The Rolex Sports Car Series /Help Plan Season 2!/

The only way I reckon more than one race should happen is if we had 25-30 drivers so we could do an upper & lower division, same goes for ITCC.

Yes, and by the looks of it, we won't have to cross that bridge.

well at least in Rolex. The way ITCC has had attracted attention, it may be a viable option by the end of preseason

Quite true. And Skype question: I can't figure out how to awnser calls on my phone. I can on computer and today I could hear you guys, but I'm not sure how I did it. It would make it lots easier!

I've no idea. In the ITCC, I doubt that anyone will be in a second lobby. I could organize it, but, I'm not going to do that until there are 16 drivers at every race.

Building the RX-8 now. Hoping to use the matte gray paint I have, to make it resemble the #70 Speedsource...

Just did some practice on Laguna Seca for the race this weekend. Surprisingly,(To myself mostly) I managed to do a 1:16.377 because I actually messed with the settings of the car for once. Hoping I can to a bit better with some more practice.

Mazda RX-8:

As tested:

462/474 hp and 1085 kg

What I noticed and liked:

-CHANGES DIRECTION TWICE AS FAST AS AUDI R8
-goes through low speed chicanes 30-40 km/h faster than the Audi R8
-mind boggling rotary power band
-acceleration (horsepower to weight ratio)
-bump stability
-simplicity to tune (all rotary Mazdas in GT5 have great tunes stock)
-revs faster than F1 cars

What I noticed and disliked:

-aerodynamics (or, lack thereof) :yuck:
-high speed cornering speed
-twitchy, finicky gears (always adjusting)
-second and a half slower than Audi around Nürburgring GP/F

Recommended opponents: RUF RGT, Dodge Viper Coupe, Chevy Camaro, BMW M3 CSL

Summary:

This car's incredible through chicanes. This car is at least 30 km/h faster through the NGK chicane at Nürburgring GP/F than the Audi R8. However, it lacks front downforce, (as so many cars do) and that really causes huge problems in the Michael Schumacher S-Kurve, and other high speed corners. Its rotary motor is a masterpiece; unlike the transmission it's coupled to, which, as stock, tops out at 255 km/h. Adjustments to the gearing just seem to be a problem, because drivers will always need to adjust it perfectly.
The outright pace is there, on tighter tracks, with slower corners. I dare say that the RX-8 would be the fastest car at Cote D'Azur, Madrid, London, or any other city track, barring all the tracks in Tokyo (Tokyo R246, SS5, CS5, and all the other SS tracks.)

If this car had more downforce, it'd be unstoppable, but, it can't compete with the Audi. The lack of front downforce will cost this car many points over a longer season, unless the Ferrari 458, Dodge Viper ACR and Audi R8 are not run.

Against the Camaro, Viper coupe, RUF RGT, any Corvette or any M3 (probably the CSL because the '07 Coupe is too heavy,) the RX-8 would be decent competition. The lack of downforce just utterly destroys this car's chances against the cars with downforce.

Didnt someone already suggest using races versions of each car? I know not all cars have race versions. But we have more than 5 that do, right?

1. Viper team oreaca
2. RM Vette
3. M3 GTR
4. Audi R8 something. I know therea a race version. Team playstation?
5. Rx-8 has a race version

There are some other ones im pretty sure. But that would be qn awesome field.

We've already had this with Seth, we're going to stick with road cars.

Ahh ok. Was really just wondering if anything came out of that suggestion. Either way is good for me.

If there is room tomorrow in GT, you think I can test the viper acr in the race? Or would I just be in the way? I can stick with the Bentley tomorrow if thats what you want.

I was expecting low 1:15's, high 1:14's, actually, because I was getting round about mid 1:15's in a Speed 8. And I'm not running DP class, so I'm expecting those that are to get quicker, for some reason.

Really, I ran a 1.15.4 yesterday evening. I still feel like I can improve. I will try to make the practice session tonight. If not, I will try to test tomorrow afternoon. I have not tested tire wear. I will do that today before work.

Will you be having the practice lobby tonight? I am about to get off work in the next 30 minutes or so. After a quick supper I will be available to play.

Well the Friday practices were never really worth it, no one showed up.... But when someone opens a lobby usually some guys come.

And guys, I just moved my set up to the main floor- better connection!

Another **** race in the ALMS... Storm was fast. I was beside him, but EVERYONE blocked me. I'm pretty much done with the ALMS.. So, I might have more Rolex time now.

I mean, the guys nerfed the tire life of the M3, and made the Ford GT and Corvette overly fast.

Then, there's a complete loser in last place in LMP who decides to brake check me. I thought that that only happened in Forza... REALLY???

Yeah, second place was actually realistic for me, IF I'd have gotten one less pit in and gone for harder compunds....

Let's leave that on that thread...

But here's what the schedule looks like for the next few weeks:

This week: laguna seca season finale

Next week: DP/ GT re specing- I'll explain this further soon.

2 weeks away: Season two's first preseason race.

3 weeks: second pre season race.

4 weeks: first race.

*these may get pushed back a week*

My bad.... Pushed back a week? Whose fault could that be?

Time... If we don't get things equal enough. We can go into the first preseason race with some uneven cars, but I'm hoping we won't have to worry.

And I forgot to add... We're going to have to practice some cautions!
