What should the best tire we use for Season 3 be?

I think we should run races in a private lounge. Public rooms fudge the handling characteristics of the cars, plus no 'trolls' will be able to enter.

I think we should run races in a private lounge. Public rooms fudge the handling characteristics of the cars, plus no 'trolls' will be able to enter.

It's actually different, public lobbies have higher quality races and the handling characteristics actually worsen in lounges.

I don't think so.

Well I (from personal experience) find lounges slightly more laggy, and times are much different from lobbies/lounges. For example, in the F10 championship we practice in a lounge before the race, and we move to a public lobby during the race because it has higher quality.

Well it depends. Fixed host can possibly mean more lag, or less lag. It's really a gamble. Sorry for using the F10 series again but when we ran a race in Tokyo and we decided to use fixed host, it was a laggy mess with 10 people. Now, this season, we don't run fixed host, and we have up to 12 racers in the lobby, it rarely ever lags.

Well the host was from Germany and we had people from AUS/NZ, Spain, France, UK, Canada, and the US. Either that was the problem, or because of the fixed host, because we vowed not to use fixed host anymore and even with people from 4 different countries in each race, we still have minimal lag.

I think everything is just a gamble in GT5. Even with our typically solid hosts (seth & mel) there has been lag.

Its been so bad that the bottom half of the room would have terrible understeer and bad steering input.

I think they try to fix it, but its like one step forward and two steps back with PD.

Congratulations on your 1337th post.

There's always lag, I experienced little lag in Nurburgring, but it's weird that the people in this series have major connection issues (not seeing other cars, lag, disconnected) when in the F10 series we almost NEVER have these problems.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head.

In ALMS, most of us are from NA. And we usually have a somewhat smooth connection. Storm?....He's different...

I've found that the players that I'm having major connection issues with is Storm and Anthony. When I joined (multiple times) to your Nurburgring race I watched and found those two still sitting on the grid and after a minutes they were disappearing and few minutes later I disconnect. :boggled:

Those two, especially Anthony, are either lagging a bit or simply invisible.

He was fine in Nurburgring, (even though he forced me in the sand trap :grumpy:) and little lag was experienced from him. Daibaspeed kept on getting disconnected every 30 seconds after he joined.

I suggest you guys follow these steps to improving disconnection and freezes, etc. Thanks to GianDoe for showing me these steps and improving my PS3's speed and connection! 👍

We started with so many people, sad only 8 finished. If some of you are having problems with the game locking up load your PS3 into safe mode then select "Restore Default Settings". Once that finishes go back to safe mode and then select "Rebuild Database". Make sure you do this in that order, it won't erase your game data or replays etc, just makes sure the file system is optimized. I used to lock up a lot and this fixed it completely.

Here's the link to the offical ps3 blog explaining safe mode.

Also if you use a router make sure to put the ps3 in a "DMZ" which basically means it bypasses the router so the modem talks directly with the system and there's no middle man. If you need help doing this please let me know and I'll help you!

Everyone has it brother, check the link to the official sony blog I hyperlinked. I can try to find the one in german if you want it bruv. One of the ways you lose connection is because the ps3 locks up, doing those steps in safe mode prevents that type of disconnect. To access safe mode turn the ps3 off. Then hold down the power button until it turns on, and keep holding the power button down until the ps3 turns off again. Once you've done that hold down the power button again, it will beep, then you'll hear two quick beeps in a row. Once you hear two quick beeps in a row, release the power button. Follow the instructions and make sure to do the repairs in the order I said before. If your ps3 doesn't lock up this is nearly unnecessary, but doesn't hurt. Might as well, it helps the ps3 run cooler and easier. Mine used to spin up the fan a lot before I did this.

The other type of disconnect is from lack of bandwidth or shaky connection. It might simply be the provider, but to maximize everything you have make sure to update your router settings and put the PS3 in a "DMZ". That means "demilitarized zone" or in other words, an area your router doesn't mess with. That way you get 100% of what's available from your modem to your ps3.

Edit: Thanks Monster!

Just so you know, it deletes messages, corrupted files, and music playlists (not the songs themselves!). It doesn't delete save files (though make a back-up just in case), friends, trophies, and all other important bits. Though you may have to reinstall GT5 DLC, but that's only a minor setback.

But wait there's more! It would be better to have the ones who have connection problems be the first to join as they don't have to connect to everyone at first and others have to connect to them, know what I mean?

