with the tail lights) is awful looking. The rest of the car isn't bad looking, though.

I liked that impala. Besides, those tailights, possibly was to revive how some of the older impalas had that...well, different styles, but the idea, quite teh same.

But I still love the 96 Impala...even though is nearly same as the Caprice.

Always liked that Impala.

And that gen Malibu's weren't bad on the inside, but I agree the outside is ugly.

Fiat really screwed Lancia up. Almost makes you happy they're all rebadged Chryslers now if this is the best the Italians could come up with themselves.
It's a shame it was so ungainly, as they were good cars under the skin - basically shares its platform with the Alfa Romeo 166, but a little more comfort-biased.

And we got some use out of it - they used its rear lights on the Morgan Aeromax, albeit rotated down a little:

And Morgan stole the headlights from the R50/2/3 Cooper.

I wonder how much more of the car they sourced from other manufacturers.

I always thought the front end looked like some sort of fish. Never understood what they were going for with it.

The followup one was no beauty queen either.

I can see that. Half of what GM was putting out at the time had some sort of fish resemblance in the front end.

I dont know what has been posted, and I dont know what has not been posted, but some nominations are just wrong!

Anyway, here are my personal list of the top 30 ugliest cars of all time. There are so many ugly cars out there I could'nt choose just 1. And yet, there are surely a bunch I've missed. But one thing is for sure, Chrysler is the undisputed king of producing ugly cars, with Citroen a close 2'nd!

It could be fun to work on this list and get to the 50 ugliest, but then I'll need imput from others...

Personally I'd disagree with the Citroen DS and Nissan Cherry.

I LOVE the DS, it's a beautiful car and the Safari wagons are even better. (Probably due to my wagon obsession) For a car of it's time, it's beautiful and still is to this day.

Cherry...that would be a more questionable one for most people. But I love Japanese classics and the Cherry coupe is a funky and cool design. Love the taillights.
