The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Emerson Fittipaldi has shown up on the FIA driver rating list.

Possible return to racing for the Sao Paolo round of the WEC?

Edit: Bronze rating for him.

FS2 will be using their own announcers for the WEC race and it seems that they are not covering the 1st hour of the race. The race starts at 5pm CT but the TV listing on Foxsports.com and Directv both show it running from 6pm to 11pm.

Krohn Racing have a bought a Ligier JS P2. I'm not sure if it's for USC or WEC from the press release but the Ligier is a beautiful car so one more in the world is good news wherever it races.

E- It looks like it's a WEC entry since it has been retweeted by them. The LMP2 class has been a bit sparse this season so additional entries are a welcome bonus, even if they have amateur drivers.

I have a bunch of pics from today! I will post them soon! I got invited into Ultimate Racing's garage to talk with the drivers, mechanics and the crew chief. I learned a lot about the setup of the cars! I got to sit in the Civic and the WRX STI. The trophy was also pretty cool! ( they won today) I also was invited into Dempsey Racing's garage. I got to talk with the drivers and about everyone on the team! Porsche got pope position in WEC.

Some pics I took:

I think Olivier Pla and Alex Brundle may end up racing for Nissan next season, they seem ready for LMP1. Maybe Jann Mardenborough will join them if another season in GP3 isn't viable.

I thought the whole point of the GP3 drive was to give Jann more downforce experience for the LMP program. Unless they reach deep into their pockets and put him in F1, but that seems unlikely.

ESM have dropped out of Petit Le Mans and will instead race P2 class in the 6 Hours Of Shanghai.

Big news! Nissan held a press conference today and want an American driver for their lmp1 program. GT Academy drivers in their sites- http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=3b7e85c6366c81b77d50b7b35&id=e6a6d79532
Nissan are dreaming. You need the best driver line-up possible if you want to take on teams that employ the likes of Lotterer, Duval, Buemi, Davidson, Nakajima and Jani, and currently no available American or GT Academy drivers are anywhere near that class. You hire the likes of Pla, Heidfeld, JP Oliveira and Vergne if he becomes available. You might take Mardenborough, but no other GT Academy driver is anywhere near good enough at the moment. Beyond the Englishman, any GT Academy hires, particularly American ones, would be predominantly for PR and should be restricted to 3rd cars in less significant races (i.e. a third car at COTA next year).

Autosport wrote a bit about the drivers they will use here: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/115942 (second half of the article). The US GT Academy driver would be for 2016.

Well, I sure ain't paying to watch this. I guess I'll go sleep in disappointment now then wait for the Singapore GP to air, at least I don't need to pay for that.

Well, Fox Sports 2 is supposed to be airing the WEC from Circuit of the Americas, hitting Info actually shows the race listed, but I'm actually watching a football game. Unbelievable!

I assume because of the delay they had, but why do they need the same game on 2 channels?
