Many thanks to all for the great clean racing last nite. I had done quite a bit of parity racing in the past on GT5 with my father so I am really glad to see interest on a bigger scale here. It was really cool to be able to observe in real time where the other cars (and pilots!) were weak and strong on the Circuit. I think I could have added another 1-2hp to my Toyota '86 GT and still been within target readings, but I decided to stay on the side of conservative the first time out. Thanks again to all for the great session and look forward to some good future matches.

What a spectacular grid! There was only one instance of repeating cars. In the first race there were two s2ks and no one was using the car I planned on using! Also the finishes were all pretty close too! This looks like it turn into a great series!

Ok chaps :sly:
I was able to do 1 lap which was not totally embarrasing and full of swearing :dunce:, I really need a lot of practise here.
lap time was 8.14.9xx,
I`m not able to string my best sectors together + this car is brutal to drive , you will see some close calls if you watch it

settings as posted from hobbsy , BB at 3/2
now I need some rest for my arms
can´t wait to see you guys driving , especialy @BrandonW77 ´s triples:scared:
T500 is gone btw, got a T300 base with loadcell modded T500 pedals, the T300 pedals never left the box they came in :D

sorry bout the poor quality , 1080p upload had needed at least 4h

Holy crap man! That looked terrifying! Very impressive work @KingKlingeling but of course you still cheated because you didn't use cockpit view . I'm kidding. I could never do that even with the DS3. I can barely drive the car as it is and especially not without aids. That was awesome to watch and you made some spectacular saves like the one at bergwerk and the final turn! Mind blowing!
Respect to you :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Don't hold your breath, I just tried it with the h-shifter and it's such a miserable experience that I'll likely be aborting the challenge. My rig really isn't set up for that shifter and at times it feels like I'm going to rip the shift knob off. Plus, the shifter makes one helluva racket.

Very nice lap , I hope to record mine at the weekend, so lookout for a vid soon. What do you make of the T300 base, any better / worse / no different???

@BrandonW77 you cant just give up...! I found the same thing when I first tried the shifter, and thought what a waste of money it was, but persistence is key. I know I'm now within say half a second or so on the Nurburg/D circuit compared to the sequential, it just the missed gears that really catch you out!
Stick with it buddy.

Nah, my h-shifter is kind of a piece of junk and feels like it's going to break anytime I do a quick shift. Plus, the only place I have to mount it is up where the sequential mounts and it's very awkward having it up there. Also, my rig isn't sturdy enough to handle all that movement, more than once I thought one of my monitors was going to fall over. I'll try to get a video with the sequential but I'm done with the h-shifter.

that's a really smooth lap B.
you're having definetly more feeling in your right foot
your style looks like driving compared to my fighting :mischievous:

I don't care for the shifter as long as I see those lovely triples

@hobbsy
t300 is fine , only problem so far is , in GT6 setup it's still recocnized as a t500 what's a bit odd in therms of FF.
to get the same feedback like the t500 i had to crank up the FF to 8 while on the t500 base , I was on 3.
on PC though, it's working great , because it's shown as a t300 .

I just wanted the full ps4 support , without any sacrifices , that's why I made the change.

Very nice, similar to the way I drive it too. Nice and easy, not too much drifting. I would try it with H-pattern (and video it maybe :embarrassed:) as well, but my clutch pot went a long time back. But, I would do it with the sequential. Fun times.

Look forward to the racing on Sunday.

 Awesome lap there @BrandonW77, very smooth and calm driving too. I guess we can overlook the chosen shifter method, you did at least use the right view ;):P

You will not be tempted by one of these then?

That was an unusually smooth lap, and for some reason the video makes it look far more controlled than it actually was. Even the turns that look smooth were on the very knife edge, most of my laps look more like yours. And my right foot is in constant motion. Took me about 2 hours to get a complete and relatively error free lap on video though, so even though I hit the sand that was the best it was going to get for that session.

