Practice resumed last night, and new PBs were set. Theewar reamains at the top of the table, but Capt _D closed the gap down to just over a tenth of a second. Jammy_rex's time was recorded in a different practice session with both Capt_D and Cobani present, and replays were available to confirm this.

Practice will resume again tonight at 8.30pm, and also tomorrow and Saturday. During either Friday or Saturday, we will run some races with a pit stop, and go over track boundaries, as we didnt get a chance over the weekend.
Racing hard.

Here are the updated times after Thursday and Fridays practice sessions. Capt_D managed to move himself up into the pace setter position, but only by less than one hundredth of a second. We ran a race with a pit stop, and everything seemed fine. Final practice for tomorrows double point final race will be tonight, and the lobby will be open from 8.00pm. We will include a couple of pit stop runs again during the course of this final session.

All sorted. Cheers for pointing that out, just a finger error, haha.

Just a coincidence, but as Sunday Cup comes to a close this week, some of the cars we have used this season have been included in Autocars best British cars list, making Lotus the most popular car manufacturer. There was a feature in the local newspaper shown below.

edp 2.jpg

Not sure who the guy at the front of the car is, but it looks like he knows what hes doing. :sly:;)

The full feature can be read online HERE.

No, not streaming tonight. I kind of left that when we were struggling with connection problems.

So, tonight is the grande finale of season 4. Double points are on offer for this race. Can Capt_D hang onto his championship lead. Final practice last night showed some super clean and close racing. Lets hope for an awesome end to this Sunday Cup.

The laps are set to 32, which will take us sightly over the 1 hour mark, so we will follow the timetable below. However if everyone is in before then, we may start a little earlier.

A great sentiment well said Bo. We'll miss your cheery banter in the race finale lobby.

Well, that rounds off Sunday cup SIV. A demanding race to finish, with some super racing. It seemed that everyone had a story to tell from this race, and a new champ has been crowned. Full and final results will be published tomorrow as usual, but for now, the evening belongs to the top three. Enjoy your champagne gents.......Cheers everyone.

Well guys, Sunday Cup IV has come to an end. Before I go into my final race report, I just want to thank you all again for taking part in this series, and being absolute supreme sportsmen. This season has been the most popular to date, with 112 starter over 8 races giving us an average of 14 on the grid for every race. We also saw some new racers this season, who stayed and slogged it out to the bitter end. Thank you all, new and old Sunday Cuppers.

Race #8.....

After my race 7 early exit, I was determined to try and make up for loosing a heap of points. My main adversary was Jammy_rex, who had passed me in the standings, and with double points on the table, I knew I had to finish 1 place ahead to break even on points. The grid gave me that position, so I was relying on a mistake free race to keep that advantage. The first few laps were very close, with lots of tight racing. Jammy managed to get ahead of me from lap 1, but I kept a close distance, and managed to retake the position on lap 7, after some great close racing with SoKa. But as the tyres started to go off, Jammy closed the gap again. Lap 16, and Jammy got the pass done. My tyres were really feeling it by now, but I kept on going. A few mistakes lost me more time, and the gap grew. But then, I think that Jammy must have made a mistake, as he was right in front of me again. I pushed, probably harder than I should, on tyres which were worn down to 6 on the scale, and again mistakes put me off the track. I decided to make my pit stop a lap earlier than planned, and was caught out by the addition of fuel. I started to reduce the amount recommended, to save on weigh, but then changed my mind. I set the fuel at 13 litres, thinking it would be enough. Back out onto the track, and it was a lonely last part of the race. On lap 30, I passed Soka, who was going very slow. It seems he too was a victim of the fuel. Lap 32, and my warning light was on. I finally ran out just before Copse, and was helpless as both GC and Rosen passed me.

It has been an awesome championship, and now its time to crown the new Sunday Cup Champion. Capt_D has held the top spot since race 2, and with great consistent races he managed to make up a great points advantage. The double points for this last race saw a big mix up in the standings, with THEEWAR snatching the second spot from WEESCOTMAN by 1 point. JAMMY_REX takes the 4th position with 93 points, and its 92 points shared over 5th, 6th and 7th, with race positions giving the places. GC Gary also found himself on the left side of the table. Well done guys, and congratulations CAPT_D.

YOU ARE THE NEW

SUNDAY CUP CHAMPION!!!!!!

Well done to Captain Gary on your Sunday Cup Championship victory 👍 Awesome stuff all season from you and the other drivers which pushed you until the very end. I hoped I was going to be one of those drivers had I attended more races or had more luck in actually getting to finish them.

Also, congratulations to Ade once again on another successful season in The Sunday Cup, onwards and upwards for next season again 👍 Who knows, if rumors are to be believed, Season 5 could be on PS4.

But as regards the race itself, I am still fuming about being disconnected from what was shaping up to me the best race ever for me. Between having to switch chairs minutes before qualifying (which incidentally resulted in me making up all the time I was losing to the fastest guys  ), and then having an awesome race with Will, Theewar and Capt D as we broke away. I was gutted when my screen faded and showed me that all to familiar message, "Disconnected from lobby".

