No Idea. You might find some info on discogs about it.

Yeah been meaning to check Metal Archives etc.

One of the other discs I got with it is Suffo's Effigy of the Forgotten which has a very young Josh Barohn in the band; He's the guy that married an Aussie gal and moved here to Adelaide & he's now a stalwart of the local scene here.

There's Heathenprides useless trivia for the day haha

Not yet BUT I did recently buy a signed copy of Goatwhore's 'Carving out the Eyes of God' for $6 :D It's #484 of 666 and has two booklets, one signed one not - not sure if that's how they all came?

I think that's one of those deals where the guy that originally bought it was on Goatwhore's mailing list, so he got first dibs on a limited signed edition. I bought that cd the day it came out and I got only one unsigned booklet.

Is this from that collection that guy sold that you were talking about earlier in this thread? If so, the guy was obviously a serious metal fan. That woman he's with must have some good.... uh... let's saying cooking (to not violate any site rules) to make him give up a metal collection like that.

Edit: Just read the post above mine. If that's an oringinal pressing Of Effigy Of The Forgotten, it's worth a fair amount of money nowadays also. Pretty much the only way to find it now is as a double release with Pierced From Within. I bought an original pressing still in the packaging a couple of years ago and it was $23 then. (2008 maybe? My memory is a little (purple) hazy.)

You're prob spot on re the Goatwhore, cheers mate. $6 is a bargain!

Yep the very same lot. 400 CDs all sold to cash converters for a trifling sum no doubt... They sell CDs for far call so they'd be buying his for prob $.70 each.

Yep she's gotta have some seriously good qualities to make him sell up, and not allowing eBay sales to maximise return is just ludicrous :dunce:

I sold a 50 cd collection once, 12 years back, for a woman... glad that it was only 50 but spewing because what I had was the cream of Norwegian early 90's original pressings, the Burzums still make me near weep when I think about it :(

That's history though! I divorced that one and immediately threw myself back in to metal, now my collection is what it should be \m/

Well, Max Cavalera's been on a mini roll as of late. First, the last Cavalera Conspracy album was surprisingly good, now the new Soulfly is actually really good.

I think Soulfly being added the the metal-archives is inevitable at this point, unless the admins are taking copious amounts of crack again (which is actually likely).

Anyone listen to CC's Torture album yet? They did such a great job with the arrangements. The album sounds so good. Paul's drumming is great too. My biggest criticism of CC has been that sometimes the drums sound off beat. Well, he only just started using a metronome and I think that's why. They sound great this time. I think it's pretty cool how "musical" Alex can make death metal. There's so much going on. I think it's one of their best albums in a long time. It's better than Kill and Evisceration Plague. The only thing that kinda blows is that Corpsegrinder's voice is almost gone. No more depth or bass to his voice. You can hear it when he talks too. It's pretty much completely monotone now. And also, some of the solos sound like they're just cut and pasted onto the track. I mean, they are, but they didn't do a good job of minimizing how conspicuous it is.

^^^ Yeah I've listened to a few songs on Torture. They're not bad. Not their best work, but in my mind, they will probably never release anything better than The Bleeding. What I've heard is still very good. Eric Rutan is a beast in the production room. He always manages to get the best out of any band he produces for.

As for the solos, I guess when you've been doing it as long as these guys, it gets harder and harder to make original interesting ones.

On another note, I've listened to a couple songs off Meshuggah's new album Koloss. What I've heard so far is pretty good. These guys are usually pretty consistent when it comes to releasing decent material.

^^ +1,000,000,000 \m/

They smashed it at A festival here 3 weeks back too, they were awesome. So were Dillinger, Zakk Wylde, Watain, Lamb of God (saw 2 songs, missed them for Dillinger as seen them twice before) and In Flames :)

First song wasn't bad. Not a big fan at all, but they have some decent stuff. I wouldn't buy it, but it's still much better than the legions of third rate clones that popped up in the last couple of years.

Got my hands on the new Burzum before release, it's bloody awesome. So different to what you'd expect, I highly recommend it to all you lovers of metal out there \m/

At times it's reminiscent of Isengard then it breaks off and becomes something else that I can't pidgeon hole, elements of Filosofem are there but it's not a comparison because there's nothing to compare to - It's just brilliant.

I suggest you put it on in a dark room whilst you are alone, those smokers out there would benefit from indulging beforehand but it's not essential by any means.

Just get it, you will soon see for yourself!

CC's The Bleeding is nowhere near as musical as Torture. That was a very simple album in comparison.

Anyway, does anyone else like 3 Inches of Blood? I stumbled across them on youtube and I think they're awesome. Their new album is great too. Love the Chief And The Blade track. Sounds like a western-meets-samurai instrumental. Here they are live:

So I finally FINALLY got my copy of Dialectic Soul's album Terpsychora through from Deathgasm...something to listen to endlessly now :D god damn you Easter bank holidays! Mad props to anyone who actually knows of the band or the album :sly:

Well, as a few of you may already know, Kreator released their first single from their upcoming album "Phantom Antichrist" today. I'm going out on a limb & saying this is the best thrash album of 2012. 👍 So excited!

Also; For you Death Angel fans (Me! :P) Awesome news, they're re-releasing their debut album "The Ultra-Violence" this summer. Must have for me.. hasn't been sold since 1993 and those CD's are worth ridiculously high prices. :(

Right from their FB page.

I need to get that Kreator album. I haven't heard anything by them since their '80s work.

Can't wait. I'm pumped now.

Gotta get Venom and Blitzkrieg's discogs too someday.

And I'm supposed to care why, exactly?

I didn't say you were supposed to. Defensive much? I was just stating that I prefer listening to their prime stuff more so than the latter. It's a matter of opinion.

Likewise.

Now, I wonder if Pantera will ever re-release their first 4 albums. That would be far-out. All there is is just a bunch of bootlegs 👎. I want the real deal.

I have a real copy of Power Metal. Cost me a pretty penny, though.

Not really my fault that you came off as one of those idiots who always go around saying "lol [_____] sucks now their old stuff is better lol."

Kind of ironic, seeing as how you were talking about Kreator earlier, which is a band who gets that a lot.

Yeah it did kinda come off that way. I still like the way they sound, I just have a soft spot for their prime years.

My favorite! I bet it would cost a lot, hence why I'll wait this one out  It worked for The Ultra-Violence. :sly:

Is there a way to tell because they have copies of their first 4 albums on Amazon for $17/cd.

Edit: I'm guessing they are fake as they are all the same person selling them.

Right from the wiki;
Having not been reissued since its original release on CD, vinyl and cassette, like their previous albums, official non-bootlegged editions of Power Metal have become collectors items, with any that exist often being circulated through online auction websites such as eBay.

So yea.. It kinda sucks.

On a side note, I found a new band today called "Astral Doors".. The singer reminds me a lot of Dio! & I was very surprised to find out they're a relatively new band (Formed in 2002).
