I was just mentioning what the "golden" cars are... in this case though they are two cars I dont really like to drive... the Evo is a good choice too though, Im not to sure how it perfoms in 700PP spec but I'll test that one tonight as well. I take it you mean the tuned version of the Evo IX right?

Yep that was the one I was refering to:tup:

I will also need a game save for Gran Turismo as i am not playing all that again lol.

Send me a pm via GTP with your e-mail and I'll send you one zipped, then just unzip save as PS3 save data and copy to PS3 hard disk with a USB pen:tup:

I wont be able to make the SCC practice, too late in the evening Got to work on Friday still... I think I'm going to spend some time tuning on GT5P (try to find the car I want and help out arvore) and if you have another practice tomorrow or something I will join the party
.

I think Mário is going to run a full event pratice on saturday so maybe you will be able to join us...:)

nice one arvore will do it when i get home mate.

Usually someone opens a lobby and a XMB chat window at night. If I don't see any open when I log in, I will do it. But I won't be playing before 10 PM our (PT and UK) time.

Btw, The Hog, don't forget to add me on PSN, in order to make the inviting system easier

Ánother fun night racing with you guys in SSV8NC:tup:

I really think this is the game where things will be more even because there are no really "experts" in this game taking part of the pentathlon and because from all of them it's probably the easiest to pick and play...
Proving my theory everybody was improving his lap time in 1 second from race to race and at the end of the night Ben(Shaggy)-DORITOS-was giving a hard time to even two of the fastest guys in the game-Dereck and Lassi.:)
No lobby or connection issues on this one just the poor converssation feature makes the Mics absolutely useless.

P.S: After being tortured by the portuguese Inquisition Dereck confessed that he didn't sold his SCC copy after all,so he was absolved and the torture gizmos thrown away:dopey:
His punishement is praying 3 HOLLY MARYS and be there on the 25 for the ferrari series event:)

BTW you guys watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QphcM1ap9U&NR=1

dramatic images that makes me wonder how lucky we are for doing all the crashing in a virtual world where mistakes have no real consequences...

Thanks Miguel, I was quite happy with my pace by the end of last night though clearly my Portuguese still needs a little work :dunce:

You're right and I think also the tyre wear is a good leveller of pace in V8. I was able to keep within 3 secs of Vompatti last night in the final race till I took a short excursion through the gravel on the final lap so I finished 6 secs back in the end. I suspect had we all been running on fresh rubber that Vompatti could have pulled away from me more easily and that Derek would have come through the field as well.

But yeah, it is a very 'pick up and play' game compared to SCC. It's going to be a lot easier coming from SCC to V8 than it will be coming from Shift to SCC, that much is certain.

I didn't actually think it much while we were driving but now that I do, the mics are the biggest letdown on the online features. Otherwise it's great, there were no lags, no connection issues, you can drive a bumper to bumper, side to side without a fear of lagpikes that would cause some sort of crash. Netcode is indeed very good one, too bad that there are some other issues in the game (button mapping, deadzone, sounds..).

This isn't exactly Pentathlon related, but I just have to give some comments on yesterdays racing :)

As Miguel already mentioned, Ben was improving fast 👍 With that speed of improvement, couple of more races and we couldn't challenge him at all!

And then there was that first race we drove. It was the closest finish in my racing history I think. I was chasing Miguel from lap 4 or 5/10. He had the AMG and I had the Jaaaaag. Well, it seemed that my Jaaag was better on corners but every time straight opened up Miguel had the edge with AMG's power. He was driving really, really well under pressure. I mean it was 5-6 laps and I was all the time around 1 sec or less behind him. He made no mistakes so I had really hard time to come up with overtake attempts. But on the last corner of the last lap, he made a tiny error and went a bit wide and I got great outcoming of that corner so I was able to get myself close enough for some drafting to the main straight. I did catch him thanks to drafting, swinged to his side and we crossed the finish line with a true photo ending. Our difference was 0.000 secs with Miguel still taking the second place leaving me 3rd  What a race and what a finish!

The computer award me the 2nd place because I was playing in my home country:) .That was indeed a exciting race Lassi you're a great driver and it was very dificult to keep the pace with you last night:tup: That Jaaag does wonders in your hands even when the tyres are warn:scared:

About the online code I wouldn't say it is flawless I had one or two races(not last night) with a little lag,but I think it is a superior feature in this game(Despite of Milestone is a small Publisher they managed to partner with Spyware-I think they've powered Toca III as well) when compared to other racing games, and these pentathlon pratices made us realize every weekness, and strenght as well,of the racing games we own and that it is possible to have fun in all of them.I like variety:sly:

Yeah, well judging from Hendrick's performance last night! The redoubtable mhm hopped over from playing Shift & joined our SCC 550GT lobby last night/this morning. He immediately punted me deep into the sand on the first corner at Muggello & then struggled to stay within 20 seconds of the leader for the ensuing 5 laps.

