Darn it! So sorry that I did not make the race last night, a combination of a late finish at work followed by unexpected visitors with a bottle or two of red meant that even if I had been rude enough to go online I was already well over the drink-drive limit. (Not good at 200mph!)

I look forward to reading the race reports.

Well done to all that took part.

Epic race guys, everyone ran great, after the formation lap me and soka pulled a bit of a gap on the others as they ran rh tyres. Kept a gap of about 2 mins as I got past soka, pitted in lap 7 and when I came out soka was gone, then came the darkness, decided to take it easy and stay on track, I had a gap back to Warren and cpt so didn't need to push until daylight came round again. But there was this green thing catching me, (even tho it looked black) lol sure enough Warren passed I had messed up my fuel by 1 lap! Arghhhhh quick splash and dash I thought until I hit the wall on the second last lap, close to the pits so prayed I could get in and out before cpt was on me, thankfully I managed it 2 hours full cycle was amazing, hats off to everyone we all did amazing. And of course this wouldn't have happened with out our clueless..... Sorry fearless leaders priscilla and smart a***! Lol jokes aside thanks guys great event.

Awesome race! !! Really enjoyed it, a truly fantastic challenge! Congrats to Soka for the win!

Chuffed to be the lead NSX finisher in in the race :)

Will write a more detailed race report in due course, but well done everyone, quality drives all through the field :)
Looking Forward to it.

....Thank you all with a special mention for @CTR Driver and @GTP_ADE for all the time they have put into it!

Thanks for putting the races together Ade and Gary.
It's something I couldn't do, hat off two you both. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Without you guys we wouldn't have an audience to cater for. Thanks.

Awesome race last night guys, thank you to all participants, especially to GC and ade for making it possible!
I first tried both cars only yesterday, and immediately found myself quicker in the evora so it was the obvious choice for the race. As the race started, I was a bit nervous and took an early braking point into the second chicane which gave weescotman a perfect opportunity to overtake. So I settled for the next 7 laps 2 sec behind him until I saw his car pull into the pit lane at the end of lap 7. I took a quick look at my fuel and saw that I had enough for 8 laps. Tyre ware was bad, but the two or three previous laps were in the 3:58, 59 mark, so I knew I could do a 3:59 if I stayed consistent. And I did, so when I came out of the pits after lap 8, weescotman was now 2 seconds behind. That was half an hour into the race. Right there and then I decided about race strategy. 3 stints of 8 laps on racing mediums, driver change before the third stint on the hour mark, and 1 stint on racing hards for the remainder twenty something minutes, which would give me plenty of time to complete 5 laps. I finally managed 6 laps on racing hards. I was tired towards the end of the race and made a couple of mistakes which led to excursions off track, but the gap was now big enough in order to feel that the win had been secured.
Again, massive thanks to all of you that make such epic races come true, and looking forward to even longer races.. maybe 3 hours next time we run le mans?
This is my evora set up.

height 90-130
spring 9.00-14.00
comp 1-1
ext 2-2

brakes 10-7
max speed 320km/h default
lsd 20-60-20
downforce 5
ballast position -50

Thanks guys, like Gary said above, its you racers who make our clubs produce great events. This race was probably the most ambitious single race we have organized, and it seems it was a success. Respect to everyone who took part. This race was never going to be about close battles all the way through the race, but more about who would complete 2 hours of racing, and everyone did.

Later tonight I will be going through the replay, and posting the final results. There are a couple of infringements which I have to look at, and adjust the final times. I will also be giving you some news about where this race may lead some of us to. As I said before, this was a precursor to something else.

Ok, here is my slightly more detailed write up...

I managed to run in a few practice sessions which really helped. Although on the night before the race my car felt horrible to drive after having the body rigidity repaired, but as per Warren's advice it just needed a few races to bed in. By the end of Thursday eve practice it started to feel better again. :) Although it took longer than I thought it would!

