A teaser from McLaren on what is possible the next F1 (P12) it will be unveiled at the Paris auto show

Thats a proper teaser imho. 👍
I just hope they do better than withthe most recent mclaren.

I notice a bit of HTT Plethore/Attack K1/Ascari A10. Can't really comment until I see the full design, though it's looking much better than the MP4-12C already :dopey:

Looks very Zonda-ish in shape with a bit of Mazda Furai thrown in. So far looks like a major improvement in styling from the fax machine MP412C which is should do for what its likely to cost.

They still have to beat SCC if that Tuatara isn't vapourware.

If its super super light it might be able to with only 800HP. The original F1 was quite a spartan machine and you can be pretty sure it wont be Veyron heavy.

Well, it could have way more efficient aerodynamics and less area of attack for the wind.

Very much like a beefy 458 to my eye based on the teaser video.

I was kinda hoping on an improvement and modernization of the F1 but whatever.

How much can you "modernize" the F1 when its still so fine and new stuff is still struggling to match the timeless beauty of the f1's engineering and appearance.

The original F1 wouldn't cut it today for a lot of modern reasons. Safety features required for automobiles. Air bags, traction control and stability systems, pedestrian standards etc. Too bad because it's still one of the best supercars ever made.

Sadly not. Look how the original F1 was legally sold in the US to meet various regulations:

Back in the day when headlights and bumpers were specification-regulated (stupid) instead of performance regulated, probably to protect domestic car makers in the US.

That's not to say they couldn't do something similar. Sell the car totally legally, and then offer dealer 'upgrade' parts that make it what it's supposed to be. The F1 is the greatest road-going automobile ever made, and I sincerely doubt anything will ever supersede it from a driving-experience point of view. 2300lbs (less than my first gen RX-7!!!) and containing a ball of BMW fury producing 627hp. The numbers are still outrageous even today.

If all you want is a new F1, just buy an old one.

Amongst supercars, F1s are probably the most used and abused. That leads to the possibility that you could get a high mileage one for just 1.5 million bucks imstead of two.

The F1 successor only needs to do one thing. Set sizzling laps. The problem is that there are so many competitors nowadays that do so. To stand out from the crowd, it'll have to add something truly unique. Perhaps blown aero and movable wings.

As ugly as that is, a lot of them simply removed those regulation parts and replaced them with the original parts.

A cop patrolling the neighborhood nor DMV is going to realize that the car is out of compliance.

That's quite a bargain.:)

The F1 successor though doesn't seem to be too worried about top speed this time around though.

I personally think it's going to be a car geared towards the Aventador/F12 market.

The F1 has been overshadowed for a while now. 3 years after the first F1, Lotec had a car that was 28 mph faster (but not verified), the same weight, and 400 hp more powerful, and it was just as drivable on the street.

In the mid 2000's Koeingsegg came around and their cars eventually matched the F1 performance wise, the latest would crush it. Saleen also had the S7 then, which had more downforce and better cornering potential than FIA GT race cars, and of course there's SSC, and no it wasn't a bucket designed just for top speed. The Aero does not put as much into its interior and refinement as the Veyron I suppose, but it's up there with the best when it comes to being behind the wheel.

There's plenty to modernize on a car from the early/mid 90's.

That's the point I was trying to make. :dopey:

Supposed leak:

To me that looks like a real photograph of a real car. Nothing photoshoppy about it, so I'm going to believe this is it. It also looks very similar to the teaser shot.

I think it looks ok, but far too fussy. Looks like a startup job.

Nothing like the legend:

I expect absolutely dominant performance from this car so I suppose how it looks can be an afterthought. The MP4-12C is very aerodynamically efficient while also being simple and elegant and modern. This "leak" is...strange...but it sure as hell does look better than the Pagani.

It's real...
Here is a side and rear pic of it.

It looks alright, I hope that it will have center driving position.

Also from the side view it reminds me of the Veilside RX7 from F& F Tokyo Drift

It does! And as ugly as that kit is, it does have some clever aerodynamic touches.

As for the Mac, holy radical underbody diffuser Batman!

I'm not big on the front end, but as Keef said, the performance should render the looks irrelevant.

The rear looks nice. The cockpit is very far forward, I expect too see some fancy stuff in the rear end.
