As far as? That photo above of the new drivetrain is how all Miata's have been set up since the beginning.
As far as being 220lbs lighter.

Maybe I read it wrong, looked like he was saying that was one of the reasons it was lighter.As far as being 220lbs lighter.
I'd say the main reason for tilting the engine is to let it fit under a low hood. Otherwise the car still has to meet the new high-hood crash design standards. Tilting the engine, which they never had to do before, will allow the car to not look ridiculous. We can't see the exhaust in this photo as it's on the other side of the engine so we're still not sure what it looks like.Same here. Though it would be a pretty flimsy backbone if so!
Interesting how they solved the Skyactiv header dilemma... tilt the engine all the way over to the other side to make room for the runners.

That was the idea. Mazda will be sticking with their Skyactiv scheme and obviously the Italian brand will be looking to stick with theirs, along with a more upscale (seemingly) powertrain.fiat mx5=turbo, mazda mx5=n/a?
Mind = blownhttp://www.autoblog.com/2014/05/06/fiat-chrysler-automobiles-five-year-plan/
This is the FIAT/CHRYSLER plan for the next five years...is the roadster that "specialty" vehicle under FIAT?
I've been out of the loop it seems and the car will no longer be alfa but fiat, right?
The vin is Mazda, with chrysler written above it.Mind = blown
That Chrysler on the vin makes sense now. 👍
I hope the prices plummet the same way the 500 abarth prices have.A Fiat-branded roadster makes a hell of a lot more sense in a world that will exist with both the 8C and an 8C Spyder. In fact, its probably the only way that they could sell a bunch and get some money on that transaction. As much as I would probably prefer the MX-5 with the 2.0L SkyActiv, a comparatively priced Fiat model with the 1.4L MultiAir could be equally interesting - if not more exciting even as an average daily driver (torque, bro).
Question is, will Fiat sell it as a Fiat-branded product, or will it go straight to an Abarth-branded model?
Really? I just saw it on Instagram and I thought I'd come in here and post. Mine was going to be way better and more cryptic to get people excited and ask more questions though. You should definitely delete your post and let me do it instead.

Sounds awesome... for Miata owners... that can travel there.
I would love to own an older Miata, but I'm most likely too big for the NA and NB models. I've sat in an NC Club Edition and it's nicely proportioned, but a car like that right now is out of the question, unfortunately. I also want to attend the event, but it's so far away.
Except it totally doesn't. But modern engines make funny noises so maybe it is.From the teaser, it sounds naturally aspirated.
SkyActiv exhaust. It draws cool air in to accelerate and help scavenge exhaust from the cylinders, kinda looks like a turbofan jet engine. A side effect is slight whooshing sounds at low throttle because the actual exhaust isn't loud enough to mask it.Yeah, that teaser is kinda odd. The exhaust note is definitely raspy enough to be naturally aspirated, but there's a lot of whooshing in there too.
I've replaced the bumper and hood since then, but the fenders are still nasty.Like your car, my clearcoat is failing just thinking about it.
