Haven look at price but has to be cheaper, if Sony decide to replace some parts of PSP and dropped the $ is the only reason i can see to introduce new game console. Next to PSP TV and PS4.

Now i like the idea that Sony is not giving up, and still charge ahead with introducing not only one new game system which in this case is PS4 but also give us opportunity to play PSP on TV screen or buying new model.

Sony is train that crushes Microsoft with it's One. I mean one idea  I wish Microsoft good but I've picked my game console for 2014 and it's PS4

Nah it's not cheaper. Well not in my eyes. 9 US dollars to drop to LCD screen is not an attractive proposition to me.

Seems like a pretty good announcement, LCD screen may be a downgrade but it'll still be good enough and cheapen the manufacturing costs for Sony which could, in turn, give consumers lower prices. Also 1 GB on board is nice. Those memory cards are still way to expensive though, they need to sort that out !

Buy Killzone Mercenary and you have to dl a 1,1 GB patch. I won't even fit on the 1 GB internals. Customers would be better off with a huge price drop for the memory cards.

Don't get me wrong, you should get a Vita, wonderfull machine. I just 👎 the pricing of memory cards.

Killzone is uber nice though :)

I've been using my Vita a lot more recently, Killzone is very good, Urban Trial Freestyle is a good time sink, not forgetting Lumines, jetpack and a few others that were/are available for free.

Am I the only one who dislikes the Vita? I have had one for nearly a year now, and there are two big issues that I have with it.

1) The battery life is terrible. The specs say it should last 4 hours between charges, but I can have the brightness set a low as possible, wifi off etc. and whilst gaming I will get a low battery warning after about 2 1/2 hours. It's just sooo bad.

2) The games. Most of the games on the Vita are available on the PS3, but they are just toned down. Fair enough, they are about a tenner cheaper, but I cannot buy a game on the Vita knowing that I can buy a superior version with more features and better graphics.

I'd say you have an issue with your battery. My brightness is on full (or just about the highest setting) with WiFi on and I don't think I've ever had less than 4 hours of gaming time. All my good buddies with Vita's have never complained about the battery life either. My Vita has a longer charge than my 3DS XL, that's for sure.

As far as games, I think there are plenty of Vita exclusives that more than justify a system purchase, but that is just my opinion. If there are two versions of the game and they don't have cross-buy I generally buy the PS3 version too, but there are some occasions where the Vita version is superior. Again though, I personally think the Vita has a pretty good library of exclusives, I have way more exclusive games for my Vita than I do my 3DS. Obviously though it all comes down to personal taste.

I bought my Vita on launch day and I haven't regretted a second of it. I have just about every handheld released in America (and a lot that weren't) and the Vita has been my favorite out of all of them.

This has always been the issue with handheld's which have console bigger brothers. The PSP had the same problem with many games (particularly 3rd party ones) just being lower quality / content rehashes.

Much of the problem is developers are scared to plough the same kind of money into a portable exclusive as they would a console exclusive. Would you see a dev dropping 100 million?.... no! Plus the rise of cheap app games has made it even worse.

It is a pretty damn interesting concept, special working from a wifi infrastructure.

For one, playing vita games with DS3, directly output HDMI to the thing, while it runs at 720 and also have a chance of placing the PS4 whenever you want.

I'm still not interested in the Vita, PSP had some great neat features but what mattered was games, same for the PS4 at some degree.

We need way better games but this is pretty damn neat.

It also needs 4g or 3g free of provider, quite badly.

Hopefully I'm getting a long term loan of my brother's Vita (in return for the 400 hours or so he's spent playing DayZ on my PC) so I can test it out with the 'free' games I've been getting on PS+, I may also buy a few PSP games for it like Portable Ops and GT PSP, but I'm not all that interested in the portable console itself; I want a Vita TV. Anything that can stream from a more powerful machine interests me, Nvidia's Shield for example, even though I think it's ugly, expensive and Android games don't typically interest me.

Even without the streaming capability the idea of a tiny, cheap console that can play games like Wipeout, MGS, GT, PS One games (right?) and a few others all while using a DS3 controller does appeal to me.

