Leaving aside her brazen hypocrisy for the moment:

Yea, taxpayers straight up paid for her student debt. Granted she did something for it, but it's coming from the same place.

Also, I'd like to see the tax returns to verify that she's actually paying for someone's debt. A lot of people talk like they pay taxes without really paying them.

Not that I haven't done it myself at times but the way people personalise their own individual taxes is quite grating.

I don't mind it as long as it's accurate. Some of the people I know who complain the loudest about paying taxes don't really pay them, and several of them collect social security. About half of the country doesn't pay taxes (federally, assuming social security is uh... something else).

FTFY.
It would not shock me if a lot of these people are claiming they are paying for other people's debt but in truth haven't bothered doing taxes in ages.

Does the monkey actually create the bananas out of thin air?
At this point in modern day western society that really doesn't matter anymore. We are seeing record profits everywhere, a select few are getting richer by the minute and a enormous part of society are losing money by just living their lives.

But hey, just lower the thermostat or shower a bit shorter while I use my private jet to do my groceries.

It does actually matter where money comes from, because you're placing people at odds where they are not inherently at odds. The wealth that one person accumulates does not have to come at the expense of someone else, it is not a zero-sum game.

When a growing portion of society is having issues with paying for daily life necessities, perhaps the rich need to take their responsibilities and do more, if that is what is supposed to make the economy work.

You can't make money if your workers die of starvation.

Who is dying of starvation?

The costs of some goods are going up, in part due to the pandemic. The pandemic was very expensive across the board. People lost their jobs, businesses restructured and lost revenue, lots of money lost, some of it literally evaporating into the thin air it came from - not transferred to someone else.

Fuel prices hit an insane low price a few years back. So low that I think at one point oil went negative. Yes, it's going to cost more now than it did then, because things have changed. And it definitely should cost more now, probably more than it does.

Emissions reduction can cost money. Pandemics cost money. Restricting or otherwise reducing trade costs money. It's wholly unsurprising that some people will struggle. Blaming Jeff Bezos, or whoever, for everyone's well being is not helpful or logical.

Can Jeff Bezos do more to help people? Sure. Is it his responsibility to do so? Not that I see. Bill Gates has been doing a lot to help in all of these areas.

If we're talking responsibilities, a quick Google search puts the cost of the Pandemic at about 15 trillion USD, with a range estimate between 10 and 20 trillion. The total worth of billionaires is about 10 trillion. We'd be better off if regular people just social distanced than if every billionaire donated every single cent they had.

Lol, you can make fun of any person/demographic. The key is the joke's layout, not what likely Ben and the rest of the right think constitutes as a solid punch line: "Attack Helicopter. Lul lul lul".

"Pronouns hurr durr... Ukraine flag". Strange Ben doesn't seem to think his diminutive stature (in multiple departments as his wife's not happy) counts as a legitimate target for comedy for some reason.

I mean, it could be considered a big amount if the person got it for nothing.

It's more likely that two conspirators "sold" it between themselves for $300,000 then some mark buys it for $350,000 only to find out it's worthless and nobody's actually going to pay that price for it.
