The four replays are done and the Round 5 draw is now complete...

Ah well, Man Utd played like crap today.

Hopefully Alan Smith isn't too bad though he seems to have done something serious to his ankle.

I think this will finally be the year that the Man Utd board see the light and get rid of Ferguson.

[EDIT] Alan Smith news.
Dislocated ankle... :grumpy:

...and a broken leg :ouch:

So, is this the end of his career?

apparently smith has a dislocated ankle, and a broken leg! GET IN THERE RIISE!
oh yeah, x-othermic, no you wont!

RAFA'S REDMEN THROUGH TO THE QUARTERS!

im so happy we beat man u! thanks to peter crouch, you al thought he was pathetic.

Very harsh, and not very sporting. I haven't seen the match yet since I was at work.

And Exige, what the heck are you on about, the board see's light and get's rid of Fergusin. He's the reason were second in the prem. We just simply don't have as good a team as we had in the 90's anymore. You can't expect a team to be THAT good all the time, decade after decade and the team we had in the late 90's in particular, was arguably the best team in English football ever.

I just don't feel that Man Utd have moved forward in the ways they could. Man U have had alot of injury this season no doubt, but Ferguson doesn't seem to have built a strong team IMO. The midfield has been dead the last few seasons, but it is starting to improve as Ronaldo matures.

The left back position seems to be under constant doubt (Heinze's injury has been a blow) but there never seems someone ready to step into a position made vacant. Just someone that shuffles over and then someone else dropped in and the such.

Up front however we've never looked more promising, though their support has been lacking at times this season.

I just feel if Ferguson had gone a few years back, and a manager with a fresh view was brought in we would be doing better, maybe not winning the Premiership, but certainly reaching the semis of a major cup.

Remember, we didn't have Ronaldo a couple of seasons ago, and yeah he is getting better. We've also got one of most promising young players in the world, Rooney. Heinze's injury is probably the biggest blow we've had this season, he's the best player for that position, he's quality and noone else come close to him for left back. I personally don't think any manager could get the team we have doing better than we are at the moment. The team just isn't capable in it's current state of beating Chelsea over the course of a season. Let's face it, if chelsea have an injury crisis, they've got another 11 internationals to play and then some. We don't have depth in the team to cover for injuries, when we have a full squad were potential title challengers, but as soon as we start getting injuries the problems ride in, we don't have anyone not in our first team we can use to step in that's remotely good enough. The mid-field has gone down hill since Beckham left, unfortunately Beckham leaving was inevitable, he was becomming bigger than the club and getting more absorbed in his image rights than the football. With Jaap Stam, he was taking drug's and I've heared that from more than one person from inside Old Trafford. He was a quality player but you can't have peopl taking drugs on your team, getting rid of him had nothing to do with the book or the injury he had. He was doped up, Alex found out and got rid of him, the book was just a coincidence that he published it at that time.

I haven't seen todays game yet, I'm waiting for Motd later.

EDIT: Just watched the match highlights, very scrappy. Neither tem played great but Man U didn't look like they were getting forward much. As for Smith, that's just nasty, he'll be out for about a year. Riise's fre kick was crap, it was straight at him, but Smith landed awkward, you could see the leg break in one of the replay shot's.

I'm a Man U fan and I hate Liverpool as much as the next Man U fan (ie Liverpool is the most hated club in English football to us), but neither me or other Man U fans cheered when Cisse had his leg broken. Smith might not play another game and he's not an older player. With current techniques they might be able to get him playing again, but from what's been said, the way his leg's snapped is one of the worst brakes you can have, which is not good.

Yep 1-0, not a great match imo but Newcastle won, that's what matters.

Holy poop on a stick!

Latest score from Stamford Bridge - Chelsea 0 - 1 Colchester United... A Ricardo Carvalho own goal!

obviously i hope smith a good recovery, and i understand its the wrong attittude, but i hate man utd so much, im sorry

Ok, it's just your post gave the impression that you were happy to see him injured. But you have made clear that you aren't, so it's ok.

1-1 I last heard on the radio.

Edit: 2-1 now.

Looks like i's 1-0 to Villa against Man City.

EDIT: Or not, Richards scored for city right at the end of extra time the 94th min.

Net result of this round - only the Premiership left.

How dull.

They hit the post early on too, if that'd gone in it might have been a different story with them going up 2-0. They got really knackered though in the second half, they couldn't keep the pace up.

West Ham's replay win over Bolton tonight concludes round 5 of the FA Cup - round 6 (the quarter finals) is now complete.