To start, thanks FH! I love the RX-8. I'm actually running the supercharger now, so that I don't have to worry about turbo lag causing the rear tires to spin.

Secondly, you didn't win "cleanly" Mitch. You had more straightaway speed than the Mazda, while the Mazda was drafting off of you. I call BS on your specs, man. I could understand, if you were in another Mazda, and you had 2 km/h LESS than the guy in draft, but, pulling away from a Mazda IN DRAFT tells me that you're bull:censored:ing us BIG TIME. :grumpy: I don't care to see you here again. Storm mentioned how fast the Ferrari was in the straights there too.

Cows, it was fun racing with you. Sorry about the little Michael Schumacher S-Kurve thing, I didn't really slow down much, but I had nowhere to go, and I noticed that you went into the marbles and skidded off. At that point, though, my goal was to compare the speed on the straights, between my Mazda and the Ferrari :censored:heads.

Mitch could've taken a better line for the corner, and got more speed on exit, giving him more speed on the straight.

That's how I got by tons of guys last night.

I really, really don't know why you're defending him. He was blocking the lanes (making more than one move) and forced me off the track. He also must have did something to Mel, because him saying "**** you Mitch" MID RACE has to be a pretty serious deal. I had a draft on him, with a nice exit launch on the last corner, he spun his tires on exit, and still managed to run away with it. The Ferrari's have the same horsepower as the Audi (if they weren't running extra) and me having 1. Better exit corner launch 2. Draft 3. Not spinning out the tires on the corner yet still losing out on the straight is pretty suspicious. I was actually able to hang on to a Camaro who was in clean air, and I was in the draft. I don't understand why a Ferrari would be able to outrun the Mazda which has 5 more hp, and about 150kg less weight. IN DRAFT. Now, can we please stop talking about this and move on to the more current problem, connection?

I find that in your own lounge, your lap times are faster. The host has the benefit of having the least lag which makes faster lap times. I think that is why the handling characteristics differ. Instead of connecting to someone else and the server, you just connect to the server. i.e. less bridges to cross in the connection, shorter time which means less lag.

To be honest, I think everyone did something wrong at one point or another, obviously some more than others.

I say we try a lounge with the room settings on low race quality or normal. No visible damage mics off, foreigners enter first. Look at the list before you enter to see who's in, once every non-US person is in, let the rest join.

That is the ideal thing to do. Put it in say MrM's lounge because he isn't stateside.

I will be a little late tonight. I will just start last in DP. Heck, I might not make it at all. I will let you guys know what my situation is when I know what I am doing.

I'm not going to make it to tonight's races. I'll try to be there tomorrow, Friday nights work better for me than during the week.

These are just support races for the big opener on Saturday. Make sure you stay updated on the forum for car spec changes.

To be quite Frank I couldn't care less whether or not you think I was cheating.. I didn't have to. The straight away can't account for 5.6 seconds of time gained, in 2 laps. I can assure you that.. Also I had the closest gearing I could have possibly had, and on top of that, I was exiting turns much cleaner than you. All of those being a pretty legit way to be faster down the straight. Exit is key. Wouldn't mind racing you all in one of my rooms.. Recommended car racing, everyone uses the same (stock) car on SH or CS tires. No setup. All driver. Wouldn't be able to call anyone a cheater under those circumstances.

Mitch got me in the grass, I went wide, re-entered the course, and Storm went on the inside and forced me on the sand trap.

Oh and Storm, I told him about 4 times to stop, it was getting irritating because I had to dodge the DPs ahead of me; I needed the caution to think on strategy and get a drink of water.
Oops, I didn't realise I forced you off. I know I had a lot of speed coming through that corner and was trying to force a yield, but I didn't realise I sent you off.

And as for telling him to stop, I saw that. I think I got fed up and accel'd to 100mph and rammed him so he'd try it on with me instead, but that didn't work, so....

Look mitch I've kept my mouth shut this whole time. Now if Melan says you were cheating you were probably cheating he has never done wrong to any of us before. Well besides me but that's a different story. So just shut up and quit trolling this great series we have created.

You think this is trolling? :scared:
I'm actually being quite serious. I'll put up the room number If anyone wants to race with me and some other guys I race with all the time, if anyone wants to join.

I kinda have to say, he isn't necessarily "trolling", more on the line of being a little over the top aggressive driver.
