The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

I can't wait for these car companies to start using their new technology in their road cars. Imagine the R8 E-Tron with this kind of technology. Or maybe a sporty variant Prius. Ir even maybe the supposedly hybrid Supra coming soon.

What you guys think about Audi car. It have less KERS and top speed of car is lt lower then the rest, but is more balanced through corners.

I think it will have big problems with traffic in races.

It has lower KERS but if my calculations are correct with a 4 litre twin turbo V8 it has the most powerfullest combustible engine and can easily sort out the top speed with gearing.

What are you talking about the Audi doesn't have an 8 it still has a six with a set up that is similar to the f1 cars.

Mistyped that also running 4 bar of boost on the turbo aswell which is more than an f1 car with nearly 2.5 times the cc

Yes I know that, what I'm talking about it turbo set up and energy recovery set up (flywheel and were going to use exhaust heat), not engine output numbers or liter size. It's obvious that those are quite different since ACO/FIA isn't as restrictive with WEC. Oh and they're also V6 format, but since you were trying to correct me you could have also said "they aren't using a diesel engine either"

Lotus new LMP1. At least it looks good.
Won;t be at Silverstone due to late engine supplier change however.

The livery is meh, better than the white and blue/black affair though.

It also looks less spindly, and dare I say more attractive than the others.

The fools. Don't they know your car has to be white this year! They won't stand a chance!

I hope it goes as well as it looks. 👍

I'm so tempted to make a Chris Bangle reference right now.

Anyhow, neat. They didn't rip off anyone...yet  Seriously though, it looks great.

Called the ARX-04b, it's Honda's first closed-cockpit LMP2. Like previous LMP2 and IndyCar projects, it's a joint development between HPD and Wirth Research, and packs Honda's HR28TT engine – a 2.8-liter twin-turbo V6 based on (and using many of the same components as) the J35 engine you'd find in a contemporary Acura. Designed to exceed the latest safety regulations, the ARX-04b features low-drag bodywork, quick-change front and rear panels, the same locking fuel filler system that Honda pioneered for Indy, top-exit exhaust to meet noise regulations, a 75-liter fuel tank and a gearbox that can easily be optimized for individual circuits.

Sound is the least of my worries. As long as the racing is decent I couldn't care less! Plus we have the GT cars to keep us happy on the sound front ;)

SMP, Strakka, and Millenium have withdrawn from the WEC P2 grid this weekend.

SMP are subject to international sanctions because Crimea
Strakka aren't really ready
Millenium has their money tied up in a world bank fiasco.

This pretty much hands the win to Oak Racing.

The ELMS grid appears to be alright though

Edit: While SMP is facing sanctions, they confirmed their cars(2 Oreca-Nissans) will be on the grid this weekend, along with the KCMG Oreca-Nissan, and the G-Drive Oak-Morgan-Nissan (Not the new Ligier)

Strakka are being penalized for not showing up to the prologue by being limited to two engines for the entire season. No reason for Strakka to "waste" those engines at Silverstone and Spa while they work out the kinks from the entire package, so they'll be testing on their own instead. Really stupid of the rulemakers to unintentionally marginalize a team for part of the season because of such trivial reasons.

Unfortunately, as hawkeye reports, there'll only be 4 LMP2 cars at the WEC opener. Big chance for KCMG though to get their maiden WEC class win, as only OAK properly stand in the way now.

My friend and I are planning to pull an all nighter. I can't wait. :D

I'm also learning French as my second language at school so hopefully in a few years I'll be able to go there in person. :D
