the "just plain ugly" car thread

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you the Tata Magic Iris:

This "car", if you can call it that is so ill proportioned that in comparison the Multipla looks like an automotive masterpiece.

Front end reminds me of a first-gen Porter Cab--yeah I suppose they're ugly duckings, but I love them. This...not so much.

So, what "magic" does this car actually have?

It's not super stylish, but I don't think it's real ugly, either. Citroen went daring with the front, and this is something that Citroen has done many times in the past.

Not that ugly. My car geek uncle has an older one with an awesome exhaust, so I may be a bit biased.

One of my managers at my soon-to-be-former job has a 1990-1996 Pontiac Grand Prix.

It hurts to watch it struggle.
That's more generic and bland than ugly.

It is, but the one my manager has is an absolute rustbox and a poopbox car.
The fact that the car rusts doesn't have anything to do with whether it's ugly or not. Crapboxes like Chevettes rust, and so do F40's, Countachs, and Cudas, and these are all stylish cars.

I think that's a brilliant little car. Probably fantastic use of space by maximizing all the interior volume possible in as small of an exterior package as possible. Incredibly short wheelbase probably makes it very maneuverable.

Perfect for tiny crowded streets and tiny alleyways that no doubt litter the cities of India.

It is certainly no worse than some of the junk created in the west over time... but also practicality can be attractive

All very difficult on the internet I find, people think one is being, oh I don't know, not like them I suppose... but without any agenda or 'Ohhh look at me', myself I have owned all sorts of cars from top drawer sports to heavy executive cars, to vans, HGV's 4x4's (both Chelsea tractor and proper) and even a few actual tractors... plus a vast amount of motorcycles

If I was forced to pick one vehicle it would most likely be one of these... I simply adore them, they are practical, do exactly what they were designed for and what I really like ..... you are pretty much ignored by people when you drive one around. Which I still do on occasion.

If I had to choose truly fugly... for it would be one of these... because even without the bit lobbed on the back for who knows what reason, it would have been horrendous anyway... way too much Jinro soju at lunch time it seems to me.

I know that far eastern tastes can vary greatly from the western ideas (I always quite liked the Tokyo Dept Store that was crucifying Santa in the window at Xmas) ... but even so, this is one nasty looking vehicle

and so do F40's

I've never seen plastic, titanium and carbon fiber rust.

The more I look at them, the more I find the new "facelifted-facelifted" Mini to be astonishingly ugly. If we could transfer that front end into an human face, it'd be quite shocked and horrified. What's with those tacked on intakes at the bottom of the bumper?

Especially when you compare it with the R56... It's just... bloated, it looks like a chinese copycat.

First of all sorry for the late reply.
Surely it does it's best with the circumstances it has to deal with. But the design doesn't help it. The original Fiat 500 and Mini also had small proportions and maximized space and they are iconic now. This, I don't think it will become one. :)

The Volvo Experimental Safety Car. The hood length, big bumper, and face result in a really ugly design.
