The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

For the past month I have somewhat regularly stayed up for about 22 consecutive hours. I used to record the 24h of Le Mans and watch it over the course of 3 or 4 days. but I think I might try to stay up for all 24 hours, because I prefer to watch WEC while it is live.

@R1600Turbo I see a lot of people on here saying that Nissan will retire early/24h test run... But I don't think so I think they will have at least 1 competitive car and at least 1 finisher. lol. It would be disappointing to see all 3 of their cars retire!

GO GTACADEMY WINNERS! GRAN TURISMO DRIVERS FOR THE WIN! lol  :gtpflag:

This. :(

So, any tips from experienced 24ers? :P

Sleep in the day before, shut out the world, drink Red Bull or Mountain Dew Energy drinks, always have the fear that your favorite team may not be there if you do fall asleep...and yeah that will keep you up.

It's worked for me for several years now.

EDIT: also as Holden said.

The Vette's always have a live on board, and thus it's quite loud at full tilt so if you fall asleep and they happen to pit, when that engine roars back to life you'll be awake...trust me I've done it with headphones a couple years ago.

Can I get this in wallpaper form? That's a cool... reveal cloth?

You must be or know a few Toyota fans. :) ... Another way to help stay awake is to consider how many 458s are on the track in GT AM that have not yet retired... :D

To stay interested I suggest full timing / streaming / foruming. Be connected on Twitter or GTPlanet to connect with other people watching the race. And analyze data from different cars. It is very interesting and time consuming I heard my name in the 24 hours of Daytona and the Qualifying for 24 hours of Nurburgring. "Just got a question from 'Ryan Blevins' on Twitter." Huh what? Whats happening? lol.

No I'm just a Vette fan, they dont always win.

I'm doubting of maybe buying the FIA WEC livestream package for Le Mans only (it's a tenner).
But seeing there will be regular streams around, you guys think it's worth purchasing? Do you have added features like the ability to watch onboards at night when the regular TV coverage stops?

Yes. You can watch several onboard cams, plus it gives you access to timming and GPS that let you follow your favorite car, or category.

And the Radio Le Mans coverage stays on, even in the night, shuffling between the cars and giving insightful comments about the race. It is worthy, IMO. If you happen to have the Chromecast thingy, banzai: 24 hours of great racing in the big screen!

I've been supporting the streamming since last year. I think it is great, since here in Brazil there aren't any broadcaster willing to cover WEC races, let alone a 24 hour event.

I think you've convinced me. Got the PC hooked up on the TV anyways ;)

Are you sure you get me mans on the app? Last year you could only get 7 of the WEC events on the app/website. I am sure Eurosport have the full rights to LeMans and there not giving them up.

You can. It's just like last year, Le Mans coverage is sell separately.

Kobayashi confirmed in the #1 Toyota as 4th driver on the new test day entry list.
So is this a certain he will race?

Not that I enjoy Nakajima being injured but I really would want to see Koby in Lemans and in the best Toyota.

How's the sound of the WEC stream? When I watched the official nur 24 stream you couldn't hear the cars only the commentary, don't want to pay and find out it has the same issue.

WEC's stream sounds good. I believe that the Nurburgring transmission suffered from serious budget restraints. They were commenting the race from an Aston Martin VIP area.

In Le Mans, they'll have the video feed that goes for the whole world, plus they got a booth on the media stand.

Thing is where they comment from doesn't matter as the sound mostly comes from the trackside camera's. Although i can appreciate hearing the cars screaming by from their commentary boot, but i think the issue was just bad soundmixing.

I see. Well, I watched every WEC race they did since last year's 6hrs of Silverstone and that is something I can't complain about.