Qualified for the race on the race hards, and I ran all the way until lap 9 on these, as they didn't feel too bad and ran until there was vapour in the tank. Driving in the dark wasn't too bad, had a great battle with Rosen for a while, and managed to pass him on one of the straights. But I was looking forward to getting back to daylight. I managed to avoid any big mistakes up until this period which was great. However, as the sun rose, I found it more difficult to drive, with the odd light hiding my old braking points. I made a couple of mistakes that I got away with, but the a bigger one onto the chicane after the first straight, which allowed Cobani through.

From then until the end I settled down and drove fairly well until the end.

I posted my fasted lap of the race, and any of my practice sessions, on the penultimate lap of the race, with a down on power car and worn tyres, so it just shows how much you learn on every lap! I didn't really get going laptime wise until those final few laps, when I didn't have anyone ahead or behind me...

Really chuffed to get position #1 of the NSXs, it just didn't quite have the ability to challenge the Evoras on pure pace (in the state of tune chosen) , but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh, and the singing N/A Honda VTEC V6 sounds sooooooo much better than the Toyota Camry derived V6 of the Evora, which I was happy to accompany me through the race! ;)

Thanks Ade and GC for organising this fab event, an absolute joy and treat to take part in :)

Just one more thing.... If we do this again with these cars (and I hope that we do), I really hope and would like to see the performance of the cars completely equalised. Only because having run this race, we can put to bed the myth that the NSX was somehow much more fuel efficient.

If I compare my race to that of the race winner Soka's, the facts speak for themselves....

Soka pitted on laps 8, 16 and 23. I pitted on laps 9 ( on fumes), 16 and 21. There was no benefit at all in this regard. I think the NSX should be allowed to run two seconds a lap quicker so that it is put on more of an equal footing with the Evora! 👍 :) Because it's a joint Sunday Cup/Type-R race it would be nice if both cars had an equal shot at victory. What are your thoughts Ade, have a look at the replay later and let me know what you think. :)

I don't think it would make any difference, the Evora is an animal to drive, we had it easy in the NSX, you give the NSX to the Top boys we'd still not do very well, it's down to driver skill. Theewar and Weescotman already proved that in practice.

The NSX in it's original build was more fuel efficient. But as red bull and Daniel Riccardo can attest, you use more fuel, you go faster. And a car with more power will go faster, even if it is only slightly.

OK guys, here we go. There are no fancy graphics this time, just raw data Im afraid.

I was a bit disappointed that my race partner didnt turn up. I had to race as a privateer. I didnt mind that, but I would rather have raced in my usual racing colours. (Lemans blue and yellow)

Firstly, there were some infringements in the race. But before I go into these, the table at the end of the race looked like this....

SOKA...28 LAPS
THEEWAR....28 LAPS
WESCOTMAN...28 LAPS
GTP_CAPT_D...28 LAPS
SHOLESY...28 LAPS...2:04.08.710
COBANI...28 LAPS...2:04.12.989
JAMMY...28 LAPS...2:04.45.785
ROSEN...28 LAPS...2:05.36.711
NOMAD...27 LAPS
GC255...26 LAPS
ADE3210...26 LAPS

Now moving onto the infringements.

SHOLESY....4 minute pit stop was not 4 minutes. It was 2 minutes 34 seconds. Penalty for this is double the time short of the pit stop which equals 2 minutes 58 seconds.

NOMAD....4 minute pit stop was not 4 minutes. It was 3 minutes 44 seconds. Penalty for this is double the time short of the pit stop which equals 32 seconds. ( There was no final time, and the addition of the penalty made no difference to NOMADS position)

JAMMY_REX....Exceeding track boundaries. Mulsanne corner on laps 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26. Going 4 wheels over the white line on the left hand side before the right hand turn. Penalty for this is 5 seconds per infringement, making a total of 1 minute 15 seconds.

The revised results are as follows.

SOKA...28 LAPS...16+1+1=18
THEEWAR....28 LAPS...15
WESCOTMAN...28 LAPS...14
GTP_CAPT_D...28 LAPS...13
COBANI...28 LAPS...2:04.12.989...12
ROSEN...28 LAPS...2:05.36.711...11
JAMMY...28 LAPS...2:06.00.755...10
SHOLESY...28 LAPS...2:07.00.710...9

NOMAD...27 LAPS...8
GC255...26 LAPS...7
ADE3210...26 LAPS...6
So, moving onto the points, and teams.

