The Oil My Gears Thread

Please stop talking about books. It's not that it annoys me, it's just that I think there is already a thread for "What book are you reading?"

Anyway, hearing my singing voice played back to myself and being able top replicate what it is most likely going to sound like when my voice matures a little further is a great thing. You see ever since about my 7th year in school I'll improvise a song in my head, just as a fun thing to do. But the singer has a voice that isn't the same as any pony else's. And my voice sounds like it's having signs of turning into this voice, which really oils my gears, because that's the voice my music is written to fit. Gears well and truly oiled.

I'm joking.

I'm joking.

:sly: I'm just so great that everyone needs to know.

PS: I can tell you're joking. the :sly: says so. And that smiley? Just blew my cover.

And I just realized that that you copied me... Proof of my greatness. :sly:

Current gear-oiler is in the name of my new jumper. Warm and tight, but not too tight that my skin can't breath, and natural cotton. Ahh, I love nice fitting clothes.

If you don't already have it, III is a must buy.

Was the first one I got and is still my favorite. 👍
It would be on par with II if only the mastering of II wasn't so 🤬 up.

Sorry Mr Page, you did a great job with the other ones but II's sound just blows. :indiff:

Edit: Of course when talking about the bad mastering I'm talking about the digitally remastered CD I bought. There must be an edition out there that doesn't clip on the drums and guitars, but mine does.

I think my music teacher is a closet Brony. He claims that he watches it with his little girls... But MLP doesn't show on NZ television, I checked yesterday. And I'm pretty sure there aren't any DVD's either. And he even mentioned character names. :sly:

My drawing I've almost finished is oiling my gears. I can't wait for my chance to complete it and then brag. :P I wonder if my music teacher would think of it. :P Him knowing the characters of MLP and all. :sly:

That I just wrote out some set music for a song the band I am in is covering. The song is Dammit by blink-182 and by writing it down I heard a lot more in the song that I'd never before heard. Now I get to go practice it tomorrow!

What oils my gears?

I woke up at 7am. Got dressed, got lunch ready, made bus at 7:05.

Like. A. Boss.

Whoa, nice! That's some speed. 👍

Anyway, oiling my gears right now is the lack of work to do for school and the fact that we have an extracurricular astronomy meeting tonight at 8pm at our school. The sky's blue, so nothing's gonna stop us from watching the stars :sly:

Do you know what oils my gears? I got laid last night:D

That never fails to oil the gears.

Anyway, I finally figured out how to do the notes that I should be doing on google docs right now. I need to restart the little that I have, though. Better than continuing the wrong way though!

Talking about cars, I actually saw a MP4-12C a few days back (in orange). It's the first one I've seen in real life.

And what's oiling my gears is that my attention span has risen a fair bit recently, and I don't know why. Before I found it really hard to concentrate while reading for example but now I feel more focused. :)

What Oils My Gears is that I haven't read a book in 6 years, apart from when they force us to in school.. :grumpy:

Really? You should try. At least a graphic novel, unless that's different.

What is oiling my gears is that I finally got a wheel after several months of unscrupulous anticipation.

I used to hate read to hate reading books but this past year or so I've changed. Now I really enjoy reading - usually non-fiction.

Whether I actually take in any of the content is another matter. :nervous: :banghead:

Who needs reading when you have the Internet?

I don't take anything in, always have no idea what day it is, I forget how old my family members are, never learn anything at school etc.

Some books may not always be supplied digitally, nor reviewed or summarized. Besides, it can be fun if you put down some time :)

I have to admit, it's pretty tough to actually understand when reading from a novel or similar. But most of the time, literature paints a picture.

And that's because you don't read any books....

The Internet has proven to be inaccurate unless you really know some good sources. As for fiction, well there's something about actually reading a book that surpasses reading lines of text on the computer. I can't really explain what it is.

You'll only take in stuff that you find interesting or important - and even with these things there are exceptions.
One thing I would recommend figuring out what type of learner you are (auditory learner, practical learner, reading learner, etc) and use that to improve your observation of things. For example I sometimes write down notes of stuff (even when reading a book) and I found that to be quite helpful to be more observant (I think it was down to that anyway).

Don't be so pessimistic. 👍

I suppose that is the case, I don't find anything at school interesting or important. Things I do consider important are times like when they added the blue ones to the tubes of Smarties. Taking notes is probably a good idea, but I don't like holding a pen or a pencil, it hurts and I keep managing to throw it at people.

I'm not a Practical Learner, imagine someone like me trying to do something practical. I like reading sessions in class though, as long as I'm not doing it. When I have to do it, I can't take a thing in.

I think your biggest problem is that you make to many excuses. Why not just say you don't like writing notes because you can't be bothered?
