This is a really old thread, but I'd still like to talk about my first (and only, so far) marathon. I ran the Tulsa, Oklahoma Marathon in October of 2003 when I was 16 years old. My time wasn't too great, but at least I finished.

I ran my first (and only, so far) half-marathon on June 2003 when I just turned 16 years old. I thought I did pretty good because my ending time was 1 hour and 39 minutes. That's about 7:35 per mile.

Every marathoner I've talked to has said not to try and run one competitivly(sp? that's the only way I'd run one) until your in your mid 20's. Something about chemical balances or whatnot. Just trying to complete one is fine though.

Around here, they don't even let you enter a marathon until you're 18 (anybody can enter a half-marathon though), so that must have something to do with it.