@hobbsy, I'd recommend having this challenge be done offline, for a couple reasons. First, it's so much easier to restart a lap when you've messed up. Second, if videos are posted you can easily judge if the lap was valid or not by seeing if the time is shown in red or white. I don't feel any major differences between the two, offline might be slightly easier to control a drift but not by a lot.

I definitely want that shifter, but mostly for the sequential. At least in GT, the h-pattern shifting is just clumsy and imprecise and doesn't feel natural, I don't find it very enjoyable. Maybe if my rig was setup differently to make it more comfortable and natural feeling, but for now that's not going to happen.

@BrandonW77, thanks for the opinion and I think you are right. I was thinking about it the other night too, as with offline you can at least save and export the replay.

Yes, since it's going to be hard to police things you can request that people send you the replay. You don't necessarily have to review the replays, if people are willing to send them to you then chances are everything was legal. But you could load them up and watch them, you'll be able to tell within the first couple corners if they're using the proper shifter and then skip to the end to make sure their time didn't go red/illegal. You won't have any way of knowing what view they used though.

Any ideas on what the next track will be for next week??

I was going to figure that out last night but the stupid Yellowbird ate up all my time. :dunce:

I'll jump on after work tonight and see what I can figure out. Since we'll be doing a longer race I'll look for a longer track. Maybe Silverstone GP? Apricot Hill?

Brandon I dislike Fuji for different reasons and most people like the track but for me, the last section ruins the whole track for me. I cannot figure out how the hell to get through those turns! :grumpy:

I like the last section, the final two turns are a great exercise in late apex. But turn 2 ruins the whole track for me. That's why I dismissed Hobbsy for merely suggesting it. :sly:

All the more reason to beat it...! :sly:

tbh i hate it too, i'm just being :mischievous:

EDIT: are we limiting ourselves to real world circuits? If not then Cape Ring ranks quite highly...! (Joke)

Oh, I'd like to beat it..........beat it with a stick!! I did mention Apricot Hill. Grand Valley would be a good one for a longer race too. So, not limited to real world circuits, but I really dislike a lot of the "original" circuits and think most of them make for kinda crappy racing. I'm willing to visit a few though.

I can't believe you hate turn 2 Brandon. I know you've said this in the past but I just don't see whats wrong with it. To me it seems like a straightforward medium speed corner. I'm not going to argue over this not do I have any intentions to start an argument but I just think there are much more difficult turns in the game. And in my opinion the last section consists of nothing but more difficult turns. I also don't like that chicane at the beginning of thes section. I was a fan of the '80s and '90s Fuji and was disappointed when they removed them from gt5. I also remember the stupid pit entry on those versions . I remember that before the actual entrance into the pits was a sharp right hander and at the end was a wall that you would slam into if you would go to fast into the pits . I am guilty of doing this several times

I was just trying to think of the tracks available in game, so went here (scroll down) to remind myself, and to be honest there is not many that I don't enjoy! FYI I don't consider Route X or SS7 worthy of the title "Racing Circuit"!!!

I don't know, just seems like no matter what car I've driven there it always wants to go into the big paved area off to the right. The only way I can get through it is by going slow like a grandma which results in people flying by me or going right up my chuff. You can't see the entry, apex or exit until it's too late and there aren't any good braking markers. The rest of the track I enjoy a lot, but I never get to enjoy it because I die to death in the second turn.

I enjoy driving on most of them, but competitive racing is a different story. Some of them have few-to-no safe passing zones which leads to impatience and broken cars. Or they have some ridiculous feature that encourages crashes. Example, I'd really like Cape Ring if it didn't have the loop and the jump. Some of the sections are great, but in my experience flying two-wide usually doesn't end well. The loop isn't as bad, it's just silly.

I do have to agree I do enjoy most of the tracks but a lot of the circuits I enjoy racing on have sections I don't enjoy as much. The nurburgring being a good example. I love this track but some sections I don't enjoy very much and that I consistently mess up bergwerk being one of the areas. However I find that turn to be challenging and I like to push myself through that turn and through the whole circuit. An awesome lap on the ring is one of the most satisfying things in GT
