The Kujira Crown (Might not sell it!)

Well, a small update. Will be working on rust repair this Saturday. However, one slight issue I ran into recently...

Parents found out about my purchase through checking my bank account and finding $800 missing. Then proceeded to yell at me asking what I purchased. Blatantly told them it was a project car. In response as of today, my mom told me she just took all of my money out of my account and closed it... There goes all of the summer money I saved up. Hooray... What goes up, must come down. Of course.

Your parents sound like a strict bunch; or they just think cars are the worst thing ever.
Either way, that's a bummer.
:ouch:

Dude your 18 and you mom STOLE from you. Do something about that. Thats just what it sounds like and if thats the way your family operates well okay, but still. It sounds like your an adult and she stole from you.

If her name is on the account, it's her money.

Don't be absurd you two. Look at how absolutely good and original that car is. It isn't missing A THING. The chrome trim, the emblems, the entire interior, the original seats, door panels, it's all there. It's not like he found a freaking carcass to put over a tube frame. You cannot overbuild such a survivor.

Yes I know it's got no engine, but that is no reason to exagerate the lenghts of the build. The lack of an engine and gearbox opens up a world of streetability for the car in the form of a modern engine/trans combo which will make it easy for the car to cruise around, make some decent power and get ooohs and aaahs at shows and stuff; heck, even daily driving it if he wanted.

Building it for something as demanding and punishing as drifting would most likely destroy the most charming aspect of the car: how freaking good it has remained for so many years. I really, REALLY think (and encourage) the survivor condition of the car should be respected and just modernize the parts that will allow Medigo to drive it safely everywhere.

This x infinity.

Sorry to hear that Medigo. I hope you can find another solution to this.

Haha, that's ****ed up. I thought you could make your own decisions and spend your own hard earned dough when you were 18.. :)

I love the idea of a 2JZ auto, toyed with the idea for my Cressida.. Or a 1UZ swap maybe..?

Anyway, tell your mom to **** off and have fun at that lock up, seems like good times! Oh, and next time tell her you bought weed, crack or hookers.. That should shut them up, it's not exactly like they can do anything about it other than yell :)

It's part of my culture. Family always supports the younger ones, even at the age of 18. So my parents still have "control" over my older brother and I. So yes, it has gotten really bothersome the fact that they find that spending our own money is "bad."

I'll make my own account in the morning... Getting sick of this, this is the second time it's happened to me. Even though the first time my bank account was closed. I didn't even use a dollar of it... And yes, the account was co-signed with my mother. So she had control over it... -sigh- Time to start all over again. Lucky I got a raise recently...

My father's also freaking out right now due to the fact that there's no title for the vehicle. Though for my car's age, I'm sure all that's needed is a bill of sale. Which I have of course.

My mother lied about closing my account. But then she acted all smug about it after I deposited my paycheck this morning... To my disgust, I blatently said that she lied. And then she expected an apology from me before I called her a liar. How much worse can things get...?

Anyone have any ideas for a color I could repaint the car in? And please nothing ridiculous. But I'm hoping for something that stands out from the norm of grey, black, white, and silver. I'm thinking midnight blue or some kind of ruby red?

That sucks man but at least the account is not closed. Just chill (As hard as that may be sometimes) and it will all pass, to get to something great there are always some obstacles.
Anyway, I agree that it would look pretty awesome in midnight blue
What about Jerez black from bmw?

If you're going with red I would consider arena red

and matador red if you want something a little more attention catching and modern looking

My friend suggested the midnight blue from the "Devil Z" in Wangan Midnight. I am thinking something with some shine. Something to stand out, but not be outrageous. The Lexus Matador Red looks good. Though...maybe slightly darker? I believe the Arena red seems a tad more fitting towards the Crown due to its age.

They are strict AND they hate cars. Actually the majority of my family hates cars. Apart from my brother and one cousin.

Good grief. Your mother sounds like a despicable woman.

As for the colors, perhaps you should look into classic teal. I think it could turn out nicely on the Crown.

I particularly like the shade of teal on the Ford Fairlane.

Well...especially when she was "trolling" me... Apparently she said she just wanted to "see" my reaction to her telling me about how she closed my account. Funny...how I told her that I believed she enjoyed aggravating people. But she denies it. Hooray....

Somebody should put her in her place...

Yep, take it easy Medigo. Just keep a positive attitude and don't be discouraged. And I agree with motortrend on the Matador Red Pearl or the Arena Red from the Porsche 930, they have that feel that will flow with the car, if your going for red.

The Midnight Blue would look great on the Toyota though, espically with the 2JZ inside it. Almost similar to Wagan Midnight, but with a Toyota.

But what about purple? I can picture the Crown in Midnight Purple from a BCNR33 GTR. It's conserative and unique approach on the Crown.

I think a deep blue, with a clear coat. That would look nice.

Classic Toyota Racing Colours. That would be highly awesome. And entirely un-original. Think of the bar-ammo...

"Yeah, mine was the same car they used in the (Made up Touring Car or Rally series). Its so legit.

How about a dark purple? I think it would look excellent, I just can't think of any really nice purple cars atm.

There's quite a few cars in purple, but these are two I can think of right now:

Midnight Purple from a BCNR33 Skyline GTR

Plum Crazy from a Dodge Challenger or the older Dodges

I think the Midnight Purple would look real nice with the Crown.

My friend that's working with me did suggest gunmetal grey. However, somehow I feel like it's just too...common. Living in a world of grey, black, white, and silver. The midnight purple sounds good, just unsure how it'd turn out...

Cleaned up the trunk of the car. Though we still don't have the key to it, we were able to get the battery going and ALL of the electronics work! Even the 8-track player! Needs a new antenna, but I'm sure the radio would work. Wipers...sort of work. All the lights are still working and the bulbs are still good. Here's a picture of it in the workshop.

^Locksmith I'm guessing. I lost a boat key once. Cost a fortune for him to drive about an hour to the lake and then get the boat running. Anyway, I'm loving the project and good for you for starting something like that at such an age.

The owner does actually have the keys. However, when we went to purchase the car. We had to go through a friend who helped us load the vehicle. He didn't know where the keys were but knew that the owner still had possession of them. Told us to give an address and expect it to come in the mail sometime. As of now, the car's unlocked and sitting in a secure workshop.

We just used a jump starter to get the battery going to try the electronics. Still all good! :D

I second something dark with pearl in it, purple or aurbergine for instance. If you ask me, there's nothingmore appropriate on an old Toyota sedan than something so dark it looks black until the lightning is correct.. with all the chrome it'll work well.
