OK, guys. some news. Firstly, prizes have been sent, so Warren and Will should be keeping an eye out for the postman this week. Capt_Gary/Den will be receiving his in person at Silverstone. Would be great if we could get him on the podium there for a picture. Haha.

OK, onto some more news. As some of you may be aware, through a few teasers, fire works and date clues, and some cameo appearances at some practice sessions, GC255, and myself have been preparing a special event. So finally we can reveal what it is.

On the eve of this years 24 hours of Lemans, The Sunday Cup, together with The Type R Cup, will be hosting a heavy damage endurance special event.

LEMANS 24.PNG

Full and final car specs will be posted nearer the time, but I can tell you that there will be an equal number of each car available. The event will use time progression to fully capture a full 24 hour race experience. Tyre and fuel wear will be set to fast to try and recreate an accurate amount of pit stops for the duration of the race.

Some of you may remember that we tried this before in the Evora, as a Christmas special in 2012. It was a great success, with Dowlin just missing out on the chequered flag. It was also GC Garys first introduction to Sunday Cup, as he posted the room settings for the day/night cycle for us. Haha, we started the race in the dark that day, but this time we will start in the daylight.

The estimated duration for this event will be approx 2 hours, so we would be looking at a 9.00pm race start time.

Registration is open, but you will not be able to pick your car until we have finalized the full specs.

Thats a great start guys, 9 on the grid already for this epic race. I did see all the likes and posts at work, but didnt get the chance to knock up a list until now. As stated above, Gary and myself still need to do some work on the final race spec cars, and we hope to get these details available 10 days before the race, which gives us a little time to do a few practice runs.

I will be online tonight from 8.30pm to get some Type R Cup practice, so maybe I will catch some of you then.

Ok... Apologies for the lateness, but I've had a few things on recently! ;)

Wow, what final race of the season at Silverstone! This was one where I had managed to partake in two or three practice sessions so fundamentally I had some reasonable pace here. However, I didn't have any practice in the days leading up to the race (which really cost me as I'd lost some of the flow and momentum built up in practice), and I had been away Sat and Sunday with my girlfriend, and arrived back just before the race started!

And, the small manner that on the day of the race, whilst in Oxwich Bay in Wales, I proposed to my girlfriend and she said "Yes" !!!! :D  Wow, so I was super-excited and had been through a lot emotionally that day, so to get back in time for the race was a result in itself!

So, it was no surprise that come the qualifying session and beginning of the race, I felt rather tight in my driving and was super tentative! So much had happened during the day so far, and now (after a glass of bubbly) I had a race to run!

The person who I was most keeping an eye out for was scholesy, because he was one point ahead of me in the standings, so at the very least I wanted to finish ahead of him - and by qualifying two places ahead was a good start.

Ok, so I qualified in a not-too-bad 6th place, albeit some way off the time I'd posted in a practice session. The first few laps of the race were great; I got a good start, and squeezed through a gap as Soka and Dowlin had tangled which had hurt their momentum. By the end of the lap, Dowlin has past, and my attempt to re-pass led to a slight loss of time, allowing Ade to catch up. So, the next few laps were spent in front of Ade, but I was struggling to get into a flow, driving quite tentatively at times (partly to preserve tyres), but I was feeling nervous! Lap 5 and Ade was past in a clean move, but I had a nice couple of laps following him closely, but an error shortly after put a gap between us. The next ten laps were spent pegging the gap, which remained pretty much the same until I started to get a bit closer on lap 15 and then gained a couple more chunks of time as Ade apparently was struggling a bit at this stage. Then, I was past, Ade having gone off!

A loss of concentration led to a stupid error of my own, which saw me lose a chunk of time on lap 18, allowing Ade to close almost to striking distance, but I was able to maintain & then extend the gap again.

