Derek, the deadline for those was yesterday night... the current ones are the one I posted here. These last ones you posted will probably not be valid.

The Hunt goes from week to week, ending on Fridays at 23:59 GMT.

Oops :) Didn't see the deadline posted. It's all good, I have about 30 pictures for this week so far.

I chose Chevrolet since I live in an area where it's mostly domestic cars:

I don't think they called that version a Silverado, I'm pretty sure it was just the C/K 1500.

I stand corrected, you're right. It wasn't the Silverado until 1999. I'm not too knowledgeable on Chevrolets, so I'm sure I'll make more mistakes :D Not afraid to admit it.

I love how I know where most of those photos were taken Derek.... Downtown Grand Rapids FTW!

Shakedown Street? Awesome store...

I'm going to use my late BMW X5 as one of this week's category for BMW Color then (hopefully that's okay, since i technically took it today):

Black:

Dark Blue:

Sorry I don't know the technical names for all of the german BMW color names.

Judgement for last week:

Most red Mazdas: Gashlycrumb
Most red convertibles: Famine
Least-powerful RWD: Diego
Most pink vehicles: Famine
Bonus: would've been Thirdeye, but was late

So...

Famine - 2
Gashlycrumb - 1
Diego - 1

3) Newest car with a hood ornament.
Not looking for a badge...

Does the vehicle have to be displaying said hood ornament? A certain British car HAS a hood ornament, but it isn't always displayed... :D

EDIT: doesn't matter. Got this photo yesterday:

57-102707.jpg

Brand new Maybach 57. Doesn't show the hood ornament, but Maybachs have them. Can't get any newer than 'presently in production!' :D

Blasphemy! I demand the bonus point! :D Just kidding. Hopefully i'll do better this week :)

I iz wel confused.

#3 - We're basically looking for as many different examples of models produced by a car company ever, right?
#4 - By "not looking for a badge", I assume you're ruling out M-B, Doug's Maybach, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce and the like? And do the ornaments have to be permanent fixtures, or can I dump a load of pencil sharpeners on a BMW Z3's bonnet and snap it?

By "not looking for a badge", I thought he meant he's not looking for a simple hood badge (like Mercedes does now) but a true hood ornament, thus allowing the Maybach.

Update post one!

Exactly... I'm looking for an ornament, not a badge.

So, old-style Mercedes ornaments = good
Old style BMW badges = bad

And yes on your first question, Famine... different generations of the same car are good; minor facelifts are not.

The guy who lives across the road from me has one. I spent the whole week thinking "I must get round to taking a picture of that"... and never did. Damn aparthy.

I was going to wait until tomorrow to post these but my computer's been on the fritz lately and want to submit them in case it totally dies on me:

Thirdeye - could you tidy up your posts a bit? I'm a smidge confused which cars you're entering for which category, since they seem to be overlapping (random BMW and Hyundai amidst a pile of Chevolets)...

My entries:

-Diego-
1) Different coloured BMWs

This week, I are mainly be linking pictures...

White 3-series Compact
Dark Blue 5-series
Black 3-series
Light and Dark Grey 3-series and M3
Silver M5
Red 5-series Estate
Yellow Vito van

That's 8 different colours - and 8 different models/generations. W00t!

-Diego-
2) How many models?

Right... *cracks knuckles* We have Fords:

1. Ka
2. Mk2 Fiesta
3. Mk3 Fiesta (also Mk4 and Mk5, but facelifts don't count)
4. Mk6 Fiesta
5. Puma
6. Fusion
7. Mk5 Escort
8. Mk1 Focus
9. Mk1 Focus Saloon
10. Mk2 Focus
11. Mk2 Orion
12. Mk2 Sierra
13. Mk1 Mondeo
14. Mk3 Mondeo (Mk2 was just a facelift)
15. Mk4 Mondeo
16. Mk2 Scorpio
17. Probe V6
18. Mk1 Galaxy
19. Mk1 Ranger
20. Mk2 Ranger
21. Mustang? Mustang!

That'll be 21 (unless the Mk1 Focus hatch and saloon are counted as one, despite sharing naught but a wheelbase)...

-Diego-
3) Newest car with a hood ornament.

Crap entry, but I had to enter anyway:

f3hscavhunthoodornamentib2.jpg

1993 Mercedes 190E.

-Diego-
4) Oldest Korean car

Yays! After discarding piles of Matizes (not kidding - I had about 12 of them, up to 1998/S-reg), I got down to these:

f3hscavhuntoldkorean1vx2.jpg

V-Reg Coupe; First registered: 21st September 1999

f3hscavhuntoldkorean2ew0.jpg

T-reg Coupe; No data held, but 01/09/1998 - 31/08/1999

f3hscavhuntoldkorean3mt5.jpg

P-reg Nexia; No data held, but "Year of manufacture: 1996"

f3hscavhuntoldkorean4lc4.jpg

F-reg Pony; 4th May 1989

-Diego-
Bonus: Volvo C70

Not a one of them. Plenty of V70s though :(

Categories to follow!

Sorry, the BMWs were meant to be for the every color of BMW.

Here's an even older Cavalier:

oldcavaliergj0.jpg

As for the posts, consider this a placeholder. I'll make a nice neat tidy post in just a minute :)

Famine's Categories (03/11/07-09/11/07)
1. Any purple car.
Well, let's face it. It's sort of my signature colour. I want purple cars - not for me burgundy, pink or dark blue. Only PURPLE will do. In case of confusion, PM me first. 1 mark per car, most marks wins.
2. Wait... that's not in GT?
I figure cars that aren't in the GT series are an easier job of judging than those that are. So I want examples of JAPANESE cars, made BEFORE 2001, that HAVE NEVER appeared in a GT game. 1 mark per model, most marks wins.
3. Vecchio!
Please find me the oldest Italian car you can. Oldest wins the point.
4. Alpha and Omega
I'd like two examples of a model bearing the same name - the oldest you can and the newest you can. The biggest gap between the two gets the point.

Bonus car: Aston Martin Volante - ANY convertible Aston Martin. ANY. 1pt per spot.

1) Different coloured BMWs
So... find all the different colours in which BMWs come. The model itself is unimportant, but the most colours wins. If Doug finds 12 different coloured X5s counts more than if Famine finds 8 different colour and different model Beemers. If Gashly finds a yellow M3, then yellow's "taken" in his collection, so no other yellow car will be valid.

Black
Dark Blue
Light Blue
Red

2) How many models?
Pick a marque (Ford, BMW, Fiat, Nissan, whatever) with at least six different models in its line-up throughout history, and find as many examples of those cars. One mark per model and/or generation. So if Joey finds a 2nd generation Taurus, despite "covering" the Taurus mark, he'll be able to get an additional mark if he gets a 3rd generation Taurus as well... it sounds more complicated than it is, but I'll answer any questions. Obviously, this category rules out some car makers.

Gashly - That first Integra (the vogue silver metallic with the Honda Civic hubcaps) is actually a DB7, a 4-door Integra with the B18B1 engine. A DC2 is a 2-door GS-R or Type-R with the B18C VTEC engine.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, Famine, but the Vito is a Mercedes-benz, not a BMW

:dunce:

I'll sum up the points over the weekend.

Oh, and my wife is going to Caracas tonight, for three weeks... and she's taking the camera... :banghead:

Cool, thanks. I am still amazed by the wide variety of JDM cars within the same model line. It's still a different generation from the other two.

Yep, it is :) There's a very large amount of Integras out there. There was even a special edition for Canada. I know more about them because I own one, that looks very similar to the silver DB7 you posted, except it's a 3-door hatchback, but it's the same year and color :)
