Not sure it's exactly simple.

Like the Greddy car a few posts up? As long as the tuning is good, shouldn't have any issue. Max PSI may be limited.
That would be unclear, surely the compression would have to lowered somehow, but to say it's a simple mod to a Skyactiv style engine is very far from the truth.

Even the most complicated turbo plumbing setup and manifold design isn't something I've ever seen add four more cylinders to an engine.

Slowly but certainly, details are starting to come out regarding the Fiat 124 Spider. The entry level engine is 1.4 turbo with ~150bhp and more torque than either of the Mazda's NA motors. It has taller gearing, bit firmer suspension, bigger trunk and lacks LSD which is reserved for the hotter model.

The top gear review of a test car says 124hp and 180tq iirc

What's with the turbo inlet piping on the Greddy setup? There's certainly room to relocate the washer fluid reservoir, and doing so would mean not drawing air from, you know, behind the radiator.

Doesn't really matter anyways, it's going through a hot turbo then sent through the intercooler to cool down.

I don't think they had exact figures.

I remembered incorrectly. Their review states 138hp putting it right in the middle of both Mazda engines.

The first thing you need to know is the Fiat is heavier than the flyweight MX-5 on which it’s based. Thanks to a longer front overhang and larger derrière to open up an extra 10 litres of boot space, the 124 is larger and consequently 50kg heavier than a 2.0-litre MX-5.

The second thing you need to know is the 124 has more torque to shift its extra bulk around. The only engine choice right now is a 1.4-litre turbo motor from the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. It develops 138bhp, putting it smack in the middle (what a coincidence…) of the 129bhp 1.5-litre MX-5, and the 2.0-litre model’s 158bhp.

Instead of power, Fiat’s looked for Mazda-busting torque. The 178lb ft of turbo thrust dropkicks both of the Japanese car’s naturally aspirated engines into touch, and it’s on tap from an accessible if not outright-low 2250rpm.

I expected more power.
They probably will do one with more power (at a premium, of course). Think they did the same with the 500 Abarth.

The 124 is growing on me even more (thought it looked great to begin with). I prefer it over the Mazda, Mazda still looks good though.

Thing with the 124 is that unlike Miata, it doesn't look like it belongs parked on the side of boulevard, in front of Starbucks.. It looks more like it wouldn't look out of place at race track paddocks, it has more masculine feel to it.. A proper hairy-chested Italian car, if you will. TBH, it has some elements that make me think last gen of Viper.

The same engine is producing up to 190hp in the 695 Biposto so I can imagine the 124 having more potent variants in the near future. But even its current 170hp form, prices will start at a fairly steep £31,000/€40,000 according to Autocar

Yep, like I said 'at a premium'

Be interesting to see (if they go that Biposto route) with the price increase, will we see it shed weight too?

The 124 spider has the 1.4 multiair engine (used in the Alfa Giulietta) the 695 Biposto has Abarths 1.4 tjet engine different engines overall.

Oh right, I didn't know they were different units. I wonder much the MultiAir engine can be tuned before reliability is sacrificed, hopefully at least to the same level to the T-Jet.