From then on, it was relatively plain sailing, and I passed a slowing Soka a lap or so from the end who had run out of fuel. I was getting concerned about my own level of fuel, but I got the faithful V8 Esprit to the end to take an amazing 3rd place! Ahhh, except it wasn't! It turned out I was racing against an invisible weescotsman, who had in fact finished 3rd! But, I was over the moon with 4th place!!! A return to form following a few races where I struggled in terms of tyre degradation, which I seemed to get on top of for this race :-) ( and moving on from the débâcle of starting on the harder tyres at Spa, thus handicapping my entire race )...

But, having started the race in the championship position of 7th, my excellent result at Silverstone vaulted me to an amazing 4th place! - I LOVE double points :D I am really over the moon with this 4th place, and if you'd have told me at the beginning of the season that I'd finish there, I wouldn't have believed it!

The story of my championship, was even though my car mileages were generally much lower than the other front runners, on those occasions when I was able to take part on two or three practice sessions, my performance was usually lifted as a result.

My highlights are obviously my first podium and first win in the series, at Monza! That was a real milestone for me, and one which gave me enormous pleasure and satisfaction. In fact, I was on a high for the whole week afterwards!!! And, towards the end of the year, I felt my pace was improving in the higher powered cars, so I hope to build on this for next season!

So, I offer congrats to Capt D for taking the championship, you have been a model of consistency through the year, being very fast and on those times when you weren't quite the fastest, you were always there or thereabouts and taking those big points finishes! Well done! 👍

Thanks again so much to Ade who works so tirelessly to run this series to such a professional standard. And to everyone else who I'd had such fun battles with through the year. Very honoured to be racing with you guys and to be part of this :bowdown:

Now.... where is that Monza replay, it's time to re-live the glory of that maiden win!

Just try to avoid overtuning the cars and using racing compounds, road cars on racing compound always feels completely off to me, especially in GT6.

OK guys. GC Gary and myself spent last night running the cars to decide on tuning specs. As always they are going to replicate their real life racing equivalents as closely as possible. The tuning we have given these cars makes them very different to each other to drive. Overall the NSX was quicker by 1.5 seconds, and was the easier car to drive, however the Evora had much more acceleration and could get some distance on the Honda on the long straights, with the NSX making up a lot of ground through Porsche curves. We only ran with stock suspension settings, and the transmission was only adjusted to increase the max speed. (196 mph).

We also discussed the format of the race, and some rules. We have decided that as it is an endurance race, we will run it as exactly that.

The race timer will be set to 2 hours.

The fuel and tyre wear will be set to fast.

Damage will be set to heavy.

Minimum of 5 laps on the harder tyre compound.

Every racer must make 1 simulated driver change pit stop. (4 minutes from stopping in the pit lane) This can be done by pressing the start button once your car has stopped in the pit lane.

The pit window for the simulated driver change will be between 50 and 70 minutes.

Given the lap times we managed last night, the driver change, heavy damage and fast tyre and fuel wear, the race should still give us approximately 24 laps. The last time we ran this, 24 laps took 1 3/4 hours, so given the extra additions to this race, we wont be far off the 24.

Full car specs will be available soon.

More news guys. We have just ran some more test laps. The Evora's fastest lap driven by me was 4:08.5xx. The NSX, driven by Gary was 4:08.8xx. However, we do feel that in the right hands, suspension and gearbox tuning will give a big advantage to the faster guys. We also discussed how car allocation would be decided.

To make the event as fair as possible, and to also add a pro/am feel to it, drivers will be divided into teams of 2.

Each team will have one of each car.

Teams will be picked by myself and Gary.

Each team will consist of 1 driver from the top of The Sunday cup championship standings, paired with a driver from the bottom of the table.

In the event of driver's who didnt participate, or who are known to be fast, but couldnt attend all Sunday Cup races, pairings will be made based on past Sunday Cup performances.

It will be up to team mates to decide who drives each car.

Team cars must have the same wheel/body colour scheme.

Full specs for the cars, and teams will be posted tomorrow.

We also have another entry onto the grid. Northlander74, AKA Omnius will be joining us for this race.
