Pistonheads came up with a Top10 Engines list. It was limited to cars priced less than $50,000, so Ferrari's and Lamborghinis weren't included. An interesting list, considering their requirements for listing. From a sporting point of view, about half those engines could be dropped outright, and another dozen or so would be up for contention. As for the H6 chosen from Porsche, I think they have the wrong 2.7L one: it should have been from the 1973 911 Carrera RS.

- BMW 3.2 I6 @5,000-5,500rpm. Makes this wonderful noise. Can't describe it. Seems to fill every frequencey. Lovely stuff.
- Top Fuel's EK Civic Type RR - 500bhp. Sounds like a motorbike. Sweet as.
- Ford Escort RS Turbo, with a 4" Magnex backbox. Yummy.
- Veilsides [I think] red 600bhp RX7. Idle alone can reduce a grown man to tears.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit it. But my Civic, sounds pretty awesome at full rpms and at low rpms. Many people have asked me what exhaust I was using, because it has this ripping throaty type sound that is bubbly and quite deep sounding. Sounds like a Harley with more pistons. then at full rpms it gets really harmonious and kind of screams. I really like it.

1) Cobra - As much as I dislike American Cars , I was lucky enough to go to a Classic Car Festival , and got to hear an earful or two of this beast . Absolutely Awesome

2) Ferrari F40 - Saw an old Top Gear Episode on one of my old tapes , and watched it again . Go do yourself a favor and listen to this : Awesome

3)Mclaren F1 - Probably the best ever Sports Gt ever made , and by the looks of ever tightening emmisions controls around the world , it may probably be the best Sports Gt of All Time . Btw go look for the Top Gear review on Kazaa , and listen between Tiff's comments @ the engine .


4) Subaru Flat Four - Legendary , I don't have to expand on this

5) Audi Quattro Sports Racing - I wonder how many people were lucky enough to see and hear this thing . Turbocharge twitter that you could hear kilometres away . Aww those were the days

6)Veilside Supra - Go get on kazaa , and look for this car . A extremely unique BOV noise bursts between the I6 when in full flow.

7)Spoon Honda's - Any Spoon modded Honda . Reminds me so
much of a F1 Car

8)Carbed Ferraris & Alfa's - I guess this is more for the older folk on this bbs , but you young ones , try and get into an old carbed alfa or even better Ferrari . There is just no sound better than Big Webers !!!!

9)Lambo's - Any one , sounds like a lion ready to tear out your kidneys , it sounds insanely scary.

10) Mercedes C43 - Vastly under-rated car , looks like your average C180 , until the key turns , which in turn tranforms into a 60's Musclecar . I can't describe the noise this car makes , it just be outlawed ; That's how good it is !!
