I keep having this bad reoccurring dream, everyday for the past week. I've tried lucid dreaming to get it to stop. In lucid dreaming, the point at which you recognize you're in a dream is when you can take control. I don't understand why I can't recognize I'm in the dream if it's the same dream I've had ten times in a row. It should click like, oh, this again. I hate that dream.

I'm going to say this completely wrong I imagine, but as far as I am aware, the part of the brain that is responsible for logical thinking is 'shut down' during sleep. This explains why people cannot realise that the things in the dream are not what they should be, thus showing why lucid dreaming is rather difficult. If I am wrong, please correct me but this is what I have gathered from reading up on the matter.

I've a question.

How would one know if one was lucid dreaming if one couldn't remember one's dream?

So in order to lucid dream, one must first learn how to remember one's dream, correct?

Tips: Don't move when you wake up. Moving even a tiny bit erases the memory of the dream which is fresh when you first open your eyes. Stay still and recall the dream in your head until it is well memorised and then you can move. Write it down if that helps.

Play video games, especially role playing games as this helps to allow you control of your dream in the same way you would control a video game.

Memory practice is easy. Visual association is the easiest way to remember things for most people.

I'm dreaming a lot about drinking and being drunk lately. It doesn't really bother me but I find I feel guilty when I wake up. Also work wife dreams make me feel a bit guilty and I have those often too.

That's kinda what I was thinking too.

Visual association works well. That's what I've used in the past. An object in the room, or a dot on the back of my hand.
Another tip is when trying to lucid dream, if you fail to lucid dream but experience sleep paralysis when you wake up, you were close. Don't focus on the sleep paralysis, it'll go away in a matter of seconds, focus on that state between fully awake and asleep and try to get back to a dream state instead of waking up. Most people freak when they experience sleep paralysis - you're just conscious between states, which is a good way to enter a lucid dream.

Ok, so I think I might have experienced the beginning of sleep paralysis, and... I kinda got nervous. :/

So my entire body was fully relaxed (I noticed I was able to relax faster than normal. Cool!) and I was breathing slowly. A little while later, my body felt quite stiff and my breathing felt a little tough too. I got nervous and was about to move my body and sit up to stop this, but I remembered that this would probably ruin everything. So a few seconds later, my vision goes from the regular darkness of my eyes being closed, to kinda blurry and fuzzy now. A short time later, I thought I could hear a low, quiet whooshing sound like on a windy day (I know that hearing things is common of sleep paralysis). Sort of like the generic wind noise you hear in movies, tv, and video games, just much quieter and not intense.

Other than this, I didn't experience much else and shortly got up (And typed this up). All told, the real experience (not sitting in my bed for 15 minutes) lasted no more than 2 minutes (I was pretty conscious and aware of the time). Could anyone tell me if I actually did experience sleep paralysis? Or was it really just a precursor to it?

EDIT: By the way, I'm a first timer, if you haven't guessed already.

I killed a man last night in my dream.

I don't know who he was. I was at his house for some reason with my wife and he attacked my wife violently. When I in turn attacked him he pulled a blade and sliced me a few time. We both ran out into the street where a struggle ensued. I got stabbed several times and sliced up pretty badly. We then struggled our way back into the house and I managed to get the knife and stick it in him. I wasn't sure he was dead so I cut his throat too.

Later some of the guys family arrived for his birthday. My wife and I were still in shock and trying to figure out what to do. I told here to leave and I would deal with the family. I didn't let them in and told them what had happened. They called the police.

I felt so helpless knowing I would go to prison, even on manslaughter grounds for protecting myself and my wife, but somehow the police seemed to not see me, like I was invisible, and I managed to get out of the house.

I made my way up a mountain road into a small town (this whole dream featured an English setting but I knew I was in China somehow) where I met a bunch of kids and got into a fight with them. I got away and ended up out on the mountain where some other things happened which I'm forgetting now, but something to do with an assault course and my students having fun.

In conclusion - pretty screwed up. I often have dreams of getting stabbed and sometimes killing people. I think due to my meds controlling aggression it comes out in my subconsciousness.

I have vivid dreams pretty much every night, but last night's just left me disappointed. I dreamt that I owned a black AMG E-Class 'Hammer' and was really enjoying cruising about and giving people lifts... until I woke up and realised I didn't have one. Bollocks. :grumpy:

:lol::lol::lol:
I've had the exact same experience! Only I was driving a Ferrari, not sure which model, on an amazing twisty road. I was so angry when I woke up.

