Just remembered I need to get up very early tomorow, so sorry, guys, I will skip Dubai.
I did a bit of practice and looks it should be really fun, especially CanAm :)

Couldn't race today, but it was for a good reason ... ;)

I'm in Zolon if that's OK.
You're perfectly welcome Old, good to have you aboard.

@half_sourly @IfAndOr @richroo @tal @Don Mejillone

@Hun200kmh @Madbigdog (If you chaps are to join this week)

After comprehensive testing, I've decided to throw dynamic weather into the mix for the first race at Silverstone.

The race will be ten laps long. The virtual date will be 1st August, starting at 9AM, with time advancing at 15X. Weather progression will go Clear, clear, light rain, clear. I know that Silverstone is notorious for standing water, but at these settings, and with the F5's skinny wheels it is not an issue (as long as you put wet tyres on as soon as you see rain drops.)

However, with the Formula Renault, puddles are a serious issue, so the second race will be completely dry.. Overcast, heavy cloud, medium cloud, clear.

Qualifying for both races will be dry, with the track surface slowly warming up as the session progresses.

How was the Nurb
Green and hellish?
Actually it might be more golden brownish and hellish at this time of year.

If everything goes according to plan, I'll be there today!
apologies I won’t be able to participate today.
That's Duarte (possibly) in and Artur out @Zolon32
(He gets confused with all the names. It's an age thing. 😉)

If I sort my pedals out I'll be there as usual. Technical problems.

@IfAndOr Golden brownish indeed

... not so much Hell, in fact it's pretty close to Heaven ... on Earth if you are a petrol head! 😉

@Zolon32 it was an amazing experience. One thing that must be said is that those of us that "know" the Nordschleife through gaming have a huge advantage there, the games really do recreate it well and it was reassuring to know what came next in every corner or section of the track (especially if you were already doing 100 mph and you knew the following corner was still a flat out one, lol).

I still have to return home and process my gopro videos but I have a friend's take on it, he was my passenger in one if the runs and handheld his own gopro during the lap. He already published it on YT so here goes

Jolly good!

Sorry to hear that Hartur. But yes, I think we will have fun.

Good heavens Paul. Get down to the bike shop immediately!

it was an amazing experience.
Glad to hear it Mario. I agree that it does look uncannily familiar. The game producers must be pretty chuffed with themselves.

I am away ATM too, hope I will get home on time.
You can hop in for the second race if you don't quite make the first Napalm. Don't forget, you can join the qualifying at any time, and that won't finish until around 8:30pm GMT for the first session.

Standings after round 2. Now these need some explanation until @Zolon32 updates the opening post. The scoring is based on an idea @IfAndOr had to make adjustments to the standard 16 to 1 system and instead, if you perform below expectations, your score is adjusted down and if you score above expectations, you get less. "Expectations" here are defined as your average finishing positions to before this event, so for this week 2, it is the average for the 2 races of week 1. If any event is your first, you get standard points.

The idea behind the idea is to make the scores a bit closer. We tested it on old series and it did just that. No massive changes in positions, just bringing the field a bit closer to each other and hopefully making for more excitement.

The weightings are:
  • between -2 and +2 finishing position relative to your average to date: no adjustment; multiplier 1
  • 3 or 4 up or down: 1.2 x and 0.8 x adjustment, respectively.
  • -4 or more: 0.6 x
  • +4 or more: 1.4 x

For example my average after week 1 was 3. My finishes tonight were 3rd (0 delta, so multiplier 1) and 5th (2 delta, so multiplier 1). Zolon average was 2.5 so for race 1 his 6th position was -3.5, hence multiplier 0.8, so instead of the usual 11, he got 11 * 0.8 = 8.8. His second race finish of 2 gave delta 0.5, hence multiplier 1.

special mention in one of the Nurburg Instagram pages
How dare they say that the Morgan has little modern day comforts. How many of their cars have self opening glove boxes? Ha!

Did anyone mention an elephant in the room? "Hey Zolon, I've come up with a great scoring system. What's that? Who's leading under my new scoring system? I'm sure I sure I don't know what you mean!" :)

As a passenger in the Morgan, who nervously tried to stop the glove box from flying open for the majority of a Ring lap, by pushing against it, I can attest to the validity of this comment. :sly:

It's all extras we buy in the "Keep Your Wife Distracted" comfort pack. Costly but effective and very much worth buying!

Boys and girls, I bring you the welcome news that there shall be no rain or AI at Brno. In addition, the tyres will easily last the race distance.

Half, Paul and I have somehow managed to put ourselves into the position where we are handicapped. This means that we are restricted to the Zakspeed Capri in the first race, and Porsche in the second race. Everyone else has the choice of the Capri or BMW 320 for the first and Porsche or Sauber in the second. Please avoid use of the LH/LM versions of the C1 cars chaps.

Roll on Monday, these cars are FAB-U-LUS darling.

Sad news indeed ... they messed up with PC3 but PC2 will always be a gem within the PS4 environment.

Since Gran Turismo has zero appeal (to me anyway) I guess probably I'll end up following the PC way as so many others did. Problem is, I like to "plug and play" and have no patience for ... updating drivers and all that nonsense :dopey:
