It's written to be misleading, so I'm not.

You're sharing content mocking alternate fuel vehicles and a state that's trying to combat climate change, from a news source that denies/minimises climate change, don't blame me if that's how it comes across!
It really isn't, you are just interpreting it that way.

And this was just one of a dozen or so that I've found commenting on this. It's not news, nor is it mocking anyone. It is commenting on a state's newly passed law that would be nearly impossible for them to implement.

They better get to work, since they are having trouble meeting today's electricity demand.

Who had better get to work?

...because it's not so funny if it's over a decade away. I think the point here is that it's only funny as long as you refuse to think about it. And I do kinda get the humor, provided I don't think about it at all.

This is California:

In part of California, you clean the smog off your patio furniture periodically. If you actually spare a moment to think about it, it doesn't matter if the electric grid can't handle the charging, they need to take action. Know what else California has a lot of, and which helps charge cars? Sunlight.

I left LA and California for a reason. I'm not going to defend California's electrical grid OR their future ban on gasoline powered new car purchases. I'm all for someone making fun of both of those things. But when a joke requires you to stifle your mind in order to find it funny, it misses on some level.

Who had better get to work?

How about the organization that handles 80% of California's power, the very same ones that just issued a warning about meeting current demand?

How well do solar panels work through smog?

Pretty well. Really bad smog can cut output by 10%. I'm not sure LA has "really bad" smog. I've seen some terrible stuff in Beijing.

You can keep repeating that, it's not going to change the fact I'm interpreting it exact as it was intended.

Honestly, for you to claim otherwise given the source is laughably absurd.

I live in a condo. I have an assigned parking spot in a two story parking structure. Luckily I am in Texas. But if I were in California, would the state force my HOA to install charging stations for all of the cars that park there? I don't know how many, but I am in space 185 and there are lots more than that. What about people in urban areas that park on the street?

Humans should do what humans do best, and that is to adapt. You people up north just need to buy air-conditioners and move on.

Is that not the entire point of moving to EV's?
Being forced to buy an EV is not adapting, it is a pointless attempt to stop the inevitable. People in California, or even the entire US being forced into EVs is not going to stop climate change.

What is your definition of adapting?

Also, do you not see any benefit to removing a quarter of GHG emissions?
People in California, or even the entire US being forced into EVs is not going to stop climate change.
That's because it's one step of many being taken to combat climate change. Do you just ignore a problem that can't be solved in a single step?

It's a problem with a solution, London's already got one.

Climate change is literally killing people and that's the best you have as a rebutal?

Sit the **** down.

It's a step that's a damn sight more effective that doing nothing, and this is coming from a 25 year member of the motor industry.

I see in the Climate Change denial 12 step program we've gone from mitigation to full blown acceptance and defeatism. I guess if we can't do anything to prevent it, we should just keep chugging along off the cliff. You're in Houston right? You're not going to like the results of climate change if you are to be affected by the main changes expected to that region.

I'm not sure what this is in reference to. If it's in reference to the 2035 ban on new ICE vehicles, that's a ban on new vehicle sales, not a ban on owning or operating an ICE.

It's also something that the California Civil Code would surely cover. The closest I can find is constraints on HOAs prohibiting or unreasonably restricting charging stations, or "Right to Charge" (§ 4745).

Red, white, & blue; why are conservatives suddenly so unpatriotic?

Never saw that picture, but the speech itself was so divisive..,.

And he claims to be the uniter.

Piss poor job. I am not an enemy of our democracy.

We do not live in a democracy, we live in a republic.

Seriously? You didn't see this just four posts above in which Trump called all Democrats "fascists"? Hypocrite much?

Wait, we have a democracy that you are not an enemy of (although if you support the January 6th insurrection, then you absolutely are an enemy of our democracy), and we don't have a democracy? Make up your mind. And while we're at it, just stop already with your "We do not live in a democracy, we live in a republic" bull****. It's nothing more than GOP obfuscation so they can feel justified in ruling as the minority party, something the founding fathers would be aghast at. I know you're not going to read the article below because it calmly and intelligently explains why that statement isn't just wrong, it's dangerous. But hope springs eternal.
