I've been trying so hard to like this thing. But I can't muster it. I like all things Japan and beyond 500HP but I don't feel magic :(

Well, same case with the LFA initially, and you all know how that's holding up today :sly:

Yet, A 500+ HP Honda....... Oh dear.... Oh dear....

I just had the craziest idea.

Why don't, give the American market this Acura NSX, and rename the HSV-010 as the Honda NSX for the Japanese market? 💡

Why is there no production version of the HSV-010... :(

As much as people say Honda were too chicken to do it, I honestly think the HSV-010 was nothing more then Honda taking advantage of a loophole in the rules (kinda like how all the manufacterers back in 1998 took advantage of the rules for the GT1 class). They just produced a production car mule that just satisfied the rules and then suddenly, race car.

I don't think the GT500 class has homologation rules that state anything close to an actual production car has to be built; nothing on the cars share anything with production models to begin with.

Edit* The most I've found is that there has to be a legitimate chance of a production car being made from the race car, but not that it has to actually make it to the assembly line.

I think the only reason they made the HSV is because the Super GT folk forbidden MR layout vehicles in GT500.
Err, what?

I'm not sure what the issue is with his statement. None of those cars fell under the years of the ban, and the Murcielago wasn't even a GT500 car.

I want to love it to bits, but I just can't. It's just not naturally beautiful enough in the test/reveal livery. When I see ARTA colours on that though...

*looks at username*
So, I guess this is gonna be converted to FR? Or will the ban be lifted?

Judging by the more smoother mirrors (as opposed to the sorta pointed ones we usually see), this definitely looks closer to production. Would kinda love to see it retain the wheels from the concept.

Look how small the driver is! This car is tiny! This thing looks about as big as an S2000, maybe smaller. Hopefully it's around or less than 3000 pounds.
Holy crap, you're not wrong there. That's excellent - great to see a sports car that seems genuinely compact.

Is there even space for a V6 behind that driver? I mean, in the sense that it won't crush your spine if someone taps your rear bumper?

Not just a V6, but hybrid gubbins too. Seems like some pretty impressive packaging to fit all that in - considering the BMW i8 seems like quite a substantial car in the flesh (it's not huge, but the driver certainly doesn't look that big in one).

Isn't Honda getting back into the F1 powertrain game?

Putting the hybrid stuff in there won't be a problem; including cargo space above it will be. Not only do they have the hybrid assist out back but they've also got electric motors running the front wheels so I can imagine cargo space will be rather sparse outside the interior.

You could be right. Though depending how small the V6 is, there might be scope for a hatchback-style load area like you get in a Porsche Cayman. If it's enough for a few travel bags it's enough for its intended purpose, anyway.

The way it looks, that is a transverse V6... probably still a SOHC, to take up as little vertical space as possible, with rear mounted radiators (given the placement of the air intakes)... no space for a trunk back there... but if Honda could do that, with the radiators and hybrid hardware, then my respect for their expertise in packaging will go up several notches!

Engine sound is abit of a far cry from the prototype that was show off at Mid-Ohio Last year:

All the original reports said it wouldn't be, but I'd honestly love it if they went with a transverse mounted V6 like the old one.
