Yea it great to get as fast a lap time as possible but the enjoyment and experience will always be night and day using wheel from controller.

Jeez guys, its not like im asking for much. And it is a simple yet merited question. Im also not asking about experience, im asking about the speed of lap times.

I'm a bit lazy with making videos at the moment (though I have a couple I want to upload), but I'll play with the wheel and controller some and report back with my lap times. I'm not the absolute best with a pad, but I'm also not the fastest driver out there with a wheel either.

I did ask about that a few times; rain racing seems very, very easy...

It depends on the car and also how smooth and gentle you are with your inputs. Racing in the rain is also a lot slower, which could add to making it look easy. Overall when racing in the wet the main thing you have to be careful of is too much throttle or brake input, if you can control that you will do just fine (you will just be slower than in the dry).

By looking at videos it seems that almost no control is required, cars are never snappy in response to throttle etc etc. I have yet to get a proper answer beside "he wasn't pushing that much".

As I said above you definitely do need to be careful with your inputs, it really does normally come down to how hard the driver is willing to push the car.

I asked some of the most active video recorders if they were using heavy assists to make a nice smooth video but never got an answer.

I can't speak for others but I don't use any assists EXCEPT when using a controller and even then it's only just ABS, nothing else.

Project CARS is a driving sim, it's not Gran Turismo 7, a wheel will always be faster and there will always be someone with a controller saying they can keep up, but the fact is they can't.

@azidahaka I know what you're referring to with the wet weather driving from the old GT300 days. I can assure you wet weather driving in GT6 is far more difficult than it should be. Rain tires actually do have decent grip in the rain. The loss of grip is more in acceleration and braking rather than corner speed.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Would you mind doing the Formula C at Silverstone?

Like I said, I would rather see it for myself.

Are there any leaderboards for PCars that show what controller people are using?

Leaderboards show whether the person used controller, wheel, or keyboard.
Well in that case can we see some of them and see if any controller guys are doing well. I remember seeing them a couple of weeks ago so there must be a link around here somewhere:confused:

I remember that most people on there are with wheels. I'm away from my PC now, so cant post. I think there may be a few people in the top 15-20 with a controller. Not sure if that says about controller difficulty or that most people use a wheel.

Epic camera view! Mod or standard? Would love to see that on consoles
I think this is a "mod". He probably used "free camera" controls and positioned the camera this way. I'm pretty sure its activated with a specific key combination, so I'm not sure if this functionality will be available in the final release.

Sure thing.

CTRL + K. :dopey: You can only use the debug controls using the -gold launch command line though, something that will be gone from the full release (pretty sure)

It is hardly representative, but with Formula C at Silverstone, the fastest pad driver is at position 23, there are only 26 times on the leaderboard, though. Seems like a not very popular combination.

On the more populated FC leaderboards, the fastest pad drivers are normally Pos 10-20, with one fast dude occasionally breaking into the Top 10.

As everyone was discussing wet weather and particles( spray and smoke) heres possibly one of the more difficult combinations.

It may also be difficult to be spot but the Ai actually slide the corner

Was about to ask the same question. Why slicks? And look at how they're all going off-track at the chicane! :D Cool video though, towards the end you get a dry line... nice. And that's Ben Collins on the team radio, right?
