The format sounds good btw rosckolove. The only difficult thing here is setups, obviously we all like our cars to handle a certain way but the setup can buy you many seconds if its right, so its not really a true test of the driver....but how to get around that one?

You will be allowed to tune suspension/lsd/trans. I will probably do the weight reductions to the car then bring them back up around stock weight but in a different ballast position (of your choice obviously). So tuning is allowed you will just have a minimum weight and max hp to meet. I think tuning the car to handle the way you like is half the aspect of GT5, I would never take that away.

I don't expect much of a turnout due to previous problems in the thread along with short notice, but I plan on running a race this weekend to see how the idea works out.

This week we will be running the Corvette ZR1

Weight 1320 KG
HP 638
Sport Softs.

You can do whatever you want to meet the specs. Tuning allowed.

You can add any parts and play with tuning as long as it have 1320kg and use sport soft with 638hp?

Alright thanks :) if i have some free time over the weekend i might try a quick session.

6:52.208 Offline with tire wear off, ABS 1, no other aids. Someone forgot to tell Chevy that cars don't just go in a straight line:crazy: Just bought the car, threw on a tune I thought would work, had time for 2 laps...I'm sure there's many seconds to be had...it was not my best lap nor even a good one but I don't have any more time so it'll have to do.

You asked for input on the OP so here it is:

It's missing a lot of details you'd normally find in any competitiion. Is SRF on or off? Grip reduction high or low? Tire wear on or off? Online or practice mode? Every single possible setting needs to be acknowledged and you need to make a specific for it or say it's left up to us. Otherwise you end up with guys using different settings and the times aren't comparable. SRF is the biggest obviously but tire wear settings make a difference, grip reduction can affect lap times etc. Here is an example from the current WRS TT at Suzuka:

Skid Recovery Force Aid: OFF (Those Found using this Aid will be DQ'd) - Be Careful - The Setting for This Aid is Whatever You Used Last - Be sure it's set to 'Off'
Tire Type: Racing Medium (R2's)

Other Aids (Traction Control, Active Steering, and ASM
): Optional
Grip Reduction on Track Edge: Optional
Mechanical Damage: Optional
Controller Steering Sensitivity: Optional
In Event Tuning Settings: Optional (If Available)

I found this thread yesterday and read the OP then skipped to the last page and saw MikeGT3 posting which gave it immediate validity in my books as Mike is a stand up guy and he is the "Ring Master" as far as I'm concerned. But curiousity got the better of me and I read through the thread a bit this morning..:banghead:🤬

Looks like we're beyond that which is cool, but I feel I have to say that I am not recommending any settings, you can have any settings you like for the competition, it's yours to do with as you want. I just want them spelled out so I'm not measuring myself against someone else who is running different grip and track physics than I am and I think most people would agree. I also want to know what they are because I'm not interested in running in anything with SRF as a personal preference.

I have another suggestion too. If it's going to evolve into racing online, I'd suggest qualifying on the old Nurb but racing on the 24 hour track or one of the extended tracks, to give guys a chance to sort out their positions before they get to the real Nurb. Makes for much cleaner racing and more enjoyment overall.

You have the potential for a great thing here I hope it works for you. Don't forget some love for the untuned cars and cars on comfort and harder sports tires. You get some extremely close racing at 400-450 PP on CS tires for example, where racecraft and setting up passes becomes much more important as opposed to all out speed, and gives some of us less experienced Ring guys a shot at competing.:sly:

EDIT: Thought of something else. I don't think it's necessary to ask everyone to provide a replay. Even the WRS doesn't require that, they just require that you save it in case they ask for it. What I'd suggest is that at most require the top 3 to post a replay for a short time and then go on everyone's honour, but request all drivers to save a replay at all times as they do in the WRS so you can request them as needed. If anyone is bs'ing it will sort itself out on the track in the real race and if someone is continously saying they are fast but doesn't prove it in the race, just start requesting their replays once in a while. In time this stuff will sort itself out it always does. In the Parity League I run in we qualify cars to a certain laptime/track/tire combination and have guys as much as 50pp apart on their honour, but we all end up with the same laptime and cheating has never been an issue. You can't lie once the race starts...lol.

Updated the OP a bit. I don't have time to discuss everything right now but i'll be on later.

I was thinking about the weight and hp requirement, some country will have different hp/torque rating, and can get like 5 hp difference more or less depending on the power of the car, may be set a weight requirement, and a PP requirement instead of HP? :)

i have a few minutes free i will give a try at the stock corvette on sport soft to get an idea at 638hp(680hp fully broken-in in my GT5)

edit: i did some laps offline, no time to tune the car so i left the diff, transmission and suspension stock, tried with both stock weight and 1320kg, the car felt more stable with full weight, but theres noticeable gain with 1320kg on acceleration and on some corners when get right. i had a 6:47.028 full weight and lost about 1 full second almost lost control. And with 1320kg it was 6:44.112, i think theres another full second to shave on a good lap.

I finally developed a bit of flow on the sport softs. 6:43.6xx with an error in the beginning costing me 1.5 seconds. Man what fun these tires are though.

I'm at 594 PP
I have the rear wing installed at half downforce, or ten clicks.
It could be faster without it due to understeer, But I wouldn't know. I'm still learning the tires.

Hehe yeah you can feel the car better, feel more alive than racing soft. :)
I will try to run again during the week after work and see if i can work on a tune, im not that good at tuning.

Shame its just us.

I'm gonna run the calsonic GT-R this week on racing hards.
502hp at minimum weight, I'll check the PP when I get a chance.

Thx, i will be very busy in the next week, and if i have spare time it will probably be for the current WRS event i decided to give a try, then i am off for one week for a trip, but i will run more of those after that :)

Well hello...

Is that stock with PL to 502HP, or adding engine stage's and turbo's and running 70% PL?
On a stock car with max aero, it should be around 605PP iirc.

I'll give it some laps, but I'll probably run 55 aero on the rear at the most.

I was running full down force at 608 pp

Engine stage 3, No turbo.

What's your best so far?

I'll run mine with the stock GT-R PL'd down to 502.(never a fan of big PL, even when it's faster)

I haven't put enough time into it yet, I don't even know. I would like to run some heads up rounds if you have time, And possibly get some advice on my flat track issues lol.

The week caught me out with lots of busy. :(

I'm game for some lobby time, I have most of this week free if you're around.👍

I assume by flat-track issues you mean non-Nordschleife tracks?

So I have been racing a lot of 500 pp cars on sport soft tires. Using the premium spirit R Rx7 I was able to get a 9:00.5xx in a standing start race at the 24h track.

Car weighed 1408 kg's with 374 ish hp. No downforce, all aids off except ABS set to 1. Grip set to real.

This is by no means a perfect lap. But it's close. If anyone gives it a try let me know what you got. Trying to see where I stand on the sports tires.

Hi Day Iv also done a 9min flat in a Rx7 spirit r standstill lap online tyre wear on normal but you already know that ill see ya later mate.