Edit: Anyone interested can now pre-order a PS Vita TV from Play Asia for just under £100, though there may be customs fees involved. I think I might just do it... It ships in January, apparently.

Yes, it's great deal. Having portable console not being portable it's kind of weird concept but seems to catch people attention, it sure did grab mine. Mainly because of DualShock usability which is the best game controller in the world. That's probably one reason to make psp compatible with TV. I can't wait to play Uncharted Golden Abbys and wipeout on my 55 screen.

It's funny, but the three things that put me off about the Vita are: the fact that it has a battery rather than a constant supply, the small screen (relative to my TV, I mean, it's a decent size for a portable console) and the compact controls. I've seen a lot of games for it that I want to try out (hence why I'm pestering my brother to get him to lend me his) and if I enjoy them I'd much rather sit back on my sofa with a full size controller to play them. Of course, it is kind of strange to want to buy a £100 TV console to play PSP/Vita versions of PS2/3 games on the same TV I play PS1/2/3 games on, but... I don't really have an answer to that. It's a gadget and it plays games, therefore I must have one.

Wife got me a vita 2 days ago. It bricked last night after updating to 3.0. Took it back to GameStop and got a new one. Hopefully I get to try this one out. I downloaded the free PSN + games earlier. Tried uncharted out for about 5 minutes and was really surprised at how poor the graphics were. I can't imagine playing it in a tv. It would look terrible in a bigger screen.

I also talked to the gamestop guy and he claimed that vita tv still needed a vita to be able to stream ps4 games. That doesn't sound right.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's false since the Vita TV IS a Vita, just with HDMI output instead of the screen, no touch panel nor integrated buttons.

I've got my brother's Vita for a long term loan type deal, so far I've installed Wipeout 2048 (pretty excellent, as you'd expect, but damn those thumb sticks have limited travel), GT PSP (not really what I was expecting, but hey, it's kind of like GT (even if I was able to buy a whole pile of cars before I even did any racing)), Front Mission 3 (A PSX classic, haven't tried it yet) and Super Crate Box (a PS Mobile game, extremely simple concept but equally extremely well executed). Given that I can play FM3 remotely I might swap it for Hotline Miami.

I can't really seem to find any Vita exclusives worth bothering with, though. Are there any? Super Stardust Delta looks good but I had Super Stardust HD on my PS3 and I imagine this is much the same deal, just as Wipeout 2048 doesn't really seem to change the formula much, though that's fine by me. It seems like they might be depending on the Vita's ability to stream PS4 games to shift units because the library of actual exclusive games kind of sucks as far as I can tell.

Really? I thought Uncharted: GA was probably the best looking handheld game I've ever played. Screenshots of it don't always look great but in motion I think it looks good. If you thought it looked bad than you will be in for a surprise with some other titles.

Just like neema said, that's not true.

My favorites are Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, ACIII: Liberation, and SSDD. All good games even if they don't blow you away.

Personally, I would put Golden Abyss ahead of the first Uncharted. Gravity Rush is really cool and will be getting a sequel. Soul Sacrifice is a very good title but extremely complicated with not much of a tutorial. Liberation I liked but it could be a little slow. Definitely feels like an AC game though. Upcoming is Tearaway. A few previews had made it clear that it is Vita's first must own title.

Got my Vita a couple of days ago, it's mainly for remote play proposes but having PSN+ really does open up the experience.

Got Uncharted which I thought look stunning and plays very much like its bigger brothers, Gravity Rush which again looks great and is a really fun (if alittle challenging!) both for free and bought Hot Line Miami for like £2 odds, very addictive and loving the retro feel (reminds me of the original GTA titles)

Overall if your also getting a PS4 I say go for it!

Thanks for the recommendations, he actually left his Uncharted card in there, I might have to give it a go. I have Gravity Rush from PS+ so I'll try that too, I have no idea what Soul Sacrifice is but I'll take a look at it. As for AC:L, I'm not a fan of AC games so I'll probably pass on that one.

I'm toying with the idea of picking up Metal Gear: Portable Ops and Portable Ops+ but the 4GB memory card only goes so far. I might even buy a bigger one, but they're so expensive considering how much a similar sized SD card costs; <£6 for an 8GB micro SD, £17 for an 8GB Vita card.
