The Rolex Sports Car Series /Help Plan Season 2!/

Because you were the only person to use a DP. I don't know why you got points anyway. You didn't even race. The GT guys finished ahead of you. Did you even turn enough laps to pit? Maybe you should have ran GT instead.

Another thing- you gotta seriously think about the things you're saying before you say them. I'm not trying to be mean, or rude to you. Just think about what you're saying! You said we need less time for qualifying on a longer track? That makes no sense. 5 minutes qualifying on LeSarthe wouldn't even be enough time for an outlap then a timed lap. Even with your LMP/DP. It will take you at least 3:30 to do a lap, so by the time you got half way through your timed lap, qualifying would be over. How is anyone supposed to qualifying if we only had 5 minutes for that track? Just think about what you're trying to point out and use a little knowledge. You don't want to come off sounding foolish.

I think, we should actually run much longer sessions on those tracks, and, considering the length, both classes at once, for probably an hour. I mean, someone in the Karussel won't be bothered by a slower car in Tiergarten... Nor would Bergwerk influence traffic, if the traffic were near Schwalbenschwanz. Consider it that way, and you have the same number of laps turned in an hour (about 5-8 depending on class and track layout) in an hour, instead of twenty minutes at 2.5 minutes a lap, like Suzuka in a street car...

Also, james, the real reason why you're high in points, is because we're having a massive shortage of DP guys. I don't mean to rat on you so much, but, you NEED to work on your consistency.

Also, if you're on your out lap for qualifying, stay OFFLINE (off of the main racing line) to avoid that problem. Wait 'til you're in clean, open air, and then open up the throttles when you're at least 40 seconds away from the nearest car in both directions. Sure, it'd be hard to get a 40 second gap on a track like Monza, Autumn Ring mini, or High Speed Ring (small, shorter tracks with low lap times, but, try to find a spot where you can give yourself the best chance at an unhindered lap, no matter what class you're in, or tires you're on.

For Sarthe, I reckon about 30 mins qualifying for each class. Yes you don't have as many laps to make as most other circuits, but the track is probably two to three times as long as the others, so you're car runs that risk of fading in bhp early into the race if you try to do the same amount of laps as you usually would.

Also, someone mentioned this very early into the creation of the series, but having someone look at the lap times is a must. The way I can see that happening properly is a process I can't physically decribe clearly without going through it step by step. So here goes:

~ GT Cars class go out do their qualifying times.
~ When Qualifying finishes and the last of the cars are in the pits, there is a 5 minute waiting period where ALL cars stay in the pits. NO BACKING OUT OF THE TRACK TO CHANGE ANYTHING, REASON COMING SOON.
~ In this time, someone from DP (or a nominee/volunteer from GT) goes into the "watch race" and notes down the current GT lap times, and who made them.
~ After times are noted, places are awarded based on those. Once this is done, it is then fine for people from GT to back out if they want/need to.

Note: For DP, this same procedure applies.

This process potentially saves us from how we always seem to have different grid positions displayed on our screens, and not really knowing where we're actually supposed to be.

Ya I like this idea but we should have a DP driver do it for GT and a GT driver do it for DP

Hi man, he had to make a travel work, I think this race He will compete!!

Hurray! Although I think I accidentally deleted him :( I think he was one of the peugeots?

Who said yea to it this time?

Hehe, James.. Maybe it's not in legislature yet... MAKE IT THE LAW, MAN. THE LAW!

We're talking about it now. I can't make promises and I think it will work better if there is one driver so they can make one chat message for the class they're keeping times for. So there will be two chat messages, one for each classes starting orders.

Again, exactly what my idea was... Not bragging, but, I want to see this tournament turn out just as well as everyone else.

Well it wasn't your idea because yours was everyone has their own person watching them. Mine has one person getting times for the whole class... So there definitely different.

I don't think he meant it like that when he mentioned it, polar. Anyways, you wouldn't need one person for each driver, you only have to go back and check everyone's best lap times in the "watch race" section, and going to the icon that brings up the computerised monitor for lap/sector times. But to do that, everyone needs to stay in the pits and not back out to the main screen until the times and positions have been noted down and relayed to the rest of the drivers.

Yea, I understand how it works, I just think that we both read his post two different ways. Maybe a rewording or something would help, but both ideas are quite similar. The only real difference is the amount of people writing down times.

No. I said something similar to: I think we should have two stewards. One will write the times for GT, because they're in DP, and the other will write the times for DP, because they're in GT. 👎 People never read my posts or something? My posts mightn't make sense if you don't properly READ every word.

Sorry if thats what you ment, but im pretty sure you said that one dp driver should watch one gt driver and vice versa. Thats more than two people. I may have misread, Im also doing a powerpoint on the 1936 olympics, so im kind of just checking this. I also dont really really read your posts too deeply, they come across "cocky" to me. Not sure if their ment to be like that, but it seemed like the same thing happened at the ALMS thread too... But, that got to the point of them saying "and who are you?..." so maybe we got to a bit of a rocky start.

Hello everyone!

I have been talking to polarbear345 and I am now part of the league (hooray now we got another idiot to look out for....)

Not at all! I assure you that I am a VERY curious driver... I am going to be a part of the Team Oreca ( the blue one with chrome) for Peugeot.. Who ever my team mate is, could you please add me? My user name is swagger897. I would like to know what your tune is, and see if I can happen to get one to my likings, and that we can race competitively... Thanks everyone, hope to see you at the track!!! ( Especially at Le Mans!!!! I would die if I win there!!!!)

Thanks,
Swagg

So, in short, the break's sorta 5-10 minutes long? Or, even 15, if a person's not writing down GT times?

Yea, pretty much, unless you had to write times down.