To make things short, I just had a dream where I was involved in a train crash and SUDDENLY I was inside a car. I had an idea of it happening before the crash. It's like deja vu, in a dream. It felt real. :scared:

My dream started with motocross. It has been on my mind a lot lately, so I'm not surprised it showed up in a dream. My dad and I had to put on a little show before the races were on, even though we were only Okay the crowd, so they gave us trials bikes and told us to go hit a double. That was really strange. Buy after we were sitting on the side of the track, and there was a huge natural rock wall blocking what was on the other and it had a decent sized hole in it. I was just sitting there, while my dad appeared to be polishing something. I don't really know. This K's a really strange thing here. My mind has also been on marching band and drum corps lately, and as I crawled to the other side of the rock wall to see another part of the motocross track, I looked to the right and saw a drum corps, all dressed in black, performing a show. But none of them had their instruments. But they marched around as if they did. I found that really odd.

Later on, my cousin and I went to Texas for some reason. We parked in a parking lot and we decided to go to different stores. I chose the mall, and he chose a little strip mall. The mall I went in was odd. People took their shoes off at the door like it was a house. This mall didn't look much like a mall, but I didn't explore much. As I walked, I heard some people making fun of Detroit for the fact that they lost out to Austin in getting the X Games. I stopped to talk to them, as it angered me because living very close to Detroit I wanted the X Games to be there. So I argued with the person, but realized that 2 old family friends were sitting around the table. I used to be best friends with one of them, and the other was his brother. So I talked to them for a while, about how they had moved to Texas and such (even though they haven't in real life). As I went to leave, as I was putting my shoes back on, I saw a gigantic spider, but it didn't look like it could occur in real life, but it's hard to describe through text why I feel this way. Regardless, I killed it because I hate spiders. As I looked through the glass doors to the exit, I saw a tarantula. I am very afraid of spiders, so I didn't want to go out, but I did. When my cousin and I met back up in the parking lot, as we drove away we saw a police man. I can't really remember what happened, but he was extremely kind.

I am so confused by these dreams.

Killed, or rather decapitated my first zombie today. It's head was almost off and it was still biting so I whacked it a few times to remove it's head. I learned that a baseball bat is kind of hard to swing as there isn't much leverage and it's actually quite heavy. Most definitely wrong there as it was just a dream and I've never held a baseball bat in real life before.

I was having a nice dream last night and out of nowhere what looked like the head of the devil flew over my face screaming a high pitch evil sounding wail. I haven't been that scared from a dream in a while. Any idea what it might signify?

It looked somewhat similar to this but more white. Bright white teeth tho not sure of their shape an yellow eyes. It was if he was looking down on me like I was laying in bed and someone was over my face. I legit freaked out. It screamed like something from a movie.

I had a dream that I had 2 more exams to come.

That was scary.

:P Sure it is.... didn't you feel fed up with school tests in reality while you are awaken, if you actually had exams before or after you had that dream?
generally it is said that people are more apt to get to suffer a bad dream when they feel stressful before they fall dormant..

I had a dream that i fell off a high Tower and i literally felt it as i was falling.

terribly scary. I also have had that moment when I leaped outta bed perspiring all over after having an awful dream of myself falling over somewhere going to a squash. :scared:

I just remembered my Dream Last night. So my Dad told me to drive his E46 Touring. It was Iron Man weekend and so many cars everywhere. I go to turn into a Parking lot. And this Juke was coming up and dint stop so when i went to turn it hit my Rear Back Fender which Spun me out.. Thats all i remember. And my Dad screaming at me.

I remember a bad dream I had that felt real. I was walking home and I saw a nuke over head about to hit a building. It hit and I realy felt like I was flying backwards from the blast. I woke up just before I hit the wall behind me.

I had a dream last night that Andy Warhol was trying to track me down with a machete (could have been a cane knife). What can this mean!?

I had a dream where I was god but all I used my omnipotence to do was to get the BBC to broadcast Neon Genesis Evangelion every night in a prime time slot...

Hmm, this is a dream I had a while back, but I think it's still share worthy.

So. I was riding my bike to the store after the rain stopped. It was a nice ride and the sun was going down. I decided to ride by a lake, and for some reason, there was a pretty decent sized slope/hill on the path. I continued on and I stopped to question whether I should go down the slick hill or go around. I just said what the hell and went over it.

I hit the hill at a bad angle and my bike and I slid off into the lake. The scary part is that the dream was so realistic that I held my breath in my sleep. Another thing is that I was waiting to get to the bottom of the lake for some reason so I was holding my breath for at least 30 seconds.. I woke up gasping for air.

I hope I never have a dream like that ever again.

I just had a dream I was at a Metallica concert and then thy stopped after one song and started handing out beer and having eating contests lol.

Recently I've had very short, but vauge dreams of me on GT5 and on GTP for some strange reason. I think my over-exposure to to GTP/GT5 has caused this.

I once had a dream where I was alone in my house and I saw flammable gas tanks outside around the house. They then shot vertical jets of fire and made loud noises. Shortly afterwards they starting exploding one by one. I woke up just as one tank exploded beside the bathroom window.

I was very young then.
