well,at least people started talking about the olympics already.....just take this forum as an example. We talked about hoy ****ty the logo was for 3 pages!
and noone even talked what was has happened at Athens 2004 or talked about what is going to happen even Beijing 2008.Lets just face it, controversy does make cash $$$$. But still, its a long time till london 2012 (its about 5 years from now.Even by then i dont know what is going to happen to me)maybe they still could rethink about the whole logo thing......

Well, it's said there's no such thing as bad publicity. However in this case, if I'd been planning on a trip to London in 2012 to see the Olympics, I'd seriously question the competence of the organizers who chose a logo like that and maybe scratch the whole idea.

Thats what I thought, that logo is basically going to put people off coming to London for the games, theres no inspiration in it and no London representation so they going to think it will be a rubbish olympics so why bother.

I also find it hilarious that mayor Ken Livingstone hates it! The biggest Londoner of them all can't stand the damn thing...

More worryingly if its going to cause epileptic fits they arnt going to be able to show all those flashing adverts planned..... so now aswell as being a rubbish logo its now a rubbish logo that can't move because it could kill people! what a disaster!

 I saw this on the Playstation Community forums too...

Another guy on that forum got his logo on the BBC website as well, albeit a bit more of a polite one...

 Yeah the graphic design firm clearly didn't see that one coming, what better way to show off the city of London's visual delights.

Wow can't believe its been so many years since I made this thread. I still think the logo is junk but I do admit it looks better in its various sponsor specific color schemes and also with the union jack scheme.

I bet the UK never wishes it never won the bid now (recession hindsight), all that money which could have been put to better use than 2 weeks of sport and a pop up tent of a stadium. How cheap the whole thing looks is slightly embarrassing and yet its so overpriced especially the tickets. Its certainly no Beijing.

Robin.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a mad rush to change the logo now that the population has rioted to its heart's content.

Just to put things in perspective. Tokyo, Mexico and Munich are wonderful. London's is erm, interesting - it works better four years on and in different colours, so hopefully it'll age better in forty years' time. If I designed it I would have kept the Thames motif and used Gill Sans for the logotype. A London landmark mixed with some classic British design.

It looks like, dare I say, a person humping a Z and an arrow! Tell me you can see that right! I'm not just going crazy?

Someone on another forum I frequent has remarked that it looks like a woman with too many earrings fellating a guy in a London shirt...

This is all I can see when I look at it now.

Still as true today as it was back then.

There was a .gif floating around that animated the part in the upper right. Does anybody happen to have a copy of it?

The logo looks a little weird at first but it grows in you. I believe they're trying to pull off a mixture of Guggenheim, graffiti and technology, or whatever.

So far, my top Olympic logos are 1928, 1932, 1980, 1988, 1992, 2004 and 2016. For Winter I like 1932, 1980, 1994, 1998 and 2002. :D

A smarter thing to do would have to use the 1948 logo(london).
1948s_emblem_bjpg.gif

and just make it look modern and upto date.

I can see that but i saw something else.

The bottom arrow are the legs with the point part being the knees.
The top Z part is the head and chest of a lady.

And the image on the right is the guy.

But this is just my twisted take on it.

Looks to me more like a pervert trying to pinch some woman's arse. Or is that just how you dance in clubs these days?