... by the 4th race Hendrick was back to beating the pants off everyone by a wide margin... :indiff:

I'll post the tunes in here in this thread since I think most people discuss stuff here anyway... And you're more than welcome to join me tonight... I'll be racing along with Roomboter and some GTHQ members on their time schedule... Less punters :P I'll shoot you a message when I finish tuning and start racing, which will be around 21.00 GMT I think....

I don't want to talk about last night's races ... I wasn't really awake anyway ... :P

Since yesterday we didn't try SCC we will be doing it tonight, just a few short races to pick up the car to be used in the Event.

But we will also be trying this one:

Anyone interested, pentathlonist or not, you're welcome to join the fun :)

I was lucky it was only a Portuguese Inquisition. If it was the Spanish version I am sure the fact that I was innocent wouldn't have saved me from being tortured anyway!

This honestly doesn't surprise me. Coming from a game without much weight transfer and then going to one which demands controlling the cars weight at all times is like going from roller blades to ice skates. People will have to be very cautious in the SCC round, the rest of the rounds shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I think Im going to choose the Evo IX like arvore... Still fine tuning some understeer out of it, but I like it :) and Im rusty, I need a forgiving car... :P While I'm at it though is there any other car people are interested in? I thought if Im making a tune already, I can make a couple more while im at it.. 👍

The other thing I noticed about playing Shift again after a few months, is how there seems to be a rather tenuous relationship between your inputs & how the car actually performs: wheels on the grass - no problem! 👍 car sideways into the turn - no problem! 👍 way too much speed to safely take the corner - no problem! 👍 Just crank that wheel & the car will come around! It basically means unlearning all the things you've learned from driving a more realistic sim like SCC.

I have to agree. Going from Shift to Supercar Challenge dramatically highlighted Shifts' problems as the two games focus on opposite points of emphasis.

Shift allows you to go into corners with way too much speed and you can make up for the resulting slight understeer with massive oversteer that actually doesn't slow you down at all, but lets you rotate the car. In SCC if you go into a corner too fast you just continue to go generally straight until you've scrubbed off enough speed for the front wheels to grip. If you were to try to oversteer the car through the corners in SCC you'd end up doing donuts, and more importantly you'd be dreadfully slow.

After a week of SCC going back to Shift and being competitive with the best players was impossible, as I was now conditioned not to do all the things that made you fast in Shift.

I'm not badmouthing Shift. If it's your primary driving game the physics problems are easily forgotten in the gameplay, but if you go back and forth between the two games Shift suddenly feels really strange.

I had a practice on GT5 this morning and after being away from it for 2+ year I am crap doing 2.18 laps OMG am I in trouble lol
Also is there a way to tone down the steering sensitivity on a pad? as I only move it the 2mm and thats 1.5mm to much.

Make sure you tune the car to 700 pp! If you just do a standard TT with the stock settings that's probably about what you'll get.

The same happened to me but after a couple of races, and a little help from Mário with the tune I was able to drop my lap time 4 seconds:)

Just as I told you before I will bring the picnic basket for us:dunce:

700 pp it was :(

arvore I like ham, cheese & pickle sandwiches. And don't forget the pickled onions I'll bring the drinks.

Dear Pentathlonists: I did a LOT of writing .... now you guys do a LOT of reading, please :sly:

check this

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=127176

... and check it carefully. I'm a nice guy, but when I have set up an event as complicated as this ... I will take care of it as if it was a train. It stops at a different station 5 times during its course. but it won't wait for people that didn't read/didn't notice/didn't remember/didn't press start/didn't join the lobby/didn't change the game ... or just didn't ... care.

I wil, however, allow 2 min breaks between games for smokers and WC visits from the beer consumers

If it's your primary driving game the physics problems are easily forgotten in the gameplay,

In SCC, F1CE or GT5P, regardless of how truly "realistic" the physics are, you quite quickly come to an understanding that all your inputs DO make a difference. Although I tried, I never reached the point where the physics in Shift seemed coherent enough to make the gameplay make sense. :indiff:

As for you, I just have one thing to say.

You are a cruel man jjaisli ...

Ham bap? That's not much of an insult Jeff, you can do better ;)

Btw Mario are you there buddy? I thought everyone would be online by now to practice SCC and F1:CE but I only see Miguel logged on. Get yourself online lest I have to call you a 'ham bap' also.
