I think even that sounds alright. The real life Le Mans clip is 1. Distorted and 2. The hybrid r18 (whether that affects the sound or not idk but still). Perhaps the pcars sample has less of the bossy raspy sound, I do hope they add turbo whistle (another car that needs turbo sounds is the huayra)

The only difference between the e-tron and the TDI is the flywheel whissle. The engine was the same V6 3.7 turbodiesel. It sounds ok, it isn't like other car game that puts the same sample on all prototypes, but still, it isn't accurate.

I think for a definite confirmation of the samples accuracy I would have to hear a better recording inside the car.

It has to sound like a pickup truck going mad fast. Anything short than that is inaccurate:

To me that sounds like the pcars sample, just that the pcars sample is toned down quite a bit. You know in the build notes you notice from time to time that they adjust the sounds, this is a possibility for the r18.

Have to agree. The PCars sample is much closer to that raspy and raw sound. Sounds like Forza has some kind of reverb thing happening as well.

Only a couple of videos to go by but it seems some of the issues with the AI are improved, especially the first corner carnage. Everyone seems to get sorted out and up to pace fairly quickly 👍👍

I'm not worried, I know these guys are great devs. If it's not on the disc it will be in a day one patch.

What's the general consensus after all the PS4 gameplay video released yesterday? Personally, I was surprised to find the game pushing so many cars on track, but it's clearly coming at the expense of graphical fidelity because - at least in the videos I've seen - it can't hold a candle to high-end PC visuals. That doesn't shock me at all but I was silently hoping SMS would find a way to get that extra pop out of the hardware. At the moment though, looks like it may not even be on par with Forza 5 graphically. Won't know for sure until March 17.

I do agree with you, Im not a huge fan of FM5, but as graphically goes, its about the same on the console versions (taking away the sunsets/rain in PCARS), however, I personally find the Gameplay in PCARS a lot better imo.

I can't tell for sure on Youtube because the video quality isn't equal to the actual game quality, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was true. The game is first and foremost about racing and I would not be surprised if they sacrificed some polygons to maintain all the physics, gameplay elements, weather + 1080/60 + have the huge grids that everyone expects. It's a tradeoff I'd take any day of the week but I'm sure some people won't be happy with it if it turns out to be true. I've been saying this for months, if you built a PC to match PS4 specs it would be considered a low end gaming PC, that moves up to mid-range performance through optimization. There's a reason DriveClub looks great but it's only 30fps and that's why. There's a reason why Forza looks sharp but there's no weather, no day/night and no 45 car grids. Tradeoffs have to be made.

Physics-wise I'm sure it will be. I mean, when you consider everything that game has going under the hood - dynamic weather & time, realistic flags, damage, pit stops, the AI which is purported to be somewhat advanced, the number of cars as I mentioned, and last but certainly not least, the physics, all at 60 FPS/1080p, it would be magic if SMS could work all of that into a visually stunning game on consoles. As @Johnnypenso says (and I'm seeing his post as I write this), it's all a tradeoff. That's why I'm happy games like pCARS exist, and I'm also happy games like Driveclub exist. It would be shame if ALL racing games were 30 FPS or 60 FPS, given the limitations of current hardware. We need both.

Well, even if the graphics dissapoint on Ps4 I'm still going to buy it. It reminds me of the Race Driver series on Ps2. Yes GT4 was awesome, but the sense of real racing in Race Driver (especially 3) was just something else. I gues that will be the same for Project Cars
