What should the best tire we use for Season 3 be?

I always felt there was more grip in practice mode/aspec. Even if I turn all the settings to how they would be in lobby.

I never practice offline because of the difference in times. I get offline and run a time 1 second better than everyone else, or I am way off. Since we race online, I only practice there. It is weird that GT5 has different car physics online vs. offline.

I always practice in my lounge for everything.

May be interested in the Toyota DP... Maybe...

Hey LV. We would love to have you this weekend at Tokyo 246. Let me know if you want to test the car out or something 👍 My PSN is the same as my GTP.

First I have to know what the tire regs are and race distance. If racing softs are allowed I may not run. They ruin everything.

Hi!

There is a spot open in the Toyota, we do use softs for now, we are debating to ban them in season 3.

Races are about a hour and 15ish, but the NAEC races are more like 2 hours+

We'd live to have another DP driver!

We do allow racing softs. The main reason we do is because we are really just trying to have fun. We are considering switching to mediums or hards for next year though. The distances are generally about an hour to an hour and a half. This week, we are running 45 laps at Tokyo 246. :) I hope you are still interested.

How are the DP's with RH's? If it doesnt require TCS then I'm all for it. Even though I dont race in that class. :)

I agree. I think TCS shouldn't be allowed. I know it makes it hard on DS3 users, but it can be done. I have experimented with the DP with all 3 compounds already, and the hards aren't that difficult with the G27 after they warm up.

I think this may be on the wrong thread, but I'll answer it here :)

Haven't tried! Lol, I'm expecting a poo ton of wheel spin...

I think the conversation is between softs and mediums, I think softs would have heavy damage, and mediums we would stick to light damage.

I use a wheel so I already drive the Toyota with racing hards and no TCS without it being detuned lol. It's a beast.

I'm really all about simulation. I'm not trying to start a debate or argument, I just think softs are unrealistic. But I've got a WRC event earlier on Saturday. I'll do some testing during the week and let you know if I'll be up for it before Saturday.

That sounds good. I can control the DP without TCS no problem with my G27. I hope you can make it this week 👍

Sounds like a plan!

Not to start a war here, but I do agree with you on the softs being too grippy.

I think well switch over to mediums for season 3. They're not too unrealistic. I would consider them like the super softs of f1... Maybe softs.

I haven't really gotten damage, this season, that wasn't caused from something between Storm, Jakob, and me. :sly: I'd say, though, that damage on full would cure the "mass murderings" that are currently running wild..

I disagree with the softs being too grippy. They're not, but they are too short lived. If you take the times from a series like ALMS IRL, say at Laguna Seca, the Pole there from LMP1 is in the 1:13's, and best lap times are in the 1:15's, in ALMS on GTP we were in the 1:14s in qualifying, and 1:15's-1:18's in lap times on softs. So the times are basically equal, but their tires last much longer. Take a look at the times for Indy and you'll see the best times were in the 1:23's and averaged around 1:25's 1:26's for DP in the dry. So in all, the times are pretty close, even the GT's which were in the 1:31's and 1:32's.

So we should move to racing hards and have some massive weight drop/power upgrade?

Nope. I think, firstly, that this should remain in the season III thread. Secondly, mediums are fine. Thirdly, how much weight could you take out?

Not sure if it's just me, but I think that the current Mazda would be a loose cannon on harder tyres. It was insane on Indy with mediums, though it could just be my set up.

MAN!!! I have to go out of town tonight. But I should be back Friday night. Just letting you guys know that I wont make any kind of practice this week.

GT5's old tyre wear system was fine as it was.

Also, good spot of info there Seth. 👍

I'm not too confident about Tokyo Saturday night. I'm not liking the tyre wear at all. Cannot get those fronts to last on event footing with the rears.

Thing I would say though is LMP1s are 600+ bhp not 500-520 like in TT13s ALMS. So times should be much much slower. DP times were 2 or so seconds faster than the real ones on a slightly faster track due to the hairpins being made faster. (GT5s 21s to the 23s irl)

Also in Conti the GS pole was 1:36.1xx? Thats on racing hards, the pole by Brian in the 370z was a 1:35.922, again on a slightly faster track, which is pretty close.

This will probs create hell but it's the truth. Also RS F1 laps can be up to 4 secs faster than F1 pole laps.

No. We were doing 1:24s at best at Indy. Bourdais was doing 1:22s by himself with the rest of the field doing 1:23s.

1.23.9xx CND at Indy.

My point exactly. If we drop the weight, even by 30kg for next season, keep the Group C cars, and racing softs, we could hit the realistic times that the actual DP cars are setting. I don't mind going to mediums though.

I can get 2-5 laps more on mediums per stint than softs depending on the track. Only 1 more full lap at Nurb Nord. :) I do think we should take off around 20-50 kg from the cars also. They almost seem a little sluggish at the current spec of 502 bhp/1050-1060 kg.

Polar, can you put up the complete points compilation? It appears both Storm and Felipe have 60 pts from Indy, at least in the NAEC list
