I absolutely agree with that, like I said, when it goes for your team, you don't have to complain about it. But that doesn't mean you can, should or have to prevent other people from saying the better team lost etc. Hell, I have to put with it from time to time, but Liverpool arn't my team ;).

i do like liverpool, i must admit that, but i was kinda hoping west ham would do well because they managed to get into the top tier and finish ahead of established teams, so they deserved to do well. and they did.

but to say west ham were the better team throughout the whole match isn't right. they were better up until 90 minutes (i watched the highlights). from then on it was mostly liverpool. they just had the legs to outlast the hammers, i suppose.

No, they wern't the better team all the game, I did only say upto 90 mins, but at least it was a hell of a game. It was experience that won in the end, the Hammers did great to hold out for so long, but they lacked the experience in the end.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES! WAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

GERRARD WAS AMAZING! and so was cisse!

WELL DONE REDMEN/ ANOTHER TROPHY FOR THE CABINET.

Marvellous!
Got back to Manchester in time to see Liverpool win the FA Cup, and was able to go and see the victory parade in Liverpool today! :D
Got some photos of Riise & Hyypia with the trophy at the front of the bus, Gerrard smiling, some crowd shots, unfortunately Benitez ducked down to talk with his daughter just as I clicked one of him, so you can only see his bald spot! May post some when I get back to CA and upload them.
If only they could win a trophy every time I came back to England, I'd be here more often!

Do you know that Northwich were officially the worst team in the FA Cup (proper) this year?

They were beaten by a team (Sunderland) beaten in the next round, who were beaten by a team (Brentford) beaten in the next round, who were beaten by a team (Charlton) beaten in the next round, who were beaten by a team (Middlesbrough) beaten in the next round, who were beaten by a team (West Ham United) beaten in the next round, who were beaten by the winners (Liverpool). Every team that won on Northwich's path were immediately beaten in the next round.

Just a fun little stat there. :D

Mind you, it probably comes as no surprise, because they ARE a non-league club, and not many non-league clubs even reach the 3rd round.

Wow, that is cool. Poor old Westham, they were so close, and i think they definitley desrved to win. Liverpool only equalised because of a Gerrard wonderstrike, what would they do without him? He has saved them from defeat so many times.

Actually, Sunderland defeated Northwich in the third round proper, after Northwich defeated Woking in the Second round proper and Morecambe in the first round proper. (both of whom were a league above Northwich!)

Surely that makes Morecambe the worst team of the FA Cup proper?
Or does it have to be a losing run?

I only counted the third round onwards. That's when the real teams arrive... :D

But yes, that makes Morecambe the worst team in the FA Cup this year, ignoring the qualifying rounds. It'd be fun to find out who were the absolute worst.

Interestingly, if West Ham had won, that would have made Spurs the worst team - and since they only came into the picture in round 3, they wouldn't have beaten anyone to get there.

it'd be interesting to find out who was the worst team in all of england full stop.

after a quick check of the bbc.co.uk football page, non-league side SCARBROUGH are the worst:

Team: Scarbrough
Pos: 22
Games: 42
Goal difference: -26
Points: 37

unless i'm much mistaken, that is...

Dropout.

Sunderland did much worse than that - though against higher opposition. 15 points in 38 games (0.39pt/game), 29 games lost, -43 goal difference and they only netted 26 times. In the entire season they only won ONCE at home - in their last home game, against a team which only won once away from home.

yes, i was going to mention sunderland, but as you said, i realised they had a much higher-level opposition. scarbrough came last in the bottom-ranking league, so they're the worst of the worst i think. :D

i'm not counting all the club teams though.

unless you have anything else to add, you can have your thread back now. ;)

The Conference isn't part of the league structure - so if you include it, you must also include the REST of the non-league... :D

Fun job...

So officially, the worst professional team were Rushden & Diamonds (which is poor, considering that they turned out two teams each week), but statistically the worst performing professional team were Sunderland.
