The Rolex Sports Car Series /Help Plan Season 2!/

As it stands, these are the total number of miles per race. I've highlighted how long each track is and the number of laps too.

Guess my math was a little off- I wanted them all to be about 115-120miles. But Daytona laguna and Indy will be longer now because of the endurance championship.

Thank goodness for MS Excel 💡, though I could've worked this out on my own anyway without it. I can understand Indy and Laguna, but why Daytona? Anyway, if you're going for a specific race time, then you should be considering how long each lap takes instead. But that is a bit more difficult to work out, since lap times will vary, so you're probably better off sticking with mileage.

Ya I did it myself :), but I was a little wrong :(. And Daytona Indy and laguna are part of our North American Endurace Championship (naec for short) so they will count for the normal championship and the will be a little longer. I'm going to adjust the times a little.

Meh, I wouldn't worry about getting it wrong, and at least now I know why you're making the change.

Oh yeah, I'm setting up a Dodge Viper for the series right now. Firstly, because I'm feeling a little sorry for the poor thing being neglected, and secondly because it looks like Collin JDM might throw toys out of the pram if he doesn't get the Audi or Chevy spot.

CollinJDM, while I sympathise with the not having credits to buy stuff... when there's a bunch of seasonal event giving you more than enough GT credits to go wild with buying cars, and you not seeming to grasp the basic idea of actually checking what cars are available on the front page of the thread before you decide... my sympathy level isn't very high. Read this next bit carefully....

Collin, I will swap my choice of Audi for Dodge to free it up for you, despite the 1000km or so of testing I racked up to get that R8 running nicely. Yes, I'm aware that you probably see me as a bit of a A-hole towards you (and you'd be right to think that), but I'm a nice guy at heart and don't want to see someone who's willing to participate in this series lose interest because of a car choice issue. I'll let you have the Audi R8 slot, just don't make me regret my decision.

Wwwwwwwwhhhhhhaaaaaaaaatttttt stormpacer not in his green Audi?!?!?!?! The changes, hopefully for the better though!

I hope this won't be like the last series where some idiot kept rear ending me.
Got to keep some distance, but it can work, as in the GT4 cup Im in.

Ya were going to have to work out the formation lap because last time it was more of a demolition derby than anything

Corr this Viper.... I'ma have trouble with this one I think. If I could just control the car enough to ping it through the turns I'll be laughing. Trouble is that every suspension setting I use for it is not good enough, and I don't have that killer ability to make minute changes to the steering mid corner due to using a DS3 controller. I'll be lucky to hit 1:46's consistently.

I can send you my Corvette for a test if you would like to give it a shot.
Im feeling adventerous so maybe I'll campaign the Viper and we can swap.

I have all the cars ready and modded, but thanks for the gesture Phil. Well there is one more Viper slot so you could actually join me if you wanted. Also, my 1:45.713 on Racing Softs just now has me thinking that there's still hope for the car.

The viper is pretty good at laguna though

Just posted a 1:45.482 in the standard model (as in non-premium) Viper SRT10. WHAT THE ****!?!?!

If you're taking the Dodge Viper, its the Premium Model Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupé '06. So.... you're NOT going to use take my offer of using the Audi R8?

Thank you for making it clear, I didn't know how much more clear I could be

no but you should update it for all the people that made changes you can update it when i decide if i will change my car

alright i will add this to the origional post once i find a good place for it :)

Starts:

These will be a little different than most leagues so read carefully. We will be doing a rolling start for both classes. The starts will be staggered (if you dont know what this means, ask me ill be glad to tell you). What will happen is that the DP cars will set off on their formation lap (75 mph) around the track with the GT cars staying stationary on the grid. Once the DP cars have all cleared the first turn, the GT cars will set off on their formation lap (also 75 mph). Rules for both classes on formation lap below:

DO NOT HIT ANYONE!!!- its a formation lap, no passing!

GO SINGLE FILE! only go double file on the front straight (special exeption at Daytona)

Once the race leader crosses the finish line, the race has started!

My Report for all cars at Daytona. I will list my feeling about the car and also show its best lap over a 6 lap race. and my theoretical lap which is all my best sectors added up for a perfect lap time.

All cars were tested with default settings, so brake balances were 5/5 unless stated otherwise. \

All the cars had their oil changes and engine were broken in.

I will list all parts added to the car as well.

I'll start with the DP class: from slowest to fastest

Toyota GT-One 565HP 970KG Racing softs front and back.
Best lap time- 1:34.851 3rd place
Best Sectors:
Sector 1 2nd Lap- 26.038 2nd place
Sector 2 4th Lap- 22.319 3rd place
Sector 3 4th Lap- 12.999 3rd place
Sector 4 5th Lap- 14.095 3rd place
Sector 5 6th Lap- 18.938 3rd place
Best theoretical Lap- 1:34.389 3rd place

No parts added only added Ballast and used the limiter to bring the HP down to 565. I set the transmission to top out on the front stretch which was 201MPH. this car was also twitchy on the brakes so I changed the balance to 5/4 to help that a little. over this car was very stable on corner exits and had a lot of maneuverability but is the slowest of the bunch.

My suggestions: I say give this car about 10 more Horsepower to 575HP so it can keep up with the competition. Maybe with some tuning I could maybe get a second out of it but I'm not a master tuner with LMP/DP type cars.

Peugeot 908 585HP 970KG Racing softs front and back
Best lap- 1:33.962 2nd place
Best Sectors:
Sector 1-26.046 2nd place
Sector 2-22.151 2nd place
Sector 3-12.881 1st place
Sector 4-13.937 2nd place
Sector 5-18.935 2nd place
Theoretical lap- 1:33.950 2nd place

Same as the GT-One I didn't have engine mods or turbos only added ballast and used the power limiter. I did have the brake balance at 5/4 and the transmission was set to hit 201 before hitting the red line. This car was one of the more difficult to drive due to its bottomless pit of low end torque. So i was being extra careful on the throttle on corner exits. This car could definitely gain well more then a second of maybe 2 with some decent tuning.

My suggestions:
Take the HP down to 575 as this car was not as forgivable as the Toyota or the Bentley but still damn fast on the straights.

Bentley Speed 8 570Hp 970KG Racing softs front and back
Best lap-1:33.814 1st place
Best Sectors:
Sector 1-26.019 1st place
Sector 2-22.027 1st place
Sector 3-12.946 2nd place
Sector 4-13.783 1st place
Sector 5-18.870 1st place
Theoretical best lap-1:33.645 1st place

This car was a joy to drive compared to the 908 but was much faster then the Toyota in every way. This car had no mods like its competitors but I left the Brake Balance at 5/5 this time. Transmission was set one click on the top speed to keep the car from redlining on the straights. The car felt the best with its default settings I doubt tuning could make it faster then it already is.

My suggestions: I say keep the Hp at 565 even tho its the fastest the 5 HP is going to put a very tiny dent in its peed but i expect the Toyota to be faster with the extra 10 HP keep it on par with this car. Maybe after tune this car maybe be the slowest behind the 908 but this car is the easiest to drive out of the DP which could help it gain overall speed with a consistent pace.

I'm going to take a quick break I will have the GT class report in about an hour or so.
