the "just plain ugly" car thread

Facelifted Toyota 86. Now ugly AND underpowered!

IMO I don't think it's ugly enough for here, but to each his own. Probably looks better in person. The tail lights on it look even better than the pre-facelift so it's not all bad.

How about the rear of the 430 Spyder?

The Bitter Insignia is horrifying. The rear lights even have those nasty covers on them, just to add to the "£100 worth of tacky bits from Halfords and Ebay" vibe.

Not pleasant in the slightest.

But on the other hand, no one will believe you when you tell them it's a Nissan. Everytime I look at this car I see more and more Alfa SZ/RZ influences.

Being a Nissan doesn't make it prettier. More interesting, sure. Maybe even more cool. But not pretty.

It's certainly not pretty. A pretty good conversation piece perhaps, but not a pretty one. I was referring more to the fact you'd assume it's something from a very bad Italian drug trip funded by Eastern Europe.

The subsequent Zagato Gavia was slightly better, if not a bit bloated and... bland.

You've hit the nail on the head, -Fred-. If I didn't know about this car, it would be easily do confused as a Italian Lada Riva.

It's like a dog that's been stung by a bee. Swollen, pitiful, and makes you feel bad for laughing at it.

I actually like it...

I love a lot of Zagato stuff, they've made some great pieces of automotive design, but I'm struggling to think of anything they've created that you could label as 'pretty'

Make it wider and lower and it would look better IMO.

I like that..

The front reminds me of the R33 GT-R LM

Compared to the 510/610/710/240z I find it and the F10 to be odd and not appealing.

But looks are subjective, to each their own.

That's never been my reason for liking something--I genuinely think it's attractive, and it's certainly more attractive than what it's based on.

If you think that's attractive, alright, I won't stop you. it's jsut that front bumper and nose that felt out of place. Made me dislike it.

At least is far better than that melted Diablo. Yuck.

Erm...thank you?

I think the rear detracts far more than the front--entirely too much honeycomb going on.

And just to show I don't think the Ferrari/Zagato combination is entirely above reproach:

That car is much closer to stylish than ugly.
