Hmm. Not really sure what to think. Then front literally made me think "Racecar," which considering the original F1's history is a good thing I guess.

AutoCar are suggesting that it's already broken Silverstone's lap record for road cars in testing...

I can't remember where I read it (or find the link), but a week or so ago, I read rumours that the car broke the Silverstone lap record by something silly like 30 seconds. I wondered then if it was true, and it would be incredible if it turns out to be.

Edit: Found the link

There are also unconfirmed reports that it shattered the record for a street car around England's Silverstone Circuit by 24 seconds. Not 0.24 seconds. Not 2.4 seconds. But 24 whole, entire seconds.

Not bad. I kind of like how it looks. It looks like they'll be including much of the aerodynamics advances and knowledge that they've gain since the F1, hence much of the "fussy" details. It's probably going to go like stink.

I guess it's Ferrari's move now :scared:

This is a very beautiful car, the curves all fit together so well and the rear diffuser just oozes performance. The "F70" looks a bit plankish for my tastes. Even if it is just now still a prototype i dont think it will come close in terms of looks.

There's also a rumour or something saying the P1 broke the Silverstone production lap by 24 seconds...

Not a fan of the front end design, but the rest is pretty spectacular. And it'll be incredibly fast, from the sounds of it! Jalopnik claims it will have a quarter mile trap speed of 161 mph! For comparison, the Bugatti Veyron Super sport's trap speed is around 145, IIRC.

Supposed leak:

I think that would look a lot better with all the black painted the same color as the rest of the car.

I suppose this will quiet critics of the boring 12C...

I appreciate why the side bits are black, and I like how it flows well with the glasshouse shape, but it looks awkward. It's okay from that front-3/4, and it all looks properly low. Something about that front-end reminds me a lot of the myriad 90's supercar start-ups, though.

The back-end though, is perfect. I hope they don't change a single thing about it for production, it reminds me of the Furai, but with restraint. Just plain gorgeous.

It's the back people like? That's where I think it went wrong. I don't find it very good looking compared to the F1, but I think the front (minus the two tone coloring) is the better end.

Also I think the look is driven more by aesthetics than aero, but it can be hard to tell with just a glance.

Breaking a track record by 24 seconds sounds a bit exaggerated unless there is a F1 car under the body. Not that that would be a bad thing at all.

I think I agree with you. The front end styling has grown on me immensely over the past few hours, but the rear has not. It's not bad, but not great either.

I find the overall look absolutely stunning, but I usually like the more controversal designs. I'm also a fan of the Huayra.

I just love that it has that organic design, combigned with the look of '90's sportscar Concepts. It reminds me a bit of the W12 Nardo.

I like it, it does remind me of the F1 and it also gives me the impression it will be blistering fast, as in even faster than anyone expects.

^Yes, the expectation is high. We´ll have to see, but im not sure it will be the fastest thing out there on the track...

There's something missing at the front...

There. That's much better.

But seriously, I love it. Very Pagani Zonda-ish. Which is just about right, because the Zonda is the modern supercar that very much captures the spirit of the F1. Low, sleek, very lightweight.

Same thought from another place- my chest. Think alien and my heart.

The front is poor and overdone. The overall shape, side profile and rear are fairly pleasant, but that face is one that even it's mother couldn't love. Shame.

I am liking this new McLaren more and more each time I see it, the teeth helped. :D

Love the overall shape, the Koenigsegg-ish side profile, and the rear end! Talk about a diffuser

Only thing that I don't like is the front end, it has too much of a happy smile like a Mazda.

Added a little bit of orange, with a few minutes on paint (hope I didn't ruin the car :scared:)

And to go a little bit further:

Cannot wait to see the specifications/performance!

I like it.

I would have expected a DRS like rear wing (Or is that not legal for road cars? I assume not by the fact it is missing) knowing McLarens aim of building the fastest overall pakage but still it's very nice.

If only I could afford one. :(
