The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

A privately entered Vantage which had received automatic entry was also withdrawn.
The Craft Aston withdrawal isn't a surprise since their drivers (MacDowall and O'Young) have been put in the #99 Pro AMR car. The Millennium racing withdrawal is bad news though, they have 2 decent cars, 2 good driver line-ups - both which could fight for a class podium - and they've had to miss the first 2 rounds of WEC and Le Mans because a sponsor hasn't paid up. 👎

Does anyone know if you can still get the free streaming from the WEC website? I saw something about paying for an app now, but wasn't sure if they still have the free stream.

Most of the time, some evil unlicensed streams of Eurosport appear on the net. You should not try to look for them and nobody can send you a PM with websites that have such inmoral content ;) ;) ...

Audi R18 - Le Mans Aero Spec

Judging by those photos, has Audi found a work around in the regulations for the Big Honking Holes? From the photos, it has appeared that the holes have moved to inside of the wheel-well, ala the Toyota TS020, from where they were on top of the wheel-well. Now the curious thing will be what the ACO says on the matter, because when Toyota found out the way to extend the rear wing whilst keeping the main plane the maximum length, the ACO were okay with it.

According to Radio Le Mans, both Toyota's are in Low Downforce Le Mans trim.

Both normal Audi's are running High downforce, the third Audi is a Longtail and Porsche are running the only downforce kit they have.

Porsche get their first pole with N. Jani and M. Lieb, stealing it with the last lap of the session. Stunning session.

Grid is:
14 Porsche
8 Toyota
2 Audi
7 Toyota
20 Porsche
1 Audi
3 Audi

RLM said the Audi's were hitting the limiter on the straight, which seems odd in quali trim.

I am a victim of my own love. I am a huge petrol-head.

In touring cars my love is for the BTCC, WTCC and DTM. I am not really attracted to the ADAC Procar or the ETCC and I struggle to see the Aussie V8's.

The World Rally Championship and European Rally Championship are my two favourite rallying series. The WRC I see on ITV4 and the ERC I see on Eurosport.

In GT's the Blancpain GT Series (both Spring and Endurance), British GT, PWC, GT Open. The Blancpain and GT Open I watch on Youtube, the BGT's on Channel 4 here in the UK and the PWC on the series website.

And most junior single seat series in the FR 3.5, IndyCar, FIA F3, British F3, EuroFormula Open, F4, F1 and the new Formula E.

Of course saving the best till last the ELMS and WEC. I just don't have time in my week to see them all which is what I would like to do.

Would I be wise dropping the single-seat interest and just going with the touring cars, GT's and the Endance guys? Is single-seat racing good enough compared to the GT's and Endurance cars right now to merit keeping any kind of following? I am half way through watching the 6hr of Silverstone on YouTube and I am utterly addicted. It is the only series that makes it hard to switch off. It would be a tough call but I can live with it. I don't think I could live with stopping the WEC and ELMS. I would not be happy.

Any help and advice would be welcome.

Single seaters hold no interest for me, apart from Auto GP.

Go with endurance racing, you won't regret it.