SOKA was the overall winner, and picked up extra points for pole position and fastest lap, finishing with 18 points.

Teams...

THEEWAR and NOMAD...23 points
COBANI and ROSEN...23 points
GTP_CAPT_ and GC255...20 points
JAMMYREX and SHOLESY...19 points

The real winners though are all of us. We took on Lemans over 2 hours, and none of us even thought of quitting. This brings me onto the next bit.......

This race was a kind of qualifier for a real time Leman 24 hour race. The race in question is being held in 4 weeks time, and I am entering a team. I will not be racing myself, but acting as manager for the team. This entry will require total commitment from attendees. I am hoping to get support from Lotus, as we will be entering in a fully tuned Elise 111R in GT class. We will be entering under the team name Lotus club GT. 2 racers have already committed to this, and I need 2 more. @J Daniels , the 3 hour race you mentioned may be here sooner than you thought.

Racers, your event organizer needs you. 24 hours Lemans.

Aww, disappointed :guilty: Fair enough, I was really struggling with getting the turn in point correct on the right hand corner before the long straight (I presume this is Mulsane corner). The thing is, I lost time each and every time I did this, because I missed my apex and lost speed going on to the straight (the speed was slower going wide than hitting the apex which is why I kept getting frustrated) which makes me even more annoyed with myself. When ever I got it correct it was a feel-good moment for me, but like I say I really struggled here and is a double shame that I did not gain time from doing this, I lost time each time it happened. Gutting to hear of the penalty :( :indiff: I don't recall reading that we'd get such a penalty (forgive me if this was stated), perhaps if there is a next time the drivers can be made fully aware of the ramifications. :)

Penalty's had to be decided after the event I'm afraid. If it had been the odd lap or 2 it wouldnt have mattered so much, however, as the track boundaries were included in the final driver briefing, and I also went through them in the lobby before the race, I had to issue a penalty due to the frequency of the infringement.

I now know the corner you mean. Sorry, I wasn't even aware of that one, I read it and thought that it somehow meant the first part of the right hander after the straight, not the one immediately before the 90 degree right hander as it tightens. I'm gutted I missed the track boundaries practice session that would have specifically pointed this out, as I was completely and blissfully unaware, it wasn't something I was doing deliberately to take advantage and was generally trying to be really careful coming into this corner and braking early :(

Totally unprepared environmentally and cognitively for this event lads. Please do not look down on me, I just didn't get any time at the wheel prior, so whole race was ultra intense. Didn't know pit bods do their thang anyhow. Tried to cater for it later.:guilty:

If seats are going, I'd love to be involved. If not, I can take a photo or 2. Not to step on our resident photographers toes, just to be involved.

Loved it though, wish I'd had time to put my usual attendance and private practice into it. Lessons learnt. Great!

Awesome. That gives us three racers. I will be in comunication with the event organizers later. I will get the full specs for the Elise posted up later today aswell.

Don't understand why you haven't asked me!!!:lol:
I'm a legend!!!
As I'm sure you guessed I'm only joking, Shame you can't get GT Garry in, or maybe Cobani, but then again he's going to be very busy with the new arrival.
It looks like a really good team so far.

OK guys. Here are some more details for the GTPlanet 24 heures du mans race. The team so far is as follows.

Driver 1 @weescotman
Driver 2 @theewar
Driver 3 @J Daniels
Driver 4 TBA

The car we will be competing in will be a Lotus Elise 111R race car. Fully tuned to produce 348 BHP and weighing 720 KG. Some testing has been done by Will and Warren, and the car can deliver very good times at Le Sarthe, matching the sort of times in the GT class at the real Lemans this weekend. The organizers have spent a considerable amount of time running tests to make each class is as accurate as possible.

The car must be black with gold rims. Everyone must have the same wheels, and the same race number, #72.

We will go over exact body and wheel colours over the next week or so.

