God dammit Hub and your excellent marketing division.

Internet won, go home guys.

Also the YouTube hammering is happening outside the fandom, too. Both MKTurok and Tridyrium, (aka best guys for game OSTs,) got shut down several times and had to rebuild.

You could'e just arced it instead, and it looks better in the first one.

I'm guessing you mean arched? (not making fun of you, just was confused when I read your post.). Was going off Fluttershy in this picture (which admittingly is hard to see, but was the only one I could find with her in it).

I meant arc, have several points in the arc so that you can shape it the way you want.
You could just use a simple arc for it, but it looks like the line starts to curve more at the top.

Ah, makes more sense now. Not really sure how to thought since I ever do is erase spots and use the brush. I've done an arc on things before, but it was only either text or shapes I just pulled from something else.

I found this image in a Toy Fair Investor Event press kit that was linked from EQD... this could get pretty interesting. Unless this is old and they just threw it in there to troll us. Edit: maybe it's the movie?

[POTENTIAL SPOILER]

And I can't imagine how all the waiting fans are. Maybe they really are trying to shut us down.

If only.

It's going to be really damn funny if they are in fact deciding to expand the franchise into higher ages after making as sure as possible that they have driven off everyone who will have cared. No one is going to be left around next week to even get pissed off.

Yeah, the entire fandom will bail after the whole Alicorn Twilight saga comes to a close, hating the whole episode.

How can Hasbro even attempt to sue? It's a nonprofit game which fans make all the time for popular stuff. What's next? Hasbro going after the CMC tumblr for making videos or the R34 community for making games. Everyone in this world is too sue happy damn it.

Love how I keep thinking "oh this won't take much" only to later struggle and take longer then expected.

Not really impressed myself right now, probably the worst job I've done so far. At this point, I might just give up.

And regarding the issue at hand, I can't say I'm surprised. We're in an era where apparently no matter if you even do something Non-Profit, Big company's Lawyers always have something to say (as a certain German car company already proved months ago).

Shame on you, Hasbro. After a long development, youjust gave the Mane6 the cease and desist move. Wrong move, Hasbro. Wrong move. You're taking away the talents of a few people who love your show. I am aware about copyright infringement and all, but it's not criticizing or retaliating your toy line, is it? No. It a sign of appreciation, and you took it away. At least, Lauren Faust is on our side.

Looks like other MLP-based games currently in development are laying low because of this.

Having read what Lauren said on Twitter, I wouldn't be against seeing Mane6 use slightly altered versions of the main characters in Fighting is Magic. Even recolours or renamed ones would suffice, which has worked for other fan content I've seen recently. Plus it's better than having nothing if there's no chance of them being able to use the characters they intended to use from the beginning.

But yeah, let's see if killing a non-profit fan-made game with years of development behind it will help shift more Princess Sparkle toys.

I think Hasbro may be forgetting what made the fandom great in the first place.

From what I've read, they actually don't care about us that much. They don't hate the fandom, mind. But they don't really have much in the way of respect for the work some fans have put into making content, or the fans that were anticipating said content. So long as they get a huge wad of cash at the end of the day, it hardly matters to them.

I like this idea. Then they could just slip in a mod to get the normal characters back, release it anonymously, then there's nothing Hasbro can do to stop it.

And I have to wonder how Hasbro is structured. Do these orders go through any of the investors or anyone who's actually in charge of the company, or is all of this done by people who are just hired to hunt down copyright infringement and write letters? Because this sounds like the kind of decision someone very uninformed would make.

And, hell, apparently lawyers are being brought in on both sides, I've heard, so maybe this will all just end in the game getting a license and then just being a couple dollars instead of free, and then it will be copied and distributed illegally, anyway.

Or, option C, and the most likely one I think, Mane 6 continues development without being public in any way, and one day a finished product of a suspiciously similar, but totally complete, fighting game goes up and everybody wins.

Looks like business as usual for the Hasbro legal team. I guess no matter how beloved something is to the amazing fan base Hasbro has, it isn't safe from lawyers.

Oh btw, Lauren Faust to the rescue? https://twitter.com/Fyre_flye/status/300098640150687744

That's hilarious! And awesome! Fyre Flye sticking it to the man. And she'd be creating characters that she actually can retain the rights to if she wants. Unlike Foster's Home, Powerpuff Girls (both owned by Hanna-Barbara/Cartoon Network) and MLP FIM (owned by Hasboro). Should be interesting to see what she comes up with.

Kinda sad considering how Valve let their first, flagship game get a complete remake released for free. And sales of HL1 actually went up due to people buying it to see the difference, and everyone was very happy with the outcome.

Sadly, I've brought this up to Ponycraft while we're reassembling the engine, and it's likely we'll either close the project or move to another plan not involving ponies. I can definitely imagine a big exodus of game development out of the fandom now.

It's sad, as serious game dev was only just beginning to flourish and put us on the map as a fandom. It's one thing to animate a video or draw neat art, or make cool music. A game requires all of these things and much more to do well, and is a much bigger prize once completed.

Well Hasbro can rotate on my middle finger but I won't hate the show because of it. Ain't MLP's or the creators' fault that they're own by pompous idiots.

Pretty much.

I'm gonna give them some time to see if they reverse this decision. If it does end up being one idiots decision and someone else at the company takes notice there's a chance for things to change.

And I don't have time to research right now, but apparently Hasbro is in a situation where they either have to defend their copyright or lose it entirely. I'm not sure how much truth there is in that, but if it's the case I can't say I blame them for putting a stop to it.

I don't really know much about how the whole development process works, but from what I know; I'd continue working on it but just keep it totally under wraps until this whole thing either blows over or sticks too long. Because if you change the focus or cancel it entirely and this thing blows over in a month it would be a missed opportunity.

IIRC it has a lot to do with that. Not sure exactly which U.S. law makes that so but it exists.

I'd imagine Hasbro's legal team isn't necessarily taking individual orders from upper management about what to shut down next, but they are tasked with defending their property which they're allowed to do. A legal team doesn't care about how creative or dedicated a fan is, if they "misuse" their property they're going down. The legal world is a dark and depressing place. I took a business law class last semester so clearly I know all :sly:

Drama overshadowed a new episode yet again, which I only just remembered was on today. Guess I can watch it later on.

I think I speak for a large contingency of fans by saying that I'd want to pay for the game even if it was free.

Anyone else feel like they really, reallllyyy put a ton of effort into the animation for this episode? IMO, probably the best yet.The tie in was a nice little thing too.
