Cool, reminds me of this.

I loved that concept, it had a charm which the final production car didn't seem to have.

2 door to stay a Nissan and 4 door to be an Infiniti.

Sounds like a good idea to boost the Infiniti brand.

The world doesn't revolve around V8 Supercars but, holy snaps if that Infiniti becomes a (V8)Supercars race car.

Since they scrapped the Eau Rouge I highly doubt they would go with a 4-door GT-R.
I'm still mildly disappointed the Skyline and GT-R became separate entities. The current Skyline/Infiniti Q50 would look great with the traditional Skyline four rear lights which just migrated to the R35 when it came along, and having a GT-R version of the regular Skyline range would have a nice halo effect too.

I can see why Nissan separated the GT-R brand from the Skyline range. Outside of Japan (and Australia/New Zealand?) - and Gran Turismo fanboiland, obviously, 'Skyline' only really meant 'GT-R' anyway.

The reason was so the model can be based on it's own architecture and not compromised from the skyline body sold as a sedan and coupe.

The best plan if they make the 4 door is base it off the 2 door rather then going back to the skyline style.

Next GT-R could have autonomous tech

Top Gear
So does that mean the GT-R could receive self-driving tech? It does, according to Candler, and he has his own rather bold vision of how this could manifest itself.

“One of the things I like to think about is turning up to the Nürburgring in your GT-R, and being able to select one of the famous laps and the car just taking over.

“The latest Nismo did 7m08s with Michael Krumm at the wheel; you could just select the Michael Krumm setting, press go and before you know it, you’re launched round the track. Something that most people could never achieve suddenly becomes very accessible.”

It’s a bit different to the lane-keeping assist that constitutes autonomous driving at the moment. As is another of Candler’s visions.

“One day, you could use the car as a computer game simulator. While the car is driving you to work, you could be using it as the controller to drive round the Nürburgring on your PlayStation. It’s adding a bit more fun to people’s lives while also adding convenience and safety.”

Autonomous driving is all well and good for people who don't like driving or using public transport, but if you're the sort to want your high-end performance car to drive you around a race track, then you're as good as dead to me.

I'd like to know since when buying a Nissan GT-R and getting it to NĂĽrburgring became more accessible than a Ring-Taxi.

Because it's you're own car, imagine being taught the limits of your car without having Lewis Hamilton for a day, it is a pretty cool feature but at what cost? surely all this Tech and having a hybrid won't make the car stay within reasonable pricing as previous GTRs. Unless this is 2 generations ahead.

You could take it a step further and drive the NĂĽrburgring in a GT-R in GT, sitting inside a GT-R that is driving itself around the NĂĽrburgring.

The future is weird.
Knowing Polyphony, I wouldn't be surprised if they add the self-driving feature of the new GT-R into the game. All that would be left to do is to include a virtual Playstation within the GT-R in the game, so you could be driving a GT-R around the NĂĽrburgring on a virtual copy of Gran Turismo inside a GT-R driving itself around the NĂĽrburgring in Gran Turismo while sitting inside a GT-R that is driving itself around the NĂĽrburgring.

Somebody break out an Inception meme.

But which layer of GT-R would finish first?

I'm... I'm just... what?

Depends on which iteration(s) of Gran Turismo are involved, and whether the AI for the virtual self-driving GT-R is just the normal Gran Turismo AI.

I think the double-virtual GT-R you're controlling would finish first, if you're skilled enough not too motion sick to complete a good lap.