All drivers need to make sure that they read the thread so that they understand the driver change procedure.

The organizers are holding 2 6 hour practice races. Details of these can be found on the thread. They are both on the same weekend. One is at Spa, 1 is at Silverstone. It would be a good idea if we could attend 1 of these. This will give us a chance to check out the competition, and also get use to the driver change procedure.

This event will require full commitment. I am prepared as team manager, and will be on hand throughout the race to communicate with drivers. We will need to organize a rota, and decide on driver stints.

I will also require a volunteer to open a lobby for the entire race, so we have a rest room where drivers can congregate whilst not on track.

Gentlemen. This is what EPIC is all about.

Full details of this event can be found on the 24 heures du mans thread, HERE.

EAT, SLEEP, RACE, REPEAT!

Have you ever thought of doing something like the top four of the championship get entered into such an event, a bit like the champions league! Lol, I know that I finished 4th so it looks like I'm working an angle here (I'm not honestly), but something to think of for the future maybe. :)

The SC/TRC race at LeMans was a fantastic event thanks to the efforts made by Ade and Gary, great job.

I got off to a good start in third and shadowed SoKa and Will until, as I entered the Dunlop chicane on lap three, I bounced onto two wheels to such an angle I thought it would roll over. :nervous: Luckily it landed on all four wheels but was now facing the wrong direction placing me in seventh place by the time I rejoined. The rest of the race went well from then on, with only a slight off in the darkness and having to make an extra pit stop because of mistakingly selecting hard tyres for a second time as the pit menu appeared on entering the pits. :dunce: But for these mistakes I may have been able to challenge Will for third place at the finish, it was quite close. Great race!

A very well done to SoKa for the win, well done Warren for second and Will for third.

A few pics:

Awesome pics Gary. Thank you very much. I love the transition going from day to night, back to day. You really captured the atmosphere of the race. It seems everyone enjoyed themselves, and I would also like to thank GC Gary for all his efforts in the car builds. Great wok fella.

The GTPlanet real time 24 hour race, is an idea that came to me only a few weeks ago. I only registered as a reserve team to start with, so we could at least have an entry. I did mention it to some of the drivers, to see if it would be of interest. It is a massive commitment, and would require giving up an entire weekend. Will and Warren told me they could commit, but Capt_D and Cobani couldnt. So I couldnt base entrys on a championship position basis. Soka has committed, so there is one place remaining. Next week, I will run some trials at Le Sarthe, and if anyone is interest in joining us, I will make a decision on who the final driver will be, depending on if they can commit. I hope this answers your question.

As stated above, next week we will run some trials, and practice sessions. It will also be the time to start working on our racing strategy, and driver rota. 4 drivers over 24 hours is 6 hours per driver. Over 2 separate stints, thats 3 hours per stint. You guys need to decide if you want to do more or less, and decide what stints you want to do. We dont know about weather yet, so that must be considered. During the race, I will be in communication with all of you through facebook, and text messages. I am trying to acquire another PS3, so I can open a lobby for racers to come in when they are not on track. I have also offered to do a live stream of the event, which is why I need another PS3. On race day, my house will be like a pit garage, with lap totals being added up, and organizing the next driver on track. Im really looking forward to this challenge, and I think it will be a hugely rewarding experience for all involved.

Love you guys. xx

Well you can count me in for the time trails anyway Ade 👍 I thought I'd wait and see if anyone else wanted the last spot before I decided to throw myself into the mix. Always toyed with the idea of entering an Endurance event, and there's not a much better way of doing it than part of The Sunday Cup's team.

This is too scary for me, but bloody great. Our best drivers should fly the flag *cough* Cap. And our teams cars are in loads of the photos:tup:

If I can help out in anyway I'd love to. Not sure of commitments just yet.

Will watch it at the very least and cheering our boys on in the Classic JPS liveried Lotus Club GT Lotus Elise 111R Works Team Entry.

Sunday Cup is the Omega!

What sort of training/practice regime are The Le Mans drivers doing? Even though I'm not a driver I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to join any private sessions if I'm allowed.