Had a shaky first few corners as I think I might have gotten a touch from Soka coming out of the left hairpin onto the straight. Thats my best guess because my car shot sideways and I saw he had slowed down, which let Jammy and Ade through. Manged to get past Jammy towards the end of the lap which was fun and I tried to make up the gap to the front 3 that was already quite big. But with their battling and my new found pace, I caught them quite quickly. I tried to stay at the back and wait for an ideal opportunity rather than force my way through, but I still had some fun with Will in places, then Capt D lost the back end and dropped back quite a bit.

But on lap 6, and I want to know if you guys experienced this as well, it felt I lost a huge amount of grip. After the long straight into the long S turns leading onto the old main straight, I braked in my normal spot and I nearly went straight off had it not be for me hitting Will, hopefully not enough to damage us. I had to be super cautious through the rest of the lap and lap 7 too as the car just did not want to stay in a straight line. And I don't know if it was me getting used to the car or what but it felt that on the part of lap 8 I got to do, that all the grip had returned. It was weird.

But nonetheless, gutted I could not stay for the whole race, I was having a lot of fun. Great way to finsh Season 4 and I'm already looking forward to the next one 👍

I too noticed a big drop in the grip at about the same time, which then seemed to return a few laps later, and remained until my tyres started dying.

Congratulations to CAPT_D for the championship win ......Suits you Sir..Also a big thankyou to ADE and Cobani,ADE for all the time and hard work you put in around the back of the garage in the Sunday Cup HQ,Its above and beyond what we deserve from someone whos not paid to do these things  you sir are a Legend. To Cobani for his Pics of the Day all Season 👍👍👍...

OK guys. I should be collecting the prizes from Lotus on Thursday, so news on who gets what will be announced in the evening. As we know, Gary has put up a ticket for the Silverstone classic event on Sunday July 27th. This comes in the first place winners pack. There are also other prizes for Capt_D, Theewar and Weescotman, so you guys need to PM me your postal addresses so I can send them all out this weekend.

Tomorrow I will be back on track, with a bit of practice for this coming Saturdays 500pp event at Suzuka in the NSX.

Also guys, stay tuned for some news on a very special event being organised by GC Gary and myself. You may have seen a few teasers on track over the last week or so, but all being well, we should be ready to give a bit more away this weekend.

One last teaser maybe...........you may have to look a bit harder than you think.

Had a shaky first few corners as I think I might have gotten a touch from Soka coming out of the left hairpin onto the straight.

Sorry for messing up Dowlin.. at that moment I was hoping you recovered fast in order no places were lost.:scared:

Congrats to theewar for a great win on a very demanding track under double the pressure!👍

But most of all, congratulations to the Captain for the consistency which gave him the title!

Thank you ade for organizing this. It was truly AWESOME!!!

Can't wait for the next one GC!

No problem, It wasn't much contact anyway so if I had gone off I wouldn't have really blamed you, especially on the first lap. I appreciated it when I saw you had slowed down though thanks again 👍

It's been a great season, the comraderie and competition has been excellent and shows you don't have to win every race to win a championship. Ade's decision to use four different Lotus' this season was inspired and suited perfectly the tracks they were used on, great work. 👍 As has been mentioned by Warren, thanks also to Bo for Pic of the Day, and to GC Gary too for his altruistic contribution to the prizes.

Well done to Warren for a fantastic win at Silverstone(d):sly: and snatching second place from Will in the Championship. Well done Will for third place podium in the race and Championship.

A pleasure racing with you all, thanks guys!

OK guys, picked up the final prizes today, and here is the prize breakdown.

1st PLACE...GTP_CAPT_D

"THE SUNDAY CUP" TROPHY...SILVERSTONE TICKET...2013 LOTUS EXIGE S DIE CAST MODEL USB FLASH DRIVE...LOTUS FORUMS KEY RING

2nd PLACE...THEEWAR

2012 LOTUS RENAULT F1 CAP...1972 LOTUS EUROPA SPECIAL DIE CAST MODEL...LOTUS FORUMS KEY RING

Many thanks to every one who has put up prizes for this championship. Lotus cars, for the die cast models, The Lotus forums, for the F1 cap and key rings, GC255, for the Silverstone ticket, and Cobani, for the trophy that will now become known as "THE SUNDAY CUP".

Now, there is a rule that comes into action from here on in. The holder of "THE SUNDAY CUP", will only be able to retain the cup, should he win the next championship. If this is not the case, the trophy must be sent to the new champion. The trophy is not large, (as you will find out Capt_D) so postage will not cost much.

Prizes will be sent out this weekend, if Weescotman could PM me his address, I may get them out tomorrow..

Tomorrow is practice for GC Garys Type R cup, and Saturday is 500pp club event at Suzuka in the NSX type R 2002. See some of you at these events.
