By the way- Did you know that the casting for Pink Floyd's The Wall was made by a woman called Celestia Fox?

I honestly didn't expect it to be an IRL name. :lol:

It's weird how no one pony is a great role model in the show. Yet, together, they make up a better role model...I think that's the point, though. No one is perfect.

Yeah.

None of the characters are perfect role models, which is exactly what makes them all so great. Dashie has her massive ego, Twi has her occasional over the top OCD, Rarity has her demanding girly girl side, AJ has her stubbornness, and Pinkie has her whole inability to take things seriously most of the time. Seeing the characters overcome these flaws without completely doing away with them is exactly what makes these ponies better role models than most other modern cartoons, IMO.

Having negative character traits makes the characters[As a whole] better role models is my main point.

Just got through watching this, very interesting video and it answers alot of questions I had prior to the discovery of this thread and shows me several things:

- reveals to me that there were actually was more then one generation of this show (and good grief, I thought the one I saw was bad).

- showed me some of the initial sketches prior to season 1

- introduced to me the origin of Bronies, which supposedly started from of all places, 4Chan (From what I hear, "You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany")

- Showed me some cameo appearances and refferences of past and present pop culture (some of which I knew I reconized).


Now I do apoligize if this video has already been mentioned here before, but I just wanted to say I learned quite abit from it. Incidentally, I also have come to a realization that I share some personality traits with the mane 6. Who knew?
 
A bit late but Happy New Year guys. I've been in the country side for the last week without internet so I haven't even checked the thread until now. And I'll watch the episode when I return next Monday. That way I'll have 2 to watch.

P.S. My shoulders have seen the sun for the first time in years and I think they had a reaction to all that UV light. They're all red. :( :ouch:

I think most of us remember that video for one specific reason (they used the GTP Brony group drawing made by unit-one @0:54:56). He found it while watching the video last year, then posted it here since he was surprised to find his artwork was included.

Also, it's clear that pretty much everyone shares at least one trait with each of the Mane 6. Especially those who watch the show and can relate to them, who from what I've seen, share far more than a single trait. Some of us having clear similarities to specific Mane 6 characters, plus it tends to tie in with whoever our favourite pony is, but not always.

In regard of the MLP episodes being pulled off YouTube as of late, HERE should clear up a bit of it.

Just in case, ya'know, there may be a few of us who live on the moon and might now know. ;]
 
This sort of YT video purge happens maybe twice a year from what I remember. I'd be surprised if things went downhill from this current spell of takedowns, but I'm hoping they don't go taking more fan content down.

Oddly enough, I respect and praise quite highly loyalty myself, yet Rainbow Dash is perhaps my least favorite out of the mane 6, due to her massive ego, among other characteristics. I also kind of know why, she's exactly what I'd be if I weren't trying to specifically not be that. Not to say I dislike RD, though. Really great character.

By the way, Luna's best pony. Not sure if I made those sentiments clear.
