I'm sure they do have people looking for stuff of this nature but it's just impossible to find them all. There are far more individuals looking for ways to cheat all over the world vs a few people at PD. The numbers are stacked against any company doing online gaming. So I'm not trying to defend PD but realistically others will find things before they do just because the numbers are against them.
Issues around track limits came up during every part of the beta (closed and open), I posted a few about it on the Private Beta testers forum), PD have know about this kind of thing for quite a while.

I will fully agree with you on the track limits because that's not something hidden and hard to find.

Yep. Bugs are a part of software, I don;t expect PD or any dev to be able to release 100% bug free software, however track limits and how the car resets are well within PD's control. The car reset is even an easy one to fix, just don;t bother doing it.

Hello everyone there isn't a thread about this right now so for those who don't know about it (yet) I will explain.

Daily race A: Suzuki Swift Sport.

Today's Daily Races:

So as you can see I set 1:06.721 in one try. I wanted to check the top 10 stars to see how to improve my lap time and I found out this:

I got really confused so I checked the top driver's replay.
So while everything was going well on his lap time, suddenly he cut a huge part of the track and finsihes his time. Although he gets reset back in the track his lap time is over because he came across the start/finish line.

I will provide a video soon.

Also, I post this only to update you and not to make you do it.
Be fair, but if you really want to do it, please consider that PD is watching you plus some people have already got banned.

Hmmm. There's always been the corner cut/jump in Horse Thief Mile. I've done it myself offline. It seems to only work on the regular track, not backwards. If you do it correctly, you cut a bunch of positions off, do it incorrectly, and you get set to last place. The only thing you need to time the jump to is braking, because the tires won't be grounded.

I was up very early this morning and set a pretty good qualifying time about 1.5 seconds behind #1 on the NA server. I was able to win my first race and decided to enter again. Now there was someone sitting on the pole with a time of 58 seconds! I am thinking, how it that possible?

I could tell immediately he/she was not fast at all as he/she was very slow going up the hill and I easily passed him/her in the hairpin and that was the last I saw of him/her. I came here to see what was going on and that explains it... I did a couple more races with no problems but the last race I did, a person did the glitch and was placed on the track near the S/F line and it displayed first place! I was able to pass quickly and the person behind me punted them off the track. 👍

TL;DR Yes, it works during the race...not sure if you can convert for a win though...

One problem with this, is the game then won't know when to invalidate the next following lap.

The current system will invalidate the following lap if you finish the current lap with a penalty. This is so someone can't have a super start to their lap by cutting the final corner of the lap. (I can't think of an example on this game, but imagine if Circuit Gilles Villeneuve was in GT Sport and you could cut the final corner and start your next lap).

They definitely need to make it so it invalidates a lap if off the track, but they'd also need to add a feature which invalidates the following lap based on when you've gone off-track too.
How did GT5 and GT6 do it right then? When you had gone off track before finish line, both current and next lap were invalidated.

They could have done it right, it was their choice not to.

Should stick some invisible walls around the track.
No invisible walls are unrealistic I hate them. In private mode i want to go off the track if i want. There are different solutions for this problem. Multiple ones as stated here. Walls is not one of them to me.

Same on GT Sport in Q laps. The current lap gets the time penalty added on and the subsequent lap is not valid.

I'm not talking about a time penalty. If you go off track in a manner that invalidates your lap in the final sector of the track, the next lap is invalid.

...they just need to set up some sort of invisible check points around track (best options is corners with a bit offtrack limits), so if you don't pass them, you don't finish lap... for this kind of issue, at least they have robust corner cutting penalty system (although it also needs to be a bit fixed)

Cheers...

That's why they don't do it because they can't win.
They cheat but when they get reset back to the track they will lose positions. Not only that, but after they continue their way to the start/finish line their timer won't reset, it will keep counting. So technically they stay one lap behind.

It's a shame cause i was really looking forward to race on this track. I didnt even try it because i knew people would cheat :(
Well at least you‘re not the only one been absolutely disappointed. I was very excited to finally race there no matter what Car as I enjoy driving any Car in this Game. I even put a decent Qualify time but just didn’t even try to race. It would have made no sense.

The track will be cut again and the top ten will be all cheaters.:irked:
Possibly.
I'm a little surprised PD didn't react as they did with the other Daily race.

It may be worth reporting after the fact.
I'll look into if anyone has mentioned anything to PD yet.

Funny this should get posted...

I was in a lobby race with two other racers last night on this exact track and they were doing some odd manoeuvres during practice..

Then come the race they jumped ahead of me on the last lap with this glitch cutting across the track...

How does one go about contacting Polyphony Digital then?

Posting on GTPlanet is fine but ultimately it’s still a fan forum and we can’t rely on being “lucky” enough that a staff member may be reading a thread and may pass it on to the appropriate person.
